I love this place. We booked a sea view room and there are no regrets. The service is excellent. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The dinners were exquisite. The outdoor onsen is a bit small but the views are wonderful. I will definitely return. Yakushima is everything it promised it would be and this hotel is the cherry on top of the cake.

A small hotel with only 2 rooms in Yakushima, a World Heritage Site. All amenities are organic and special bedding and towels are also available.
It was my first trip to Yakushima with my family and a friend couple who leaving Japan soon. I went to Yakushima with very little prep (we watched "Princess Mononoke" again and read about some hiking trails, that's about it...) but thanks to the owner of this hotel (she guided us and showed us a lot!), it became an unforgettable trip for us. The hotel is minimum and only has two guess rooms and shared living room but beautiful just like the image in the photos, but thing we enjoyed most there was the friendliness and welcoming energy of the owner. her great personality made our island experience very special. Breakfast they served was great too. The home-grown organic vegetables were sweat and delicious! Eggs from 2 hens they have there and homemade bread were delicious too. There were awesome Onsens (hot springs) near the hotel (5mins by car). The mid-night hot spring experience under the stars and with sound of waves sent us to another world, and the other one the owner of the hotel highly recommended, Onoaida Onsen was very special too! Although the water is quite hot, it was very good onsen water you can enjoy in the historical and nostalgic atmosphere. The living space that guests can use freely was also great spot at the hotel. There were many books such as music, travel, photos, all other kind of art and food, including the magazines called "Saunter" which were issued by the owner's husband, and this is fantastic space to relax and spend time on a rainy day. Big resort hotels may be great too, but you experience another level of happiness which is perfect especially for your Yakushima island trip at this hotel. I cannot describe all we had there, so I recommend you to try it yourself by visiting the island and staying with the,! I'm sure that we will visit there again.

Four newly built cottages on a large expanse of land sit facing the sea。Behind the cottages are the mountains and on a clear day there are great views of Mocchomu.Inside the cottages are large cedar beams and the rooms are filled with the fragrance of the timber.Up to 4 guests can stay in a cottage with 2 people sleeping in the loft area on futons.
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Yakushima at the end of September staying in a Skydeck & Terrace bath room. In short we had an absolutely amazing and lovely time. The cottage itself is cute, well kept and clean. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, during our stay they helped book hiking bento’s for us (delicious!), recommend a local restaurant for dinner, as well as phone book a taxi (we are English speakers with only limited Japanese) for us one evening so we could visit a Izakaya in nearby Anbo for some drinks! We hiked most days, but loved coming back each night to the relaxing hot steel bath, as well as yummy complimentary desserts from the hosts! The small kitchen was plenty for us to be able to cook our own meals purchased from the Supermarket nearby (10 minute drive), yum! And the skydeck is magnificent to view the stars, we were lucky enough to have a clear night during our stay, beautiful! As with most of Yakushima you will need a car to get here and around the island, we were able to access all our chosen hiking trail-heads with approx. 45minutes from this accomodation which was super convenient, another great plus. I could go on and on about this location, it really was perfect for us (I haven’t even mentioned the nearby ice-cream shop, restaurants and beach onsens!). I really hope we can come back someday and stay again!

Ocean View Resort Hotel is located in the famous beach in Nagata Inaka-HAMA spawning of sea turtles. Please watch the sunset from the deck of a sinking ocean that is attached to the room.
This hotel is right on the most beutiful beach of Yakushima. It's a bit off so you definitively need to rent a car to stay here. The rooms are ok for two, but small if you are more than that. The bed, as usual in Japan, was much to hard for me The bathroom is really small, but on the other hand, you are not there for the bathroom. The room, as well as the common areas are kept very clean. The service is really great. The women who runs the hotel only speaks japanese but they really try with Google translate to answer questions and explain things. The food is fantastic. Dinner is like 10 different japanese dishes and breakfast maybe 8. Also they tryed to adapt the menu somewhat when they saw that our daughter wanted a somewhat westernized menu. So this is of course important to know before you come here, the food is truly japanes. We love that. Not everyone does. The beach beutiful and right outside the room. Swimming is great, but not for small children as waves can get rather big and it gets deep as soon as you enter. There is some nice snorkeling just 100 meters to the right of the hotel. Very little corals but lots of different tropical fish. Turtles in big numbers come to nest on the beach and if you are lucky you might get to see that, or see the whils snorkeling. There are guided night tours on the beach for that purpose. The only thing we missed, as often is the case in japanese beach hotels, was sunchairs. Highly recommend this hotel, but think twice before you bring small children.

What a wonderful place with lovely hosts and great food! We spent a couple of nights here as a family and enjoyed every single second of it. Not only the whole island is a very special place, but this minshuku made the stay even more special. Clean rooms, friendly people and great food on top! The flying fish is especially memorable.

Guests have access to a 24 hour front desk, a concierge, and shops while staying at Tashiro Bekkan. In addition, Tashiro Bekkan offers a sauna, which will help make your Yakushima-cho trip additionally gratifying. And, as an added convenience, there is free parking available to guests. Best of all, Tashiro Bekkan makes it easy to experience some great Yakushima-cho attractions like Ruins of Kosugidani Village, which is a popular historic site. Enjoy your stay in Yakushima-cho!
A traditional Japanese style ryokan in serene surroundings. Our room had a beautiful view of the river and greenery. In the day time, a table was set up with a traditional tea set, and when we got back in the evenings, it was transformed into the bedroom with our beds neatly made for us. The onsite onsen was a welcome facility after days of hiking. This place is close to the Miyanoura Port, and right next to the bus stop that you need to get around the whole island. The people who run this place are incredible, they went out of their way to help us get around the place, and treated us like family. Highly recommend a stay here to unplug and unwind.

We stayed 7 nights, and chose this guest house based on previous reviews. Probably because of end of year timing, there were no English speaking staff. The guest house was run by a very lovely elderly couple who ensured we were comfortable despite language barriers. This was the main reason for 5-star review. The tatami room was large and comfortable, but always smelt damp on entering. Had a sink in the room which was useful. The bath was just divine everyday after long hikes. We were the only guests for a few days, and realised the walls were quite thin on days with other guests. Most people were considerate of this. Free use of washing machine, dryer 100yen. Breakfast and dinners were great, traditional Japanese style - a must try. Ramen shop to the left of guest house is not on google maps - also a must try (just walk next door). We are a minute drive from large supermarket and yen store, and across from that is an amazing cafe/restaurant with top quality pasta and pizza, plus other fusion dishes. Perfect for a rainy slow day. Hired hiking for 2-days shoes for 1000yen. Very new and clean. They forgot to order our bento lunch boxes, and elderly gentleman was awake at 430am making rice balls for us that he would not charge us for. Very deserving of 5-stars and great to support a local family. Also check out Bless Yakushima in Anbo!

The location is excellent, 3 minutes away from the harbor, across the street is a grocery store. The inn keeper is very friendly and helpful; every morning he made us a delicious bento box for lunch to take to the hike. He speaks very limited English; a conversation is not possible. The rooms are Japanese style which we loved. The Inn itself seems to be a bit neglected; the hallway smells like a wet dog however we did not see a dog during our 3-night-stay. The toilet itself is clean but the corners store plenty of dust. It's a bit difficult to review this place because everyone is so incredible friendly, the tatami mats are comfy and the food especially dinner is delicious but you need to overlook the unattended spaces. The cleanliness left something to be desired. Be aware you have to pay in cash.

A dining room, a kitchen, living, a refrigerator, You can use it . I prepared for the room Ashley's queen-size bed. Lighting and furniture imported. Teatime is carried out, looking at a Mottyom mountain on a terrace, or it goes into the open-air bath of the quality of an alkaline spring containing radon, metasilicic acid, etc., -- Please relax slowly.
After travelling in south western Japan for a while this was a perfect place to relax, the gardens are lush, beautifully laid out and have great mountain views, the outdoor spring fed bath took the relaxation to a higher level! The house itself is a lovely, comfortable well crafted building, we dined in, enjoying the quiet evenings, the kitchen has everything you'd need and the Acoop supermarket in nearby Anbo is well stocked. If you don't hire a car it's an easy walk from the bus stop to Hana Mana and the bus service is, as you'd expect, very good. If you enjoy gardens you'll love Hana Mana and you'll enjoy the Botanical Research Park, just a stroll down the road.
