We are a local family business offering a unique combo: with Midgard Base Camp as hostel/hotel and restaurant and Midgard Adventure as a tour operator and travel agency. Meet and chat here with locals and fellow travelers. Events such as concerts of local Icelandic artists, free yoga-classes and others are taking place at Midgard Base Camp on a regular basis. A sweet plus for only the overnight guests, Midgard offers a rooftop hot tub and sauna with spectacular views on gracing horses, mountains and the world famous Eyjafjallajokull.

UMI hotel is located by one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the country; the hotel is only about 150 km away from Reykjavik and 2 km off the Ring road (Road NR. 1). Our location offers a strong connection to nature that allows our guests to experience the peace and quiet of the Icelandic countryside. The hotel offers a first class restaurant with a unique view of the Westman Islands and the southern coastline, as well as a lounge bar with a view of the famous sub-glacial volcano Eyjafjallajokull and the beautiful mountain terrain surrounding it. Next to our hotel the river Svadbaelisa peacefully flows by. The starlit skies and northern lights certainly won’t let anyone down over the winter months. The hotel is non-smoking and open all year round.
The hotel is ok but given the market (and the quality of hotels in the other regions such as Torfhus, Retreat at Blue Lagoon and Edition in Reykjavik) and the prices, the breakfast, the room preparation and indeed the sizes of rooms could be better. Bottom line is that it apparently the best place on the South Coast - but that is the standard it is measured against.. The restaurant food was excellent I should not so perhaps 5 stars for that part.

Lindartun is an awesome guesthouse! It is clean and tidy and the room was very spacious. The common areas and kitchen are super cute and modern, and there was plenty of space in those too. They even had a shelf of DVDs that you can pick from to bring back to your room and watch. I loved that it was very quiet and situated a bit out of the way in the lovely countryside with great views. Not too far of a drive to the town where there are a few restaurants if you want to pick up some dinner.

Hotel Fljotshlid is a pleasant country hotel in the region of Fljotshlid, one of the most beautiful farming districts in Iceland. It's located 13 km from the town Hvolsvollur. The hotel has 14 spacious rooms with private bathroom and cable TV in each room. Breakfast is included in the price. Unlimited wireless internet access is free for hotel guests. A hot tub is located on-site. The hotel is located on the working farm Smaratun and a stay there will give you a touch of the daily life in Icelandic countryside, with closeness to nature and local culture. Smaratun intends to operate sustainable, bearing in mind the interests of future generations.
We arrived late at night and they gave us a room with 2 beds put together for one person and a twin room for me and my husband so we've had to exchange it and carry the sheets to the hallway in the middle of the night. The furniture is old, ugly and dusty. It wasn't even reconditioned. The sheets and towels also old. We asked if we could get an early breakfast (30 min earlier than the usual hour) and they never came back with the answer... We confirmed our check out between 10 am and 11am and at 10:30 they knocked at the door and ask us either to live or pay to extend the stay. It is the first time that something like this happens. The mattress was good and the breakfast was ok.

The Volcano Huts are located in Húsadalur Valley in the THórsmörk Nature Reserve in Iceland, right next to the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano & Glacier. The unique nature of the THórsmörk area make this an ideal place for hiking and nature exploring. We offer rustic mountain hut accommodation, local food, tours and activities for groups and individuals. Volcano Huts offer simple accommodation in small cottages, shared cabin-dorms, small private bedrooms and camping grounds. Our accommodations are quite rustic and in keeping with other mountain huts in Iceland but offer the option of small private cottages and rooms with made up beds. THórsmörk Nature Reserve, has one of Iceland's most dynamic and beautiful landscapes, where active volcanoes and towering glaciers rise above the lush valleys below. The THórsmörk area has endless hiking trails and is connected to the Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve via the Laugavegur hiking trail and Skógar via the Fimmvorduhals trail. The LavaGrill Restaurant & bar offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks, homemade cakes and coffee. We can also send you off with a packed lunch to take with you on your hike. The bar offers a selection of local beers and other drinks. How to get here - IMPORTANT! Please note that you will have to take a special mountain bus to get here as you will have to cross big rivers on the way. You can take the bus all the way from Reykjavik or leave your car and hop onboard the bus at various stops along the way.
We backpacked the Laugavegur Trail and this was our terminus. We had stayed in the huts along the way which is more comfortable than tent camping as kitchens and cookware are available as well as sleeping mats. This particular venue provides three types of sleeping: your own tent (free), "glamping" tents or small dorm-style rooms with shared indoor toilets. A well stocked shop/restaurant with good food and some picnic items forms the base of the operation. There is a small sauna and a natural hot tub available. There are outdoor showers also. If you don't hike to the location you can get here by bus. There are amazing trails all around to hike or run. Overall, a beautiful slice of Iceland!

Ármót Guesthouse consists of two buildings, the Ármót Guesthouse and the Ármót Fishing Lodge. Located in one of Iceland’s most beautiful spots with fantastic river and mountain views. It's close to many of South Iceland’s most popular natural attractions, including the Golden circle. With a horse farm on site, this guesthouse is perfect for experiencing the Icelandic farm life as guests are free to go into the staples and interact with the horses. Ármót Guesthouse offers a range of outdoor activities, such as super jeeps tours, day tours around the area, salmon fishing, goose hunting and horse riding. Both Ármót Guesthouse and Ármót Fishing Lodge offer six beautiful and fully furnished bedrooms. There are common lounges on both sites, where guests can relax and enjoy the stunning views.
Very clean hotel, with nice decor, kind staff and basic breakfast. We loved the silence in the hotel and outside. Also Netflix and Amazon Prime is available if you need it. The bathrooms are shared between 2 or 3 rooms but there was no issue with it at all.

This hotel had good sized rooms that were clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet was decent quality and there were a couple of restaurants nearby. On the downside the hot tubs we were told about on check-in were empty, and be aware that it seems this hotel is used by large tour groups on coaches.

We picked Borg Apartments as our base for two nights for exploring the South Coast and the Westman Islands. It could also be a good choice for Highland detours to Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk. Before our arrival we got all the information we needed for contactless check-in. All apartments have key boxes. There were enough parking spaces for all guests. The apartment was a decent size with a fridge and a well-equipped kitchen (microwave, oven, pots/pans etc.). We had picked up groceries in Selfoss on the way and were able to self-cater during our stay. The location worked out well for what we had planned and I would not hesitate to book again.
