Perfect food and incredible, caring staff where "nothing is too much trouble" is what makes this truly unique and boutique English country house no. 1 in the area. With stunning views overlooking the World Heritage Roman city of Bath, in 15 acres of gardens, Croquet and a 9 hole practice golf course, you'll be spoiled indeed!
Defiantly unique. We stayed in the main house. And Took time to view the art, as never seen anything like it. Bathroom and bedroom again full of art and Robert Thompson furniture. Our room didn’t have a TV, not a problem for us, but some could be. We were lucky enough to bump into Marco, who took time to have a chat, lovely gentleman. Beer garden is set beside a lovely pond, such a peaceful location. Food during breakfast and dinner, as expected, delicious- we tried the steak, fish cake and shepherds pie during our trip and all were tasty.

The Quarryman’s Arms is a traditional country pub and inn with a history dating back over 250 years, located in beautiful Box Hill, on the outskirts of Bath. A haven for locals, walkers and cyclists alike, The Quarryman’s enjoys breathtaking countryside views over the Bybrook Valley and is perfectly positioned for exploring the city of Bath, historic Corsham, Lacock, and the Cotswolds. We have four beautiful boutique bedrooms, offering the ideal Wiltshire escape for family staycations, romantic weekends away, or business travellers. On the menu, it’s all about traditional pub food created with the finest seasonal and local produce, and the best Sunday roasts in the area. Behind the bar, you’ll find a cracking range of Butcombe ale and craft beer, plus local cider and a great wine selection. Outside our beer garden is ideal for al fresco drinking and dining, with amazing views over the valley, and a covered and heated pergola terrace for the colder months. Food and drink can be easily ordered to your table via the Butcombe App. The Quarryman’s is dog-friendly, child-friendly, and perfectly positioned for visits to Lacock Abbey, the Roman Baths in Bath, and Longleat Safari Park.
My husband and i ventured out for the first time in months for supper. The Quarrymans was the place! I t was excellent. Lovely to be out - and we felt perfectly safe. Good social distancing etc.. Staff were very good - food was yummy. Well done. Will be back very soon. Oh and the pub had a lovely buzz going on - some casual drinkers outside and others enjoying a meal as we were.

I arrived at the specified time but no host, no message and no keys. I tried the number given several times, as did the neighbour and a guest staying in a different room. None of us got through and the neighbour confirmed the host was out. It got to 9pm and still no luck. A pub in town helped me try several places but all booked. I had to stay in Chippenham and by this time it was 10pm. I then paid for accommodation elsewhere the rest of the week. The next morning the owner tried to say she was there and didn't have to tell me why she was not contactable. She was extremely rude and aggressive and said I had to pay for the whole week even though she was not there, I didn't stay and had to pay elsewhere. I would advise anyone not to stay here as this person really should not be in the hospitality industry.

Guyers House Hotel & Restaurant is a charming, privately owned Four Star country house hotel surrounded by its own outstanding gardens. It is located a mile from the pretty town of Corsham and 8 miles from Bath. The aim of the hotel is to provide friendly service, comfort and wonderful cooking. We are proud that the restaurant has been awarded 2 Rosettes by the AA and a special Breakfast Award by Visit England. The hotel has 37 en suite bedrooms, elegant dining and sitting rooms, a panelled Bar and all that you would expect of an English country house The gardens extend to over 6 acres and include a croquet lawn a hard tennis court and a small fitness pavilion. There is ample free parking. The hotel has its own dedicated conference and seminar building and its memorable architecture and lovely garden has made it a famous wedding venue. We do our very best to make your stay a happy one. Via enews
This hotel was exactly what we were looking for in a quick weekend away. The rooms are not modern or lavish, and that is part of the charm of the place. You just feel like you're in a hotel that has a history and character rather than a 'one size fits all' corporate hotel. The staff are really lovely and were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was just right - enough to have a good breakfast without seeming overly lavish and wasteful. The cooked breakfast was fresh and made to order and was not greasy. We would return and would recommend is you're looking for a quiet hotel in a nice area with a bit of character.

Located in the heart of picturesque Corsham, Wiltshire, The Methuen Arms is a stunning Georgian coaching inn, offering 19 stylish boutique bedrooms, award-winning food and Butcombe beer on tap. Boasting bags of character, this cosy country pub with rooms is set immediately beside the stately home and beautiful grounds of Corsham Court, and just 10 miles from the enchanting city of Bath. The Methuen is the perfect base for exploring Wiltshire and the world-class walking, cycling and dog-walking opportunities in and around the Cotswolds – other local attractions include Lacock Abbey and Castle Combe. Food and drink are at the forefront of everything we do. We’re passionate about local, seasonal and sustainable produce, and source many ingredients from our very own kitchen garden. Outside, our beer garden (including a new covered and heated pergola terrace) is perfect for al fresco drinking and dining. If you’re looking for a venue for your wedding, party, meeting, or office gathering, we have a range of versatile spaces available for private hire.
We have recently discovered the Methuen Arms and have enjoyed going there for drinks in the garden. I live locally and this is a convenient and pleasant place to catch up with family. Unfortunately we have fallen into the trap for the unwary and received a hefty parking penalty notice and fear that there could be more heading our way. Although we could have parked for free in the Council car park next door we left the car in the hotel car park and it seems although we informed bar staff we had done so, it was not formally recorded. The car park was empty so it makes this even more unnecessary and gratuitous. The fixed penalty of £100 is being challenged but it leaves a nasty taste and we shall not be going back. I would advise anyone having a drink or a meal to think twice about using the car park

Under new ownership since November 2016, Lorne House offers guests smart and sophisticated accommodation with ensuite modern wetrooms or bathrooms. Furnished to a very high standard, Lorne House is a stylish home from home, offering our guests an elegant charm and very friendly welcome. Breakfasts are hearty and traditionally English. Close to Bath, Lacock, Castle Combe, Corsham, Bradford on Avon and Avebury Lorne House is perfectly situated for guests wishing to explore the beauty and history of this lovely corner of Wiltshire. Lorne House was the childhood home of the Rev. W J Awdry, author of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Lorne House is a beautifully furnished and immaculately clean property, with extremely friendly hosts. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel most welcome. Bob responded to all my emails immediately. I booked the entire house, for a group of 13 of us to stay together. We had full use of the well equipped kitchen (including a large fridge) and enjoyed sitting out on the sunny terrace, overlooking beautiful countryside. One of our group had an electric car and benefited from being able to access a charging point on site. All the rooms are ensuite and very comfortable. Bob provided us with a useful list of local pubs/restaurants and activities to do in the area, so that we could plan our weekend before arrival. The house is located on a main road, which gives access to Bath (about 6 miles away) and there is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away. Box is a pretty village to walk around, with amenities including: a Post Office, chemist, restaurants and cafes. I thoroughly recommend Lorne House to anyone who is wanting somewhere for a large group to stay and was extremely happy with our choice. Many thanks to Bob and Liz and the rest of the team for a fantastic weekend.

A truly lucky find. Wonderful place. We had the ground floor room with an ensuite bathroom. The accommodation was spotless, tastefully decorated and the attention to detail was faultless. Generous assortment of drinks, lovely biscuits and a bag of delicious fudge on arrival. The bed was huge and very comfy. The gardens are stunning and the views and the peacefulness made for a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Kate was the perfect host making sure that every aspect of our stay was faultless. The freshly cooked breakfast was delicious. All the places that we wanted to visit were about half an hour to three quarters of an hour away so it was the perfect spot for us. Would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you so much.

The former Box Station Hotel owes its architecture to Brunel. Head Chef Chris Alderson has created a classic menu using seasonal produce. Fresh fish is delivered to from Cornwall, along with locally sourced beef. Those staying the night will be royally spoilt as slick bedrooms sport pieces of one-off furniture and sculpture - and beds super comfortable with dazzling white linen and thick mattresses. One room has a decked balcony, all have coffee-machines, and slate stone bathrooms
Room was clean and bright, everything you would want. The shower did not work, only boiling hot water, too hot to use. Really disappointed on an otherwise lovely place. I have stay here before and on that occasion the radiator tap was broken which made the room very hot.

The curtains were dirty at the bottom, and smelled very strongly of cat pee. Went out to buy room freshener etc to mask smell. When we arrived, the bread that had been left for us, had been nibbled...we were told it was cats, but the way the bag had been chewed, and the crumbs etc, it was most likely much smaller furry creatures! The owner did check cupboards for 'droppings' and got some bleach to wipe surface down ? The jams that were there had crumbs in, so obviously left from previous guests. No privacy when other guests were constantly walking past, you have to keep blinds closed. Maybe we were just unlucky to have had inconsiderate neighbours. Lovely setting, but let down by cleanliness.
