Stayed at this hotel on Monday 31st May for one night. Hotel was very clean and had attentive staff. Michael was particularly helpful. We had Dinner Bed and Breakfast which was good value and both meals were very good. Hotel was close to amenities and room was great. Good value for money and we shall be back

Situated on the level seafront of this hugely popular Victorian seaside resort stands the welcoming Dilkhusa Grand Hotel. The hotel was originally a private house, bought by a Raj at the turn of the last century as a gift to his wife - Dilkhusa translates from Hindustani roughly as ‘House of the Happy Heart!’ The hotel overlooks the picturesque Runnymede gardens and is close to the Landmark theatre which attracts many national acts. It is also just a short walk from the bustling 10th-century harbour where Britain’s most famous living artist, Damien Hirst, owns a restaurant. The Dilkhusa has a well-appointed restaurant combining excellent hospitality and service. A spacious and comfortable entertainments suite provides the ideal setting in which to sit back and enjoy the acts at this friendly and sociable hotel...
My party of 4 recently stayed at the hotel on a self drive basis. Yes, the Hotel is tired and parts need updating but we considered it value for money. The food was as expected - value for money BUT the Hotel exceeded all our expectations in terms of staff. All hospitality sectors currently seem short staffed nowadays but every member of staff we encountered was helpful, friendly, professional and complied with our requests. All seemed extremely busy but found time to talk and sometimes laugh with us. They deserve a special mention and our thanks.

Stayed here for two nights, room no.3. Lovely and spacious, with only one window in the corner of the room but lovely view out to the harbour. Only reason we’ve marked this as a four is because the mattress was a little worn, sagging on one side. Having said that we slept well. Ian was a very warm friendly host, checked us in on no time, and the breakfast - wow! A seemingly simple Full English was just beautiful…cooked by the very friendly Jo and it was a pleasure to meet her and the very nice waitress on day 2. Lovely spread of offerings apart from cooked and the coffee was flowing…all done to a very high standard and set us up for the day. Top tips: we needed a 24 hr car park but at first could only find a ‘Euro car park’ behind the Wetherspoons which had a maximum of 3 hours…turns out there’s a big open air car park just along side the rear of the church. Drive around there towards the harbour and turn right as the road goes and you’ll see it. £8 for 24 hours which we thought was very reasonable. Ok, a 5 min walk uphill from there to the hotel but it’s worth it. Also, the Olive Branch is up a short hill around the back of the Wetherspoons, so very convenient for end of day drinks! (The harbour had a very narrow nice looking pub too but we never managed to get there. Worth an explore down to see Damien Horst impressive statue. All in all we’d return to the Olive Branch again for sure!

We recently stayed at this wonderful B and B. Alison and Adrian are amazing hosts ably assisted by Alison's parents. We arrived late because of the traffic but were able to update our hosts who were very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them. Upon arrival we were shown to our very pleasant spacious room which was well appointed. Our bed was really comfy and the quietness of the room was just what we wanted after escaping from our hectic city lives. Breakfast was a choice of scrumptious takeaway boxes or a sandwich in the dining room, there was a choice so as we were staying several days we chose to do a different box daily. All were exceptional and packed with local food and I wont spoil the surprise by saying what they were. Centrally located between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe we were able to go to both areas and Adrian used his knowledge of being in the local coastguard to point out the quieter places to go. I would certainly recommend Mullacott Farm and we will be returning as there is more to explore in the area. Ilfracombe is such a quaint town with many fine eating establishments.

Beautiful hotel grounds with amazing views! We booked for an early dinner at 3:30 over the phone. When we arrived it took a while to be seated there didn’t seem to be any staff around but by 3:45 we had picked a table and had menus so whilst we was looking at what to have my husband went to get us drinks to then be told the kitchen closed at 4pm so we had to quickly choose what to have. Most of the food was unavailable however the food we did have was nice.. I would have thought that it would have been table service but it was order at the bar. Wine list was a great selection All in all we did have a lovely time

We had a great stay at Varley House. Our hosts were welcoming and the rooms were just perfect. We actually stayed on our outward leg to Lundy and then again on our return. It is in a great location, just above the harbour and close enough to walk everywhere. Great breakfasts too.
