Yankees restaurant - we came here for the Spicy Chicken Wing Night and it was amazing. Really good value for money with all you can eat chicken wings!!! Homemade hot sauces with chef notes detailing each one. The host and his team were fantastic. They do one every first Monday of the month - we will be back!

We always use the Empress, we have been going to TT or practise week or Manx GP for over 30 years. We like the location on the Prom and just a few minutes walk from our favourite Restaurants. Rooms are a nice size and well furnished, Breakfast is great and can't fault the Staff.

Really excellent 4-star hotel with great food and great staff who could not have been more helpful. I had a room at the back which didn't have a view (sea view rooms available if you want to upgrade) but was of a good size for one, a great comfortable bed and a nice bathroom with one of the best hotel showers I have experienced.

The thing that makes this hotel is the staff everyone we have met has been helpful and friendly, they really do go above and beyond. If it wasn’t for them you wouldn’t be so forgiving for how dated and tired the hotel is looking. It desperately needs updated which is a real shame as it has the potential to be something far better than what it currently is. Breakfast is a buffet, the kitchen will make you poached eggs, Manx kippers and porridge on request. There is plenty of choice and everything on the buffet which is cooked was hot which I sometimes find isn’t always the case on buffets. The bedrooms whilst clean could do with a lick of paint and updated. The housekeepers are fantastic they gave my son plenty of extra biscuits and took time to have a chat with him. Often forgotten and over looked for how hard they work. The swimming pool is a great size and has lovely views over Douglas bay. Just don’t go at 7am and swim where the old lady with the swim hat clearly usually does as she will shout at you and tell you to get out of her way. Clearly thinks she owns the place. I would stay at this hotel again because we regularly come up the TT and the staff are so fantastic. Update the hotel and I would stay out of TT. Currently off to stay at the sister hotel The Sefton for the rest of our stay and see how that compares.

A more fine dining experience can be had in the Harbour Lights at The Sefton. The Sefton Hotel also boasts a tranquil pool and a library where guests can relax with a drink or a book. I stayed here with my son during practice week for the TT we where greeted by the loveliest lady Margaret on reception a real credit to the hotel. Everyone we met was friendly and had a smile on their face. The bedrooms really need updated as they are very dated but where clean. We did have a lovely sea view which I would recommend booking. I get the impression that they are in the process of updating the hotel as the lobby and corridors had new carpets. The bar was very tasteful decorated too. The swimming pool area has real potential the steam rooms and saunas where locked up, I got the impression that they had broken and never got fixed and you could see at some point there had been a hot tub. Which was a real shame. We only had breakfast at the hotel there was plenty to choose from and the hot buffet was fresh. All the breakfast team where helpful. The team really make this hotel and the building from the outside is beautiful. A complete refurbished would make this hotel perfect.
