Reviewed By 361iainbWe had a very warm welcome on arrival with staff ensuring we had a car parking space and then taking the time to escort us to our room and settle us in. The room was equipped with a small kitchenette and kettle. There was an excellent breakfast choice and we took the opportunity to eat outside by the pool. We ate in the hotel restaurant on two evenings. It was truly worthy of the title ‘fine dining’. It is only about 100m walk to the beach. In addition the hotel has a pool and Spa. We will definitely be returning to this hotel next year. The Île de Re is one of our favourite holiday destinations and this hotel will be our first choice.

Located in the heart of the Bois Plage, the Ocean hotel welcomes you in a typical rethais setting. We have 29 rooms all decorated differently, a spa, a swimming pool, a large garden with olive trees. Our restaurant has a menu offering fish, seafood, not forgetting a choice of meat. Chef Thierry Bouhier works seasonal products. We also have a seminar room that can accommodate 16 people. The wifi is free, as well as access to video on demand. A space in the garden allows you to store your bikes. The beaches are located 1km from the hotel, and the market at 300m.

Reviewed By isabeloS7282MOWow. Yet again, another amazing meal here. Beautiful oysters and squid to start. Monkfish with clams, pollack and what my children declared as ‘The best burgers ever’. Great service with a smile, lovely chatty ambience and as ever, superb Irish coffee to finish! Thanks l’Ocean!

The Hotel ile de Re, is the last built hotel on the island. Ideally located between beach and forest. It is thought out to be the most comfortable and relaxing place around. This 4 star hotel offers 15 rooms from 25 sqm to 36sqm, fully equipped and designed with high end materials, oakfloor and furnitures, concrete walk-in shower, leather club arm chair, private terraces, 49 inches flat screen TV... Some rooms offer a forest view from the terrace. 50 meters from the hotel you can enjoy 2 outdoors heated swimming pools, a Spa, A semi gastronomic restaurant and a bar. On site a secure car park is available. The beach is 50 meters, from the hotel.
Very pleasant (but costly) place to stay
Reviewed By HarryR650We stayed for Fri-Sun for a quiet break with our dog. The hotel staff are very pleasant, efficient and speak good english; so no problems with translation. The room, we had the mid-cost suite was very well equipped, cleaned every day and was very modern. The shower-room was lovely. The bed (we found) really comfortable & my wife slept really well. We ate in the hotel restaurant (booking really important) and the menu was very good, accounted for gluten/veggie diets and the wine list was good. Our only gripe was that it was quite expensive both the room and eating there. We didn't use the Spa but there were a lot of people using it, all seemed satisfied. If the 'menu's' prices were reduced by about €5-10, I would have given the Hôtel Ile de Ré 5 etoilles!

Reviewed By ajpallantSmall well appointed hotel breakfast served across the road ( short walk ) to sister hotel rooms are fun and well maintained pool small but all you need Breakfast was well presented and plentiful staff helpful without being pushy location is good for nearest village and beach a short stroll away restaurant served good food at reasonable prices bar was expensive we felt for the atmosphere Value for money will depend on your requirements for us was great quiet private clean comfortable If you want somewhere smart private and in a good location this is the place good for couples although we noticed families here which is nice

Scammed - Non trustable
Reviewed By IAR82We reserved in the Hotel for a few days in September. Due to travel restrictions we had to cancel the booking one day after the booking. After speaking several times with the owners they promised to provide a credit note refund, which never happened. Never responding to e-mails and always claiming to be too busy on the phone, so they did not have to deal with the issue. Last time we spoke they said they were closing the administrative year and again promised a credit note, we are still waiting. Although they have the legal right to charge the money in full (which they of course did), I would have hoped for a reliable and respectful approach. I don't have an opinion on the hotel itself, but the style of management on this issue has neither been fair nor trustable. Enjoy my money, I hope karma does the rest.

Nice, simple French campsite, short walk to quiet beach
Reviewed By John_HarcSimple campsite, nice clean wash/toilet block with all that's needed, reception block with no shop, bikes to hire, take away across the road and beach just a short (10 minute) walk. Local beach is quiet and safe, only accessible by foot and bike.

Interesting non standard hotel
Reviewed By OuweEekhoornIt is a unique place with little cabana style rooms centered around 2 pools. Food is good for dinner, breakfast a bit standard. Could not find any fresh fruit. What I truly liked is that it is a place that can not be compared with hotel hotels. Not a lot of privacy as everybody can look into your room given the structure.

Not for Touring Caravans

We have a twin axle tourer, and could only get to a few of the pitches, as most were completely inaccessible. On the website these pitches are advertised as between 80m2 to 100m2 and look lovely in the pictures the reality is Very Very Different. Our pitch was maximum 50m2, we were treated to dog faeces all over the pitch and a pitch not really large enough to even have the awning up, we had it up, but couldn't peg the front because this was on the road. Behind us was a chain fence overlooking a factory which started work around 7:00am. I'm sure if you are staying in one of their properties it may be a different experience but for tourers, Do Not Go Here !. So disappointing to have wasted our summer holiday at this site.

Very poor treatment
Reviewed By 426katharinelMy partner and I were meant to be staying here for a week. For medical reasons we thought we may need to change the dates. I called to check if this was possible and was told repeatedly on the 2 occasions I called to check if this was possible that we could do this. We therefore booked the surgery and then tried to rearrange the dates. After a few days of repeatedly calling I was then told we could not change the dates and I was misinformed. They acknowledged I was misinformed but unfortunately took no responsibility for this and we lost the money for the weeks holiday and can not rebook. This is an appalling way to treat people. I understand that we were given the wrong information but as this was given to us and we made arrangement accordingly I would have expected any good company to have honoured what they initially told us and not make us pay for their error. I am sad to have to write this review, the campsite looked beautiful and all the staff I spoke with were professional and kind.
