This is my second time through Gallup in the last six months. I picked it again because it was convenient, right off the I-40 and clean. They had a nice breakfast buffet. It is right across the street from the railroad tracks, which I find relaxing, however you might want to choose somewhere else if that noise would bother you.

Hotel is clean, easy to access from the interstate, and has nice amenities. The pool was closed for maintenance, but we weren't going to use it anyway. The parking lot is convenient and well-lit and secure. The room was very spacious. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to write home about.

I an a Diamond Hilton Honors member. Having stayed at many Hampton Inns over the years, I have never found one to exceed the this one. The staff all went out of their way to greet my wife and me and make us feel welcome and special. The food way exceeded the normal fare. The green chili and pork stew was exceptional. I highly recommend you plan a stop in Gallup and stay at the Hampton Inn. You will not be disappointed.

The El Rancho Hotel is the embodiment of America’s Old West. According to author Russell A. Olsen, “As you enter the historic El Rancho through the stately front entry, you immediately realize this was and still is a special place….During its heyday, the El Rancho Hotel was one of the premier hotels in the entire Southwest and became the place for the Hollywood set to stay when filming in the area. The El Rancho Hotel was one of the premier hotels in the entire Southwest and became the place for the Hollywood set to stay when filming in the area. – Author Russell A. Olsen During its glory years, the El Rancho was the definition of luxury and included many amenities that were lacking in other typical tourist hotels of the day. For 50 years, the El Rancho Hotel greeted guests along Route 66 with class and dignity…Luckily for us, this one-of-a-kind hotel once again greets guests with open arms and enjoys the renewed worldwide interest in Route 66 and its landmarks.” The El Rancho Restaurant primarily serves American and Mexican food including Steaks, Hamburgers, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Tacos, and Tamales. Whether you are in the mood for a Margarita after a long day exploring the Southwest, Fajitas, or a John Wayne Burger, the El Rancho has a meal for you. Great hotel! Very clean, small room but clean and lots of sitting areas in the hotel itself. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Glad we didn't watch the Ghost Adventures episode on this hotel before we stayed, we actually stayed in 1 of the rooms that had some " ghost activity", we may have asked for a different room if we had known, lol.

The gal Felicia at the front desk was so rude and not welcoming at all. She seemed very irritated if we even asked a question. This was our first time staying at this hotel during our many trips to Gallup. We will NEVER stay here again because of her. Definitely not a good job for a rude person like her.

My family and I have been traveling for 2 solid weeks and this is by far the worst hotel we stayed in. Wish I would have spent the extra $30 to stay at a better hotel across the street. It started as I was unloading my car and a woman wanted to bum a cigarette off of me or give her money for one. The room is small and dated. There was a dead moth stuck to our wall and some other bug crawling on the wall in the morning. We had 2 queens (sleeps 4) but only 2 wash cloths, 3 towels and one bar of soap. No conditioner or lotion. No tissue, just a travel packet on the counter. In the bathroom the grab bar was not correctly attached and fell right out of the wall. Bedding was thin and this the only hotel where I have been cold at night (and mind you we were traveling in Colorado prior to this). I also found a random dirty sock on the floor beside the bed. Worst of all, it is SO loud. The freeway traffic is bad, then I heard car alarms going off 3 times. When housekeeping brought their cart to our room it sounded like a freight train coming down the hall. And the staff, while courteous, is not exactly pleasant. I'd also add that being approached by strangers in the parking lot and hearing car alarms and sirens doesn't exactly make me feel safe either. As we were leaving, we wanted to grab some ice for a small cooler and the machine didn't work To their credit, they did offer me ice from a cooler in the lobby. We just wanted to get the heck out. Do yourself a favor and stay someplace else.

I was travelling on 04/28/2022 to Las Vegas so as me, a Certified General Manager of one of the Choice Hotels, to attend 66th Annual Convention. Unfortunately, I had to choose b/c of good reviews & stayed in here on an employee-rate & room, guaranteed with my personal credit card. There is sign at the front desk, declaring that we 'run' the hotel with our own policies. There are different polies between locals & travelers. So that, the front desk overcharged me $50 as a 'caution deposit'. Funny !!! my personal cc is already guaranteeing for my stay & room... whether any damages, if any. "A blind is leading another blind": "As the Gardener so as the Garden". New management, recently taken over; but, the hotel had never passed the QA inspection ; if they run, (I can't say 'manage' since mismanaging the property) the hotel won't ever pass QA in order to keep the Choice Hotels brand /Comfort Inn Flag with an inexperienced lady general manager/may be a daughter of an owner. "Performance Program Zones Scorecard" is NOT "green" to keep the Choice Hotels branded name of Comfort Inn.

Clean hotel and comfortable. We did have some issues to get the room temp comfortable but we tend to have that problem at every hotel. The breakfast was good too. A bit of a different selection than your normal continental breakfast. We’d stay again if we come back to the area.

I stayed one night on business, nice new hotel typical of a Fairfield. The train tracks are a bit close and trains pass on average every 4 minutes. This would not have been a problem if the central A/C would have let me put the fan on constant on to mask the noise, but it won’t let you. Had it not been for ear plugs would not have gotten much sleep. Rest of stay was good. Take ear plugs. Thanks

this hotel is just a scam they will tell you they are placing a hold on your card for $100 for incidentals. what they actually do is take the money out of your account and they will hold it for 5-7 business days before returning it back to your account. I can understand leaving a credit card on file for incidentals but actually charging card is a different story. They are earning interest on this money just not right they say it's their policy i have had money held before but it was released right away as soon as I checked out not taken out and held for 5-7 business days.
