The newly refurbished Woodman Inn has been transformed throughout to offer guests a relaxed experience in luxury surroundings. The Woodman Inn offers a warm cozy pub downstairs and a more refined dining experience in our first floor restaurant which can also be hired out privately for weddings/functions etc...We now have 10 double bedrooms & 3 cottages all with luxurious en-suite facilities and toiletries provided by Temple Spa, digital televisions and complimentary WiFi available throughout.
Its been a couple of months since our last Woodman visit, and that's definitely at least a couple of months too long!! Its a stunning venue, beautiful gardens and a really lovely pub, restaurant, inside... We only do lunchtime as we can't keep our eyes open beyond 3pm these days, so really pleased to see the restaurant offering a full menu every lunchtime now. After a drink in the garden, we nibbled on some delicious chicken wings whilst deciding on lunch... Service was good, a great wine list, and a menu with so many great options. Black Pudding Scotch Egg was gorgeous, as was the lentil daal.. followed by beautifully cooked lamb and a wonderful pork chop! The food was faultless.... We realised that we had missed our Woodman visits and left knowing we were going to book again next week!!? No better recommendation needed. Excellent job, well done everybody. See you soon. ??

I was very impressed with my stay at the hotel, particularly the warm welcome I received. The room was very good. I asked for a high floor and was given one. The hotel is a little way from the town centre, but great for what I wanted.

We stayed for 2 nights in May to attend a wedding. Nothing was to much trouble from check in to check out. Nicole & Sholab were so helpful and friendly, also Sandra ( I think that was her name) who helped us with a taxi on the Saturday. The room was clean and comfy. We ate in the restaurant 1st night and had breakfast next morning again excellent value and friendly staff. We will definitely be back

Visited Briar court on the 1st May for a wedding package day Great day, good location for the hotel and great in many area’s with helpful staff Had to drop a star as room could do with a little bit of TLC with cracks at side of doors or in ceiling that could easily be rectified Room was nice and clean, but was way too hot over the night even with heating all turned off and windows open, not sure where the heat was coming from, Plus also we ended up getting a unlucky room that was straight at top of a stair-Well with a door for the corridor, which kept us awake with guests going up late at night talking and going through the doors Another small issue is Kettle once boiled gets burning hot, on the handles, I nearly dropped it, when burnt my hand Bar prices was a little bit over the top, but reasonable, Breakfast, we woke up at 8:40am and by time got kids up at 8:55 we thought we had missed breakfast so didn’t go down, as all paperwork in rooms say 9am but then since we have left been told they extended it until 10am, would have been nice to know this as paid for room with breakfast 2adults/2 children £135. so can’t comment on the breakfast. Thought the bathroom was very nice,

Some sites advertise this as a four star hotel; pure comedy gold. The bedroom may have sufficed for a family run establishment in a faded seaside resort that was last revamped in the early 90s. The impossibly hard double bed was afforded the luxury of two of the thinnest and most miserable pillows imaginable. No others were available in the room (even Premier Inn offer extras in room) Oh but the bathroom. Awful. I can only assume that it was originally fitted in a soviet era gulag before finding a second life in Huddersfield. This bathroom with its disgusting and badly fitted toilet seat would embarrass a one star hotel. After a completely sleepless night from the road noise I left the hotel as quickly as possible, not even staying for breakfast. I just wanted to get out of there and I will never go back. Worst hotel under the Cedar Court brand I have ever experienced.

Checked in about 10pm, taken 30mins to get the room key just because he need to find out can I pay cash or not! When we entered the room, a heat wave blown out, the room temperature was 34 degrees! Heater was still on, open the window taken more than 3 hours to just dropping 4 degrees, turn on the electric fan and it fallen apart, one blade has broken and the cover nearly dropped on my foot, told the reception to change a room, and he said all reserved, only replace the fan. Couldn’t sleep all night because it was too hot, the temperature control is useless, it only tell the current temperature but can’t control it! About the wifi, didn’t have any information how to connect it, ask the reception, then he given me a piece of paper with password, but still useless, couldn’t connect it at all. Because their website said customer can request for late checkout so we tried to request for late checkout until 11am and the reception said need to ask the staff next day morning, so next day I went down and ask the staff but she said they don’t do late checkout, and we need to get out by 10am. The breakfast was also a joke, I went down about 9am and ask the reception where is the breakfast, then she gave me 2 token for the coffee machine, and then she went inside a room, may be kitchen and handed me two paper bags! I went to my room, and each bag has 1 muffin, 1 instant Porridge, a biscuit and a carton of orange juice! Continental Breakfast?! What a joke! Also we can not contact the reception with the phone in our room, so I need to went up and down to dealing with all the issues!

I recently had my 40th birthday party at The Venue. We hired the Club Room which also included the Lounges and Cinema Room. What a fantastic place! The rooms are beautiful with a gorgeous outdoor terrace area and fire pits. The DJ booth and lighting they have here is fantastic. We had our own DJs which wasn’t a problem for them. We decided to go with hot beef sandwiches and wedges for the food which was delicious. They also provided a vegan option. We were so impressed with the drinks prices too. Most places that host parties have sky high prices but they are super reasonable here. I would highly recommended this place for any event. They are so accommodating and always easy to contact with any questions on the run up to your party.

New boutique restaurant with rooms set in a period property. Events venue, bars, bistro and gym/studio.
Not so much a hotel, more an events venue. Told the roof terrace (when open) is for private parties only. What sort of hotel doesn’t allow guests onto its terrace? Breakfast was served in the coffee shop; no buffet, just order off the menu. Breakfast was nice, coffee not so much. Katie on the front desk does a good job marketing the hotel on the phone and was very pleasant in person. Rooms darkly modern but clean. Lantern restaurant dark and somewhat damp smelling. Great old building in its own smallish grounds. Quiet nice but not the best, sadly.
