Reviewed By martyconradThe rooms are very outdated, the floor was warped and creaked then you walked on it. The pillows should have been replaced years ago, they had zero support for your head and were just chunks of foam. No A/C in the room so it was too hot and too many bugs outside to open the window/sliding door. The balcony was covered in cigarette butts.

Reviewed By 918mynameZwei Zimmer waren vorgebucht. An der Rezeption war niemand. Ein Mobilfunknummer musste angerufen werden, ein Kellner vom 200m entfernten Speiselokal kam dann nach einiger Zeit. Zimmer 3: Bad neu gemacht, insgesamt o. k. Zimmer 12: Bad neu gemacht, Bett allerdings ohne Federung. Frühstück erst ab 8h. Früheres Frühstück 7h wurde zugesagt hat aber nicht geklappt weil die Kommunikation zwischen Rezeptionist und Küchenpersonal nicht funktionierte. Zwei von uns vier mussten deshalb ohne Frühstück los. Das Frühstück für die anderen beiden war gut. Der Frühstücksraum ist ein weiß angestrichener Kartoffelkeller ohne Lüftungsmöglichkeit. Reduzierte Rechnung für eines der beiden Zimmer ging zunächst nicht. Die Chefin mußte herbeitelefoniert werden (Zeitverlust). Vom Personal war niemand mit Muttersprache deutsch, das hat die Verständigung nicht einfacher gemacht.

Reviewed By YW86On our recent Lahnstein trip, we stayed at the Wyndham Garden Koblenz. Right across our hotel, this charming little restaurant became our place to have dinner. It was a charming little country house, filled with hunting trophies in a quiet, cosy atmosphere. Our dinner was good, for a traditional German schnitzel, this is the place! The location was very interesting, since we didn't have to drive back to the hotel after a couple of wines or beers.

Reviewed By lizzieloo66Modern clean apartment with very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, hot and powerful shower and loads of space. The balcony was lovely to relax on with great views (although you cannot see the river) and our son enjoyed the swimming pool which stays open until 10pm and was never busy. There is a small café bar and a restaurant in the block. The café bar is quite popular and the pizzas are good. The regulars are friendly. On the downside, when you arrive and see the dreadfully ugly exterior you will wonder who allowed these apartments to be built here. It is a bit of an odd location too with clinics and a hospital very close by. However, there are also lovely walks outside the apartments. If you are not a walker or cyclist you are a bit cut off up here, it is a couple of miles down a very steep hill to town. The bus stops at 8pm so you do need a car. The open air swimming pool further down the hill was the best I had ever visited, clean with slides and diving boards and a fantastic Rhine view plus cheap admission and a great little bar/café. Lahnstein itself is pretty and has a stop for the main Rhine boats, it is also a fabulous venue to watch the Rhine in Flames festival during the second weekend in August. However, I would say you need to speak some German to stay in Lahnstein as even the lady in the tourist info spoke very little English, good for me as I wanted to practice but could be tricky if you don't speak German.

Reviewed By 914ingridnWe stayed overnight in a room in the historic building. We had a suite with marine theme. It contained of a small seating area with a sofa and a single bed. And the master bedroom with a large bed. We had views of the castle and river. There was a outdoor sitting terrace. They also have a restaurant, but it is closed on Wednesday. The breakfast is served in a nice eating area. Breakfast was very nice, with fresh fruit, bread buns, yoghurt etc. The host was friendly. The only comment we have is that the curtains did not completely cover the window, thus letting light through.

They do not speak English... that is not so bad.. what is bad !! is that the owner and staff do not make any effort to try to understand you or explain. If you speak German, may be that this is "neutral or sterile", but if you don't speak German, the feeling (at lease ours..) is that you are not welcome. Leonardo

Moselle Camino Koblez
Reviewed By travelingalongjjWe started our Camino here. We were delighted to find Camino signs right outside the hotel! (They were for the Lahnstein Camino not the Moselle Camino.) We took a short taxi ride to Stozenfels Castle, the beginning of the Moselle Camino. There is not a lot of information in English about the Moselle Camino and the staff here at hotel printed out translated information for us. They were so enthusiastic about our pilgrimage! It was a fantastic place to begin our journey and they were our first Camino angels! Very comfortable rooms with a great view of the river.

Not a hotel, ITS A BOARDING HOUSE
Reviewed By j mI booked a one night stay at the Hotel Grani Alter Haus in Lahnstein (just south of Koblenz) September 27th, 2018 through Booking.com. The second I walked in the main door I knew that this was no longer a hotel. The front officer was a store room and the owner looked at me with a “what are you doing here?” look. She had my reservation, but the looks I was getting from other people there told me this was a mistake. This one time hotel is a boarding house for low income people, with a mix of seating outside the rooms with ashtrays full of butts. There is no parking at this boarding house and the on-line description of the hotel is just false. The rooms were from the 70’s with lights not working and analog tv. We did not stay there that night.
