Wild horses can actually drag you away…to Chincoteague Island. Here, ponies run wild, you can catch or dig up your own seafood, and the beaches bring literal breaths of fresh air. The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is a wonderfully unspoiled spot for bird watching, horseback riding, swimming and biking. Every summer since 1925, all of the feral ponies on Assateague are rounded up for the world-famous annual Pony Swim over to Chincoteague.

So overall I rated this place as very good, but bear with me as this will be a bit lengthy.. Overall the Hotel is extremely clean both on the grounds and in our room, the staff was always friendly and professional. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms are spacious. The breakfast spread is pretty normal and they keep it fresh; the excerise area is nice. The pools and hot tubs were also nicely maintined. There is a great patio in the back where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of the water and watch the sunset. now for the bad... The walls are paper thin we could clearly hear the TV as well as all the conversations in the room next door. The other bad thing was trying to enjoy the pool that is for guests only and 2 days in a row they had rented the pool out for large birthday parties. It made using the pool less than desirable and even more so when the children didn't adhere to any rules.

Checked in to discover our balcony looks out directly on a bunch of rusty shacks, trucks, and random trailers/equipment. For $300/night, these were not the peaceful water views we were hoping for. When we requested another room that didn’t face a junkyard, we were told they could only accommodate us if we changed rooms every night of our stay. While I can certainly understand that they can’t move people if the hotel is booked, a room this disappointing should only be offered at a steep discount. Definitely won’t be staying here again.

During our week-long stay at the Waterside Inn the friendly, professional staff made us feel so welcome and at home. Breakfast was cheerfully served, including lots of choices. Our room was spotlessly clean. Views from our balcony were beautiful over the water. Seabirds flew by, calling to their mates. The owner grows the most amazing collection of roses that adorned the property. Altogether, a calm, lovely, relaxing place to stay.

In a time period pandemic and post pandemic when the hotel business is understaffed and mediocre at best . The stay here was excellent in everything from service to quality of bedding and breakfast as part of your stay. The hotel is in walking distance to downtown attractions

We stayed here for two nights using Marriott rewards points. We were greeted cheerfully at the reception desk and provided some useful travel tips. The hotel was clean and modern with a spacious breakfast area, including a few outdoor tables. Breakfast was fairly typically of mid-range chain hotels, but included a few hot items that changed each day as well as cereals, bread, muffis, fruit, etc. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Our balcony had a very pleasant view of the bay. The pool was not yet open for season during our stay, but looked quite appealing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this Marriott property and would happily return.

Had a room with 2 double beds on the second floor. Room was large and well appointed with a nice sized table, mini-fridge/freezer and microwave. Bathroom was functional and clean. Beds were comfortable and clean. Pretty much what you'd expect for this type of property. My only concerns were a couple of minor cleaning issues in the room - there looked to be a few drops of oatmeal spilled on one of the walls and the fridge door had fingerprint smudges on it. Based on the cleanliness of the rest of the room, the exterior and common areas, my feeling is that these issues were an oversight. Property staff were friendly and helpful. The exterior of this property is fairly spartan - exterior wooden stairs, small crushed stone parking lot. I would stay here again, although it is on the opposite end of town from the wildlife refuge and beach.

Chincoteague Island's Most Personable Bed and Breakfast & Tea Room
My daughters gave a me a surprise birthday party at a fabulous Irish Tea in the beautifully appointed dining room at Channel Bass Inn, Chincoteague, Virginia. The three-course tea included savories, a variety of scones and delicious sweets. Everything was fresh made on sight. WHAT A BIRTHDAY!!!

All rooms are waterfront with balcony. Free continental breakfast, hot tub, fitness center, in room coffee maker, free wi-fi, located within walking distance of restaurants and shopping, and minutes from Assateague National Seashore and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and NASA/Wallops Island.
This was our first time visiting Chincoteague. We stayed here based on neighbors' recommendations, and very very happy we did. We got a room on the 3rd floor with gorgeous views, especially of the sunset. The grounds are well maintained, tge pool is nice (but could use more trees for shade), and the hot tub and fitness rooms are good. The breakfast is somewhat minimal, but good nonetheless. Hot options are really only grits, biscuits, waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage. But we really enjoyed our stay and would probably go back. Resort is in walking distance of a pharmacy and several popular restaurants. There are also picnic tables and a grill on the hotel patio, directly overlooking the water. We grilled fish and corn one night, with lovely views while doing so.

Roaches (see pics) After finding roaches and other insects in my room while staying on this property I was promised a refund by the manager. The manager now refuses to process the refund. The first night I was there I was awakened by 1 inch cockroach crawling on my body. I spoke to the manager immediately after I found the cockroach on my body. At first he insisted there were no roaches on the island or on the property. After asking what I wanted him to do, the Manager agreed to refund the amount I paid for one night. I asked him at that time if he would honor this refund if I stayed the rest of the night (my toddlers were sleeping and it was the middle of the night!) and he assured me he would. Later that night as I could not sleep I took pictures of more roaches and other insects all over the bathroom floor, around the microwave, the sink and on the beds. The next morning I reported all this to the manager who insisted roaches do not go on beds and in fact reported that he walked by my room at 1 AM and said I had been fine and sleeping. I feel deeply violated hearing this. I repeatedly asked for written documentation of my refund in the following 24 hours and was not given any. When I tried to check out and discuss my refund, the manger was suddenly and conveniently "out of town." However the managers wife did assure me my refund would be given to me, and even stated sometimes with changes in weather roaches can come out. She still did not provide me proof of the refund I would be getting. When Priceline called to confirm the refund the manger still was "out of town" & upon returning he denied all suggestions that a refund was offered and essentially implied I had lied. Additionally, my children found a previous occupants apparently soiled underwear socks and other clothing crumpled up in dresser drawer a few minutes after checking in. This is not the sort of treatment I associate with a reputable hotel chain. My family has been placed in unsanitary conditions, my honesty and integrity has been called into question, and my trust and privacy have been violated.
