The White Swan, or as locals call it, The Swan is an iconic country hotel in the heart of Greytown, with a real passion for the region. At The Swan, we celebrate the best of what the Wairarapa has to offer, through our food, beverages, accommodation, and warm rural hospitality. Located right in the centre of Greytown and just 15 minutes from Martinborough Wine Village, The White Swan is in the heart of the Wairarapa - the perfect place to base yourself for some time away. They have a great selection of suites and garden rooms available. The suites, created by interior designer Michael Nalder, are located upstairs within the hotel. The suites are individually themed, providing a truly unique experience. The garden rooms are offset from the road, each with its own courtyard, and doors out onto the oak trees and neighbouring park.
Over the years we have stayed in various rooms and apartments here and it is exactly as it describes, a country hotel catering for the urban market. This time we stayed in the White room upstairs and this has an outlook out the back of the property so I'm guessing it is quieter than the street facing rooms. The room is large and spacious with a kitchen cupboard, lounge and entrance areas and separate spacious bathroom with bath and a very small shower. On the cleaning/housekeeping front: Please install a soap dispenser in the shower cubicle or supply a couple of pieces of soap. The tiles in the shower has very unsightly black mould. BIG TIP: Use Janola/Bleach Toilet Duck (it banishes the black mould instantly). The wooden bathroom floor, I suspect is swept but it needs a regular mop clean (it was dirty). The windows also need a clean (cobwebs, bird poo) very unsightly. (my partner noticed this) Instead of the sachets of dishwash be more environmentally friendly by supplying a small (refillable) bottle of dishwash. as the landfill does not need more discarded bits of plastic. Recommend to book in advance for Fri/Sat night dining; we had a meal in the Bar dining room and it was fine (F & C's and a Burger). The service throughout was very good. Due to deal we had, there were complimentary beverages for us in our room. Much appreciated. We did enjoy our stay and would return.

Greyfriars Motel located in the heart of Greytown Heritage area. There are 15 cottage style motel units, all stylishly decorated in open plan settings and within walking distance to shops, cafes & restaurants. A great base for your Wairarapa experience.
Location in Greytown = perfect For people with a disability it’s well laid out. Everything looks well kept and the people really wanted to help. Beds were good, the heating good, just right for a wet weekend in my case… Tonnes of cafes & restaurants close by also which makes a difference.

Shy Cottage,a charming self contained cottage situated at the back of our private garden. The bedroom with a comfortable king size bed has an en-suite attached with shower and old fashioned claw bath. There is also a lounge and dining area and fully equipped kitchen, a private court yard and barbecue shed. Shy Studio is our studio style accommodation which is very comfortably furnished and lots of personal touches, which will make your stay a memorable one. The studio has a super king bed which can be split into twin singles
What more could you ask for. We stayed in Shy Cottage for just one night. Everything is very efficient with a pin code for the key e mailed to you. We never met the owners but their correspondence says that they are available if you need. They had left the cottage warm which was lovely as we arrived in the early evening in not great weather. There is tons of space for 2 people and you can just relax. Fantastic bathroom amenities and excellent hot drink options. We would certainly return.

Picturesque campground set amidst mature native bush. Situated down a quiet side street, but only 500 metres away from the centre of Greytown village, cafe, and shops. 30 Powered sites and 55 unpowered sites. Two amenity blocks with full facilities and one of these also has wheelchair access. A children's playground and non-heated swimming pool (only open in summer) are immediately adjacent to the campground, as well as the local tennis courts, which are available to hire.
Camped here very regularly over the last few years. It’s a blissful site, tucked amongst trees on the fringe of a mellow town. The campsite is meticulously managed. There’s something old fashioned about it, which is absolutely not a veiled suggestion that the place is beyond sell by date. It’s amenities are on the mark and spruce and cared for. A wonderful site for children and in a beautiful neighbourhood. Ken and Nina manage this place with warmth, kindness and commitment. Hospitality at its very best. Sadly, no more staying here. Moving permanently, just down the road - lock, stock and dogs. That’s how seductive this camp ground and its hosts are.

We stayed here during Easter. Our apartment was at rear of the property. The owner has created a lovely and tastefully decorated little oasis which is perfect - some real thought and care has gone into all the decisions made in setting this up, right down to the personalised instructions on arrival - a very classy touch. Highly recommended.

Anita is a lovely hostess, her home is delightful. It is so welcoming, warm and clean and the breakfast is yummy. We had a lovely three night visit and I would go back if ever in that area. The fire was always burning was so nice to walk in to a lovely warm place as we had had snow which was exciting.

The Greytown Hotel, set in the heart of the Wairarapa and considered to be one of the oldest hotels in New Zealand.
We were a group of MG enthusiasts after a busy day of events. Our booking was for 6 but most of us arrived much earlier. They were most accomadating and happy to provide drinks in the restaurant area. The food was tapa style and so yummy. We had the king salmon, cured meat lamb kebabs, pork belly and a salad. I also had the plum dumplings as a pud. All highly recommended especially the beetroot cured salmon. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. Good service especially chatting with the Austrian chef. Good wine list and hubby was most impressed by the Irish whiskey list. We will be back.

Rolling into Greytown the Sunday after Christmas, we were lucky to land the Large One Bedroom Unit. Check-in and check-out are at the pub counter of the Greytown Hotel next door. This type of motel gives a taste of how kiwi families travel. In addition to the double and single bed in the separate bedroom, there were 2 single beds in the lounge. My husband, who has a bad back, found one of them had the firmest mattress. The lounge was huge, with a sofa and small table and chairs. The kitchenette with microwave provided basic plates and cutlery. Wash your dishes before you leave. Basic accommodation but spacious, pleasant, and good value.
