Bit more paperwork required, as evidence of Covid double jabs and recent negative antigen test needed. Car parking spaces in basement very small but managed to park in electric charging bay. Room great and lots of fresh air when window to balcony opened. Fridge pretty useless. Better keeping milk on cold balcony. Dinner very good but only one waiter with adequate English. Had local delicacy of baby goat - excellent but a lot of bone. TV stations with Olympics on were great, but no English language news channels. Bathroom fabulous.

Perfect location, all you need for a great stay in Guarda
Reviewed By twocreativetravelersAfter a long day on the road we were very happy to find such a quaint, well priced and well located hotel. Hotel Santos is literally built up against and among the old fortifications. The main sights (cathedral etc) are within 3-4 minute walk at the most. As Guarda is a medieval town, the streets are quite narrow and mostly 1way but we didn't have any issues finding the hotel itself. Parking was a bit of a concern but we safely left our vehicle near the Police Station about 200 meters from the hotel entrance. Parking was paid but affordable. The room itself was quite basic and as other reviews have stated it is focused on function rather than fashion. We were very pleased with our room as it was exactly what we were after. Breakfast was a feast, there were several servers to help you pick out what you'd like. There was plenty of choice on offer from breads to croissants to toast, yoghurt, cereal etc. The setting for breakfast (on the top floor, accessible via elevator or stairs) was beautiful as well. All in all this was a very good stay for us, no frills but we loved the location and small town feel. The staff was very friendly and check-in was easy despite a language barrier (which is on us, we don't speak Portuguese).

Reviewed By Marlies AWe were fortunate to find this fine restaurant. Although it is also a Pension, it serves really great meals. We opted for meat and really had a little feast. The service was excellent, people as usually around this town, very nice and friendly.

Reviewed By ShloimeGuarda is an ugly place one should avoid. It seems that this province center is popular place for groups accommodation, since they get low prices just for nights sleep. Ferrinho hotel is one of these economy hotel that serves just for that purpose. We booked the hotel by booking , and were glad to hear from the unpleasant lady owning the place that the hotel is full. We let Booking handle them and gladly found very nice place nearby .Try Serra da Estrela Natural Park villages like Porto da Carne and others which are beautiful and have small and nicer places. Restaurant Cova da Loba in Largo da Igreja village was the best we had in all our Portugal trip.

uncomfortable stay, unfriendly people
Reviewed By sabwinewe stayed in this hotel for a couple of days. But we would leave earlier if it was possible. (friends were sick, so they needed to stay). Some of the personnel are friendly, but there's 1 person working there, who isn't fitting in a hotel-environment at all. We were almostaffraid to ask something, because she looked angry and wasn't friendly at all. We especially waited to ask/order something untill the other friendly hotel-worker arrived. She was really friendly and kind. The stay was cheap, but being friendly (or acting friendly) doesn't cost any money... When we ate breakfast, the woman counted (litteraly) everything we took. A friend of us couldn't get any fruitjuice when it was 9.30u. (we saw her putting it away, and breakfast time was untill 10.00)... When he asked for fruitjuice, she first said that there wasn't anymore left. When we said we saw her putting it away, she claimed that one of our friends took too much juice, so there was 'no more left for the other person'. because 1 person, took too much juice... And then she counted everything we ate!! she knew everything we took and could say it out loud... this is an emergency-stay-place, like we did. It was cheap, but it was even not worth that money. It's also 5 km away from the center. Only one tip: Go for an other option if you want to stay in Guarda! :)

Reviewed By renrjonkiesBij de hartelijke ontvangst vertelden de eigenaar en zijn zoon ons bij een lekker glaasje port hoe ze een paar jaar geleden de geheel in verval geraakte boerderij uit de puinhopen hadden opgebouwd. Nu runnen en bewonen ze als familie de quinta. Onze kamer was niet zo groot en bood geen extra faciliteiten, de badkamer was wel ruim. Centraal in het huis is echter een grote en gezellig ingerichte woonkamer rond een houtkachel, waar je lekker kunt relaxen, even op de pc werken of anderen kunt ontmoeten. Koffie en thee kun je in de keuken maken en wij mochten ook wat spullen in de koelkast zetten. In de ontbijtkamer wordt 's morgens vanaf 9.00 uur een heerlijk ontbijt door de eigenaar uitgeserveerd en hij waakt ervoor dat alles naar wens is! Geen buitenzitje bij de kamer, maar wel een zwembad met ligstoelen en een picknicktafel. Parkeren op het priveterrein. De accommodatie ligt buiten de stad in het boerenland. Bloemenweiden, koeien, bremgele bergen, een heerlijke omgeving. Naar Guarda is het 10 minuten rijden.met de auto.

Good Overnight
Reviewed By Rocketman53The low prices should be an indicator that this ain't the Ritz. It is an old building now a "guesthouse". It is right on the main square, across from the cathedral, convenient to the downtown. Don't depend on your Google Maps to find the place. The app output didn't (in my case) square with the actual location. However, it is well marked. The entry is on the side. The owner is a fine guy, very hospitable. He made us feel welcome, and helped point out some nearby features, such as coffee house and restaurants. Rooms were like something at Hogwarts, with plenty of character. Beds were comfortable. Place was clean. The tiny shower enclosures made taking one an adventure. Easy to knock the temp control and get a quick HOT or COLD shock. The bar crowd down below were incredibly noisy - particularly the football louts with leather lungs. This kept up until very early morning. Later we ran into these idiots on the square, still shouting and being loutish. For an overnight it was just fine. Very convenient. Would I spend any extended time there? Ummm, probably not.

Holiday houses for rent in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. Located 15 km from the city centre, near the Caldeirão dam, these houses are located within the centenary Quinta da Alqueidosa. The manor house transformed and remodeled to allow the creation of 4 houses with 3 bedrooms, living room, 3 bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen so you can dine inside! Outside, there is a shared area where there is a barbecue and dining tables with kitchen utensils. A snooker table for free use and a seating area with sofas and 65' TV. For fitness fans you can also count on a mini gym with some maintenance machines. Overlooking the mountains in this magical place, you will find the 15m long and 9 wide swimming pool that will provide you with great games or moments of pure relaxation. It is possible to rent bicycles to freely ride around the surrounding area and visit the beauty of the valley where it is located. If you are more adventurous, there are kayaks for hire that you can use in a private lagoon! Come experience moments and create the best memories with your family or group of friends!

I've been in "Casa Oliveira" and you can see that everything was planned with special details that makes you feel at home. For sure, one place to come back for another vacations in the future.
