Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort is located on Sunrise Beach, part of Exmouth's marina development. The resort features a choice of one, two and three bedroom apartments and bungalows, a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, gymnasium and conference facilities. Ningaloo Reef is Australia's largest fringing coral reef and is a protected marine park. It is also one of the few reefs that can be accessed straight from the beach.
All up there was several things that just came together to make our stay average. For the money we paid I would have expected better. Our room had single beds pushed together - the split between the beds was uncomfortable to sleep with as we found ourselves wedged between the two beds often during the night. Further on bedding, at the price of the room I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect a doona cover as opposed to a doona between two sheets. There were no power-points near the bed which although not a major issue was still inconvenient. The room itself was plain, and had we had wanted to watch some tv, we would have had to sit on the bed – there was a couch in the room however not in front of the tv. The room next to ours seemed like it was being used to house staff as they were constantly coming in and out of the room and being loud – the entryway door which we shared was always left open by the occupants consequentially and was letting in heat and lots of bugs. The laundry facilities we had were filthy. Lastly, parking isn’t allocated, and we had to park a long way from our room – whilst this isn’t ideal for my partner and I we managed, however for others not as able this would be a big issue.

The chalets were dated, but large and roomy. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed, good bedside tables and reading light, plenty of storage space and a good working air conditioner. The bathrooms were very dated, but clean and functional, but some area’s needed maintenance. Good lighting, a nice quality hair drier and good supply of towels. The kitchenette has a large fridge, stove top with rangehood, pots & pans. Toaster & kettle, microwave and a limited supply of crockery & cutlery. The lounge area had a nice two seater and nice large television and a separate air conditioner that worked really well. The outdoor area, table and two chairs and own BBQ and parking was right outside the chalet which was very convenient. The chalets were good for a short stay, however needs some maintenance. The shower head and the basin tap continually dripped, it did not matter how tight you shut the taps they water just continually dripped. The bathroom door did not shut properly and you continually had to force the door shut. There was an uneven tile in the bathroom floor that jutted out and you continually scraped your foot on it as it was right in the door way making it a trip Hazzard. The dining table had chip marks and gouges in the table top, it is quite polarising when you first look at the table and quite off putting, and surely that could be patched up some how so that it does not look so awful. My only other gripe is the scant availability of crockery and cutlery – only the bare minimum was provided, one plate, one cup, one glass per person. What is you needed another plate to serve food on? Or invite a guest over for a meal? And continually washing your one mug or one glass is actually quite annoying and the only place where I have experienced a one place setting per person in a chalet? The park itself was well located. Two beautiful pools, plenty of laundry rooms with good quality washing machines and driers, iron & ironing board. Great communal facilities that were very clean, the park was well set out for campers and caravaners and plenty of BBQ’s and loads of on site parking. Overall, it is a very nice park, just the chalets need a little TLC. The staff we encountered were very nice and accommodating.

My husband and I had a 2 bedroom unit in a single story block at the far end of the resort, back from the main road. It had the vibe of an 80's motel but appeared to have been recently partly renovated and was quite clean and adequate for our 9 night stay. It was sufficiently roomy for the 2 of us and had what looked like pretty new full size refrigerator, washing machine, drier, plus a microwave, hot plate and an extensive range of crockery, cutlery and cooking gear. Tea, coffee, condiments, a small UHT milk, dishwashing supplies and laundry powder were also provided. There was also a clean BBQ and table and chairs on our patio at the front of our unit and a small table and chairs in a small courtyard beside the main door. The windows all had timber venetians which had seen better days. The bathroom had received a partial reno. but the shower stall remained the old original one and was a bit sad. On the positive side there was plenty of hot water. There was a box style airconditioner in each room and while they were efficient they were too noisy to sleep with and we were able to hear the next door's air con running through the night as well. Other than hearing this noise there was no neighbour noise or noise from the road. TV reception was fine. The bed was fairly comfortable though the pillows could do with an update. The linen was in good condition. I did not expect to have the room serviced during our stay but on the friday after arriving on the monday we were surprised to have a full room service, linen change, fresh towels etc. The bistro is large and serves standard pub fare nothing flash but it was fine and we ate there several times. We received our meals pretty quickly. Like everywhere they had limited staff and the menu was limited, but we were quite satisfied with the service and options. The resort is centrally located to the town centre with a variety of shops, bakery, supermarkets, restaurant, bank etc. As we did not have a car this was important to us. Taking a short cut out the back of the resort, it was a 8-10 minute walk to the shops. If you follow the road around the front of the resort the walk is about 12 - 15 minutes. There is not a lot of eating options within walking distance. We wandered down to the BBqFather at a resort about 10 minutes walk away and it was very nice. There is a bottle shop on site next to reception. All staff were friendly and professional. The resort is no frills but suited us fine and the main priority was being within walking distance to town services. We were here to scuba dive and a luxury holiday was not planned or expected. I would be happy to stay here again if I didn't have a car.

There's camping, there's glamping and then there is Sal Salis! But Sal Salis offers so much more than just accommodation: a digital detox, an opportunity to reconnect with nature, guided activities focusing on the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife, chef prepared meals, an open bar and the lightest footprint all make Sal Salis one of the world’s best and true eco-luxe experiences. Sal Salis offers 15 tented rooms, each with private eco-bathroom. The social heart of the camp has views of the reef and the breakers beyond. A bar and open lounge area with a small reference library provides a great spot to sit out the heat of day. Guests may help themselves to a selection of beverages from the bar. Chef prepared meals feature local produce and dinner is shared with other guests against a back-drop of rich orange sunsets. The tariff includes accommodation, meals, beverages from the bar, use of snorkel & water sports equipment and guided activities.
Sal Salis is in a spectacular location and has great service. The employees were so helpful and went to great effort to ensure our holiday was relaxed and happy The tariff is fully inclusive of all meals but is VERY pricey at $2000 per couple per night The chefs made an effort - breakfast and lunch were excellent . But the main meal food quality was poor - cheaper cuts and the menu wasn’t really suitable for the holiday mood and climate eg Snapper with mashed potato and Broccolini More local food required The snacks were Arnotts family selection biscuits( not even cream) and Allen’s Party mix lollies The coffee machine was antiquated Alcohol was included , so there were ample Aperol Spritz, but the wines could have been much better quality for the money A great place but please upgrade The snacks , main meal and wines Thanks to the team for making our holiday as relaxing as possible and going the “extra mile “ every time PM

2 Couples stayed in a Chalet. One room had a double bed, the other had 2 bunk beds. 1st bedroom had a/c and fan, bunk room had neither. There was a/c in the lounge/kitchen area and that helped the couple in the bunk room. Beds were comfortable. Chalet was clean. It was missing a TV remote but management managed to source one for us, which we were very grateful for and actually amazed that they could get another one - it's not as if there is a large electrical store in town! Also, fridge shelf was missing, but again management quickly replaced. The kitchen was adequate - microwave and stove top. Limited utensils but we managed with what was there. No microwave dishes, apart from crockery for 6 people. All crockery/ glassware was new and matched. We found management were generally good at taking care of any extra needs that we had. A fly swat would be welcome addition. Very convenient to access either end of town - everything was walking distance. We were on the road front road and we were concerned about traffic noise, but this was not a problem. The pool area was lovely and clean. WiFi was free and fast and didn't seem to be limited

The 4 day experience with 9 other crazy creative adventurous women built so many wonderful, funny, zany, adventurous moments with eco tours, fishing, swimming, walking on isolated beaches and more that we are planning our next holiday to this perfect remote secluded idland. The meals prepared by Jim and Hannah were incredibly delicious …. gourmet style in the outback on a remote island … so delicious one could not resist going back for more. Jim, Kim, Tom and Hannah were the perfect hosts and they went out of their way to do whatever they could to make our holiday as memorable as they could.

Well to be kind it is in a great location, sunset views from the nearby lighthouse are amazing. However, this park is dreadfully run down, seems to be managed by backpackers who cannot make coffee/ cafe didn't have much to offer at all. I did not feel the caravan park and it's bungalows/ cabins were value for money. Bore water - terrible shower, no bedroom door, BBQ wasn't maintained. It was a place to sleep and that's about all it could offer. So glad we hadn't booked an extended stay. Most disappointing.
