At 2 km from the motorway (A6), 5 km from Elvas (UNESCO World Patrimony) and 14 Km from Badajoz (Spain), this hotel offers, besides a special care with the sophisticated atmosphere of a Manor, charming surroundings.
Great rural place with olive trees, vineyards, beautiful view of the countryside and the suite was outstanding. Host also has grounds you can walk and explore. We stayed for 3 days and really loved it. Male owner was super nice, had a small chat before checking out. Also the breakfast staff was outstanding, they treated us including our infant son like family

Located in the historic heart of this Alentejo city acknowledged as World Heritage by UNESCO, this hotel unit will be themed after the Portuguese fortifications. Featuring 81 rooms, a Satsanga spa with indoor pool, an event hall, outdoor garden area, meeting rooms, restaurants, bar, wine cellar, library and outdoor pool, the hotel will result from the rehabilitation of the old Saint Paul Convent.
Renovated property but service and standards need a lot of improvement. Clearly suffering from post Covid staff shortages, rooms not cleaned until late afternoon/early evening. Front desk staff helpful but waiting staff surly, service slow and inefficient. Food choice is limited and not what you’d expect of a 4 star. is breakfast coffee undrinkable. Drinking water in bedrooms only supplied for first night and not replenished daily. Had to change room as first room was dark and had only one window - bathroom tiny. No soap or body lotion for the five days and tissues not replenished.

Very good hotel inside Elvas fortress, in an old military hospital. Very friendly staff, very good service and very good breakfast. Nearby center of the old city, and nearby some excellent restaurants. Will visit again.

Have stayed in other hotels in the region and this compares very well. Handy location right in front of the historic Aqueduct so great photo opportunity straight away. You can walk up right along the aqueduct into the old town but it is a steep walk up to one of the higher parts of the town. Easier to walk a very short bit up the road to the next crossing then along the other way into the town. There is a petrol station and a spar right beside the hotel with a restaurant above. The hotel has a large cool reception area and the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and of a good standard. The facilities are good and the communal areas are nice and bright and comfortable. No restaurant, it only caters to large events but you can eat from a snack menu at the bar attached to the hotel. Although there is an access from the hotel, the bar is not part of the hotel and can close early in the evening. The bathroom is good, the shower water does go out onto the floor and the light is on a short timer so expect the light to go off and leave you in total darkness. Waving your arm about switches it back on. While in the shower you have to wave your arm outside the shower which is not convenient. Breakfast is a continental buffet with warm bacon and small hotdog type sausages. A bit different and fairly basic but enough to get you going in the day. Although very impressive view, many of the rooms don't face that view. We spent much of the time out exploring so that wasn't an issue. Would definitely go back.

The SL Hotel Santa Luzia was opened this year, and is situated in the building of the former Pousada de Elvas, which dates back to 1942." After some redecoration and restoration work, it is now a charming hotel aiming to combine the typical Alentejo architecture and the traditional Portuguese spirit of hospitality and it's ready to face the challenges that come with being located in Elvas, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2012. Featuring an elegant, yet typical, decor, the 25 hotel rooms have cable TV, minibar, telephone with exterior access, en suite bathroom and free Wi-Fi access, offering pool, garden and city views. Guests can enjoy the best of Alentejo cuisine in the restaurant where contemporary versions of classic dishes such as Bacalhau Dourado (Gold Codfish) or Borrego Assado no Forno (Roast Lamb) are served. The Bar serves cocktails and appetizers, and like the restaurant, have terraces with relaxing views to the swimming pool. The Hotel has two game rooms, tennis court and free parking (without surveillance). The Spanish city of Badajoz is 12 km far and the bus station is only 7 minutes walking distance from the Hotel.
Simply amazing. A lovely restauration of an old building that came out to be a beautiful hotel. The only problem that they were not allowed to add an elevator - but the staff is helping and bringing the luggage up and down. We had a gourmet dinner there and a lovely and informative service from Joao the owner and the rest of the staff. Highly recommended.

In the heart of Alto Alentejo and situated between Elvas (7 Km) and Badajoz (15 KM), Quinta de Santo Antonio is a veritable oasis for those who seek tranquility, beauty and superior quality of service. Quinta de Santo Antonio currently encompasses 17 hectares and lies within the Herdade da Amoreira estate. It portrays the Alentejo in an atmosphere rich in tradition which takes one back in time. The main building, in conjunction with its chapel erected in 1715, embodies the finest architecture of the traditional estates, and blends harmoniously with the XVIII gardens and the distinctive rural Alentejo landscape. Taking into consideration the architecture of the ancestral building, the interior was completely restored and currently possesses 30 rooms in which the emphasis is on tailor-made traditional decoration. Each room is equipped with a private bathroom in marble, hairdryer, towels and linen, amenities kit, extra pillows, air conditioning, television, telephone, minibar and a private safe.
Following the easing of the COVID lockdown in Portugal and after careful consideration, I decided to enjoy the June holidays away from home and Quinta de Santo António, in Elvas, was my choice. I enjoyed the experience from the very first minute: immediately after booking, I got an email from reception with all the information regarding the new COVID precautions and procedures that the Quinta put in place to guarantee the safety of its clients. I booked my time of arrival so that I was the only one in reception and all communications between me and the Quinta during my stay - which included billing and ordering breakfast - were done via whatssapp. Don't forget to read through the rules and procedures that make this Quinta eligible for the Safe & Clean seal as a safe destination for you and your family during these dire straits times. The room was very pleasant and comfortable, with a brand new TV and hundreds of channels to choose from. As this is a very hot region, very efficient AC equipment is available in every room, bearing in mind that, in common areas, AC delivery is banned in order to prevent the virus from spreading. All in all, if you feel really hot, you have two amazing options: taking a dive in the 30-metre-long-pool or retreating back to your AC-equipped room and set it up to a 22 degree-Celsius temperature. Don't be shy to take a nap. It's reinvigorating and provides you with the necessary energy to enjoy the Quinta to its fullest potential. And what about the food? The Quinta has the best culinary secret hide-out place in Alentejo, if not in the whole of Portugal. Behind of that magic touch, there is a name, Sonia - who is the resident Chef at the Quinta. Never mind breakfast - that is included and doesn't really count because it's standard. However, this standard breakfast will provide you with a wide array of items on offer - from fruit-flavored yoghurts to freshly-cut fruit, including custom-made omelets, fried, boiled or poached eggs

For the price I paid I found little to fault. The room was simply but adequately furnished, the bathroom large and well equipped. One or two bits of the decor could be better maintained but nothing too terrible. Wifi excellent. The location is 2km from the town centre. Although it's much less as the crow flies, Elvas is built on a tall and steep hill. The Residencial is at the bottom of it. It is almost 2km from the bus station. If parked at the Residencial, you can drive up the hill into Elvas itself and park there. This is a hostel, so there is no dining room. No problem as there are two restaurants next door. You will be in the countryside, almost. So expect countryside noises! Although the property is next to what looks like a busy road, traffic is light.
