The Lighthouse team are passionate about providing a beautiful, welcoming and safe place for families, friends, couples and solo travellers alike to enjoy. The Lighthouse is itself a Grade II listed country Guest House set in 30 acres of Parkland offering 4 star Sliver Accolade Bed & Breakfast Accommodation and Conference Facilities. The award winning on-site Cafe, Cafe Nouveau, serves freshly made refreshments and hot food daily, catering for all kinds of dietary preferences including vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free diets . We are situated close to the Mendip Hills, Longleat Safari Park and Stourhead, within easy reach of the City of Bath, Wells, Bristol and Cheddar Gorge. We gained our 4 star Silver Accolade Award from Visit England for the 3rd year running for our high quality family friendly accommodation, facilities and service. We love welcoming people from all over the world to this beautiful part of Somerset.
We were a party of 5 adults and two very young children (1 and 2 years); the accommodation was lovely; probably beaten only by the surroundings. The children were kept occupied by the small park area and green space. We also took up the suggestion of having our takeout meal from TOOL & GAUGE Cafe - which was great and a real highlight of the break - sitting in the sun to eat it. Great location if you are visiting Longleat, enjoy a bit of a swim in the morning and/or love to sit back and enjoy a wonderful view. I am a wheelchair user; my personal experience was mixed but I had understood that before I went which is credit to the owners 'The Lighthouse is registered for part time wheel chair users because of the lack of easy level access to all our facilities. Sure we can work out a way that suits you though' So letting me know but then offering me help - this sought of honesty is valued. If you are a wheelchair user I hope this helps; I use a manual slim wheelchair; bedroom was good and easy to navigate; bathroom of a good size for turning; good shower space with what felt like a safe/wide fixed shower chair; grab rails around the toilet. Parking can be arranged right behind the accessible room (with rear entrance then to the bedroom). Internally the venue is hard to navigate and I think this is why the access is not fully suited to all wheelchair users - there are a few steps) BUT you can alternatively go outside the building and access the dining area through the rear double doors, but again you have two external steps, I think the Lighthouse would be able to support wheelchair users if they created two sympathetically designed ramps in order to access the dining room from the rear (the cafe next door has achieved this, by doing so they would hugely benefit from not just wheelchair users but their friends and family in feeling they could book with ease. It would also help support the great work the Lighthouse has already done in making the bedroom/bathroom accessible. If they had the ramps in place I would definitely come back along with my extended family - beautiful place, very warm welcome and fab views.

This is a nice pub right in the centre of Frome, with a nice atmosphere. The service was excellent, the food was good and it was very good value for money. There were areas here and there that showed signs of wear and tear. We would stay there again.

Stayed here for 2 night nights for our Mini Moon, when we booked we called to advise that I am unable to eat Gluten and if they could cater for breakfast. Joss the Owner who was amazing advised if I wanted to bring my favourite gluten free breakfast items to bring them with me (which was much better as I was able to bring scottish lorne sausage) Joss greeted us on arrival and from the get go she was very welcoming and made us feel like we were at home. Our room (Longleat View) was absolutely stunning and the view was incredible. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was clean with a great shower. We had booked tickets for Longleat in advance and the location of The Place to Stay is ideally located as it is only a 15 drive to the safari park. Joss was able to advise on the best arrival time and she was correct! Breakfast was great, I had my own Gluten free Sausage with my own gluten free rolls, my wife had the fully cooked breakfast and it was amazing and plentyful. Overall this was amazing stay with a very comfortable room with great views, Joss is always available if needed also and extremely helpful 10/10 - We will be back!

Hotel - roadside location, quiet and close to all amenities. Good pubs in village and coffee shop next door. We consist of 40 rooms, family and double rooms, and just one accessible room. Reception manned 24 hours a day.
Good location with an M&S foodhall and Starbucks coffee nearby. Room was clean and no noise whatsoever and staff were very helpful. Stayed there because I was attending a wedding locally and ideal location for this.

First recorded as an Inn in the 14th century, the Archangel has an excellent reputation for its vibrant atmosphere, warm hospitality, top quality cuisine and quirky yet first-class accommodations. The ten bedrooms are decorated in deep, rich purples and golds and include luxurious details such as sumptuous velvet curtains, zinc roll-top bathtubs and gold Florentine headboards. Facilities include flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi and Branche d'Olive toiletries. The restaurant is built into a centuries old hay barn adjacent the main house. Ancient stone walls are simply whitewashed and embrace a free-floating glass mezzanine cube. The Archangel serves top quality food using the finest locally sourced ingredients and the stylish bar gives a buzzy atmosphere offering the finest local ales and original cocktails. The Archangel is located right in the centre of Frome, a historic market town with cobbled streets. Bath is only 25-minute drive from the Archangel.'
The Archangel is a quirky and friendly pub/hotel with comfortable characterful rooms, in an interesting building, friendly staff with a good quality restaurant. It is in the centre of Frome, a market town with plenty of character, interesting shops, a fantastic monthly market, that we were lucky to catch and good cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and the couple of evening meals we had in the restaurant, but would have appreciated more choice on the buffet breakfast.

We booked the triple room for £90 including breakfast and it was great value for money. The room had recently been refurbed nicely and had a smart tv. The bathroom could use some TLC but did what it needed to. The room was above the bar so I worried it would be noisy but things quietened down around 10pm. The staff were all lovely and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. Only one small thing - the room was really warm. We opened the windows and a fan had been provided but I think it would’ve been unbearable had it been a warm summers day!
