Loch Ness Guest House is a new guest house situated in the heart of Fort Augustus only a few minutes walk from Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal and the amenities of Fort Augustus. Whether you choose to visit during the summer sightseeing season or in winter skiing or hillwalking you will find all the comfort you need.
Very well presented, clean, modern, well-located and characterful lodge. Little touches such as provision of porridge pots and kettles, Tunnok’s mallows and complimentary imperial mints in the room make you feel thought of and there is lots of comfortable space to relax in the lodge itself. Good showers. The sun of the parts make this a great choice in a lovely village. Free parking, a short walk to the village centre … oh and the small double was certainly not that small. Great value.

The rooms were immaculate, clean and very comfy bed and had everything that you needed, has a fridge with milk in and homemade muffins which were delicious. We would definitely return here again.

Stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon. The room was big and the shower was one of the best I’ve seen! Bed and room comfortable. No wardrobe just a few hangers on a rail. It didn’t bother us but it might bother others. Owner was good on communication. A few minutes walk from the village which has lots to see and do. The stay was let down by the breakfast. We were asked could we come at 0915 the first morning as they couldn’t have too many people in the breakfast room at one time. That suited us however when we arrived several tables hadn’t been cleaned, and there was only a small selection of food available. Another couple had been sitting there for over 20 minutes waiting to be served with coffee and for the hot selection to be replenished. They hadn’t seen one member of staff in that time. On our second morning we asked to go down earlier than the usual time as we had an early bus to catch, they accommodated this but again not much selection available and we only saw a member of staff briefly who quickly disappeared. Would consider staying here again if they improved on the breakfast scenario! What we had was ok but only cereal and toast readily available.

The Highland Club is set within 20 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds on the southern shores of Loch Ness. It occupies the Grade A gothic buildings of the original 1729 English fortification, Fort Augustus, which later on were transformed into St Benedict’s Abbey. Today, you can still experience the beauty of Fort Augustus Abbey through its converted Luxury self-catering apartments. We have a portfolio of 20 fantastic apartments that can be rented for weekend breaks, holidays and even more long term. To further enhance the comfort of your stay all of our apartments are furnished to a very high standard and we supply you with a broad variety of provisions so you can just enjoy your holiday.
We decided on a short weekend break at short notice and began the internet trawl for somewhere suitable - a cottage/house/villa/lodge to ourselves being the main requirement. After quite a bit of searching on the usual sites with almost no success we found "The Highland Club" and after checking on their website booked "The Nave", Abbey Church, No9 direct with a nice little discount. We had the option of 4 apartments for 2 people and a fenced garden for privacy/peace in The Nave won over a room with a Loch view. Met promptly on arrival by our host and given a guided tour of ground floor & facilities before ending up at our room. Wow - 2 spacious bedrooms (on en-suite) with doors to garden, and a living room/kitchen also with door onto garden. All the rooms were clean and well presented, with toiletries, linen and everything you need - a full range of kitchen items including Nutribullet, scales, salad spinner (stuff i didn't know I even needed on holiday) as well as a starter stock of water, milk, tea, coffee, wine, fruit, snacks, rice, pasta & noodles. Garden was lovely & peaceful with sun from just after midday and also kids toys. Maybe technically a pest, but we had a family of newborn rabbits in to nibble the grass and assortment of birds including a couple of ducks visit - peaceful to watch and entertainment of you take kids along. It's well worth exploring the rest of the ex-Monastery as it's stunning to look at. Indoor facilities include a small gym, pool/sauna/steam room (download the Highland Club app or scan the QR codes to book 1-hr slots), a lounge with full size snooker and pool tables, table tennis table and an outdoor giant chess board within the cloisters. In the grounds there's also a cricket pitch, tennis nets and a kids playground. If that's not enough, you can walk down the steps to the shores of Loch Ness. The Boathouse restaurant is worth a visit - if it's warm enough you can eat outdoors but wise to book a table indoors as quite a breeze can blow in from the Loch in the evening. Although the entire complex wasn't fully booked up, it still felt very peaceful and uncrowded Fort Augustus village is only a 2-3 minute walk away. Adequate parking on site and if (like us) you have an EV, there's a PodPoint charger for guest use.

Stayed here on a cycling trip. No cooked breakfast was available because the owner had forgotten renew their food licence! Left continental breakfast with a bacon roll at the door. Heating was not turned on so cold and difficult to dry kit, although a small free standing heater was supplied the bathroom was cold especially with a tiled floor when it was 6 degrees outside.

The venue has seven rooms all with their own unique personality – from the Loch Oich which sleeps three to Nessie and Neptune which can join together to sleep six. The rooms are all beautifully designed and decorated with a great blend of modern style and traditional fabrics to make the modern traveller feel at home. Located above the new Caledonian Canal Centre the centre offers visitor facilities all year round, including information point, a gift shop selling locally produced goods and a café serving homemade, Scottish produce.
I had ordered a hot chocolate and a croissant. The croissant was a little overdone but still very tasty. The hot chocolate was great and well presented. The service was brilliant, staff were very friendly. It was located very near the canals and loch which made for beautiful scenery. Whilst we were in the cafe there was another party around 8 people, they where very loud (shouting and banging the table). We rushed our drinks in order to leave as the noise was a little too much. I would very much like to attend again, hopefully in the summer.

Looks lovely, great outdoor space for kids, great location staff are friendly and helpful just few key areas that would Def stop us from returning. Check-in is at 4pm no problem there we arrived at 520pm ish and there was a technical difficulty (plumbing issue) re didn't wait too much longer another 10 mins however I immediately was concerned with a potential drama and sure enough the pod next to us had theirs and within 24 hrs so did we. These are new pods this was a bit of an inconvenience to say the least. The other real negative was when being shown the pod the lady did say they got quite hot and showed me the air con which I thought was strange being directly on the ground by the double bed. It's totally useless and we were lucky to have 25° temp during our trip and boy did we feel it in the pod at night, Yes the air con does eventually cool the pod down at like 1am in the morning but at 5/6 pm in the evening when you have got in from your day your busy showering trying to get ready to go freshen up for evening out. Well there is NO aircon....SIMPLE. My son was on the top bunk he immediately had to switch to the bottom but honestly all three of us were soooooo hot!!!!! I doubt Im the first to mention this and I'm sure I won't be the last...The bunk the kids aged up to 10 can only sleep on well my son is 9 he really is not fussy but after 2 nights (we stayed for 4) he was miserable to sleep on it!!!! I can't speak highly enough about the staff and their help in general and of course the location.

Such a lovely find! Very compact but functional accommodation. Immaculately clean so much so that it felt like no one had used it. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The heating in the pod was really efficient - within a couple of minutes it was toasty warm. Perfect for a couple of nights stop over and only a couple of minutes walk into the small town where there are a couple of pubs, fish and chip shops, a convenience store and some souvenir shops. I read a review which said the shower suddenly goes cold.....ours did too but I was ready for it ha ha! The only minor disappointment was that the on site restaurant wasn’t open as advertised. We booked our stay after lockdown restrictions were eased so we would have hoped they’d let us know the restaurant wasn’t reopening but they didn’t. Luckily the local fish and chips were delicious. I would definitely recommend staying here.
