Just three hours from Bangkok, Ko Samet is a favorite weekend beach getaway for expats and locals alike. However, most tourists head further south for their island breaks. Most of the island is protected as part of Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet National Park, making it clean and relatively unspoiled. The island offers a variety of resorts, from the quiet and family-orientated to those catering to the party-till-dawn crowd.

The staff at the resort were really friendly, especially the maids. The resort itself could do with more upkeep; the grounds are full of dead leaves and don’t seem well cared for. Mosquitoes are a big problem. Our cottage was fine and spacious, with a large bathroom. Getting service in the restaurant was difficult as there were many large groups of Thai people. I waited 40 mins for a glass of wine and almost an hour for 1 grilled fish. Breakfast is either Thai rice soup (which is good) or a very low quality American breakfast of overcooked eggs and hotdogs etc. The pool has chairs but without pads so they are uncomfortable. Overall, Ko Samet does not really have a good price Vs quality ratio, so this resort was acceptable for this island.

To whom it may concern Ref: Paradee Resort, Koh Samed, Thailand We have just completed a 5 night stay at the Paradee Resort, Koh Samed and would like to share our comments This resort is listed as a 5star luxury resort at a price of approx USD 780/night and offered by the resort directly as a super sale at approx USD 530/night! This Hotel is NOT, we repeat NOT a five star property and should not be listed as such, eventually max 3 Star In detail: From the arrival up until our departure this stay was an insult for services provided and the price/quality ratio. There is no General Manager, it seems he has left some time ago. Whilst the staff was very friendly, they were completely incompetent. (Inexperienced and not trained etc) This as a result of the lack of guidance from a General Manager, the only “Manager” on site was a rooms division manager who graced us with her presence on the island on day 4 (as she is working at the other 5 Samed resorts) Extremely poor maintenance (cleanliness, old torn and very spotted bedding) We all suffered from Bedflees and bugs and our bodies were covered with bites Broken lamps, which we asked to replace on arrival, were still unattended to 5 days later despite our repeated daily requests There is no evening fumigation on the grounds, which in such a climate (and for a 5 star should be standard) Now to the Food & Beverage: to add insult to injury the F@B would not even be fit for a 2-3 star property. There was no Breakfast Buffet, no staple ingredients for Breakfast or dinner (fruit, Vegetables etc), we were just told that they don’t have it. No availability of Champagne, when wines ran out….. they were not replaced etc On the day of our departure some kind of Buffet was set up…… TOO LITTLE TOO LATE! It is important to report this as clients (especially overseas ones) are extremely deceived by this misrepresentation, which is dishonest and despicable and totally unacceptable! We are extremely well travelled worldwide and experienced and we have never had such a horrible experience. All Properties have Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in order to maintain the quality and consistency of service and standards. This Property has no SOP‘s ! - [ ]

Great value for money. Had a bungalow right on the beach. White sand and beautiful clear water. Staff excellent, especially Dom the barman. Clean and tidy rooms. Peaceful. Plenty of options nearby for breakfast and dinner. Lunch on the beach from street food sellers was delicious. I will definitely come back.

My last visit to Tubtim was 4 years ago and the place remains the same. A bit better value this time around simply by paying far, far less. At one point there was a pier being built on the beach but I guess it was temporary as it is no longer there, the beach is as beautiful as ever. Service in the restaurant had improved. Breakfast as expected of this type of resort. The mosquitoes are still hovering like crazy - bring plenty of mosquito repellent.

Absolutely disgusting. Had an ocean view pad, not cheap at all. The place was disgusting, dead insects everywhere where it had not been cleaned, ants everywhere, bitten so much I had two sleepless nights. Staff were asked nicely to put it right, was ignored by the guy on the desk, Mrs then went firm at them in Thai, they sent cleaners in, still wasn't cleaned. Restaurant menu is laughable for a place of this cost. Breakfast starts at 8, was cold when we tried to eat at 8:15. Obviously we then ate elsewhere for the entire stay. So much more to add, but will save this to send to head office along with the rest of the photos.

The staff at the resort are all very friendly and helpful, the resort is very tidy, picturesque & rooms are comfortable & impeccably clean. Had a great time here and would stay again

I've been coming to this island for over 2O years. Hand on heart, this is probably the best place I've stayed, here's why: The views of the ocean from our beach side bungalow was breathtaking. The staff were super friendly and helpful but also gave us space. The private beach is a sanctuary when the Island get a bit too full on, yet its a stroll away if we wanted to get involved. The room was functional, spotless and had everything we needed. The only thing missing from the resort was a restaurant but hey, there's tons a few minutes away. If you're looking for paradise on Samed, stop, you just found it!
