ENJOY... 10,000 m2 designed to help you unwind and relax. Just over 1 km from Caldas, one of the most traditional spa towns, our staff has everything ready to spoil you. Let yourself be carried away by the intimate atmosphere enveloping you, and give yourself the time you deserve and which your everyday life makes impossible. DREAM... Torre do Río is a restored textile complex dating from the 18th century, bathed by a meander of the Umia River, surrounded by nature in the purest Galician style. Everything seems conceived for experiencing the tranquillity and harmony of an almost magical setting. AND EXPLORE... The privileged Salnés area in which this three-hundred-year-old tower rises up stands out due to its thermal and gastronomic activities. Both Caldes (less than 1 km away) and Cuntis (less than 10 km away) feature natural-water Spas. Another must-see are the area's Roman bridges and the spectacular waterfall on the Umia River, a short distance from our facilities. Torre do Río is also close to other cities and towns of the Ria of Arousa, such as Vilagarcía, Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, Pontevedra, Isla de Arosa, Cambados, Sanxenxo and O Grove.
2km from the town, Torre do Rio is a revelation, a large stone mansion with extensive grounds and a stunning location over a forested river gorge. Within, more delights await in the luxuriously and tastefully furnished interior with a wooden staircase leading to the rooms. Dining and lounge area downstairs, curtains, sofas, wood accents, fine table setting all oozing elegance My room had incredible views of the forest and river. It was luxuriously furnished with thoughtful touches such as bottled water, chocolates, bedroom slippers and robes. One of the nicest hotel rooms I've been in, and feeling like the guest room of a very luxurious house. Meal service especially breakfast lived up to the experience with a generous spread, thoughtful uniformed staff and excellent table service. Only dinner was underwhelming given the stratospheric level of everything else. The swimming pool routes the river water so that it's like bathing in three river within the confines of the hotel. Stunning. This is one hotel I was very sorry to leave.

The hotel is ideally placed in caldas de reis. Beautiful big rooms and a shower that was heaven after a day's walking. However no information given at check in apart from the fact they have a thermal pool out the back and time of breakfast. No mention of WiFi or the fact they have a spa with jacuzzi and stuff in hotel . Also the fact they offer massages and such was not mentioned. I only found this out when I went online to see if hotel opened for dinner I asked at reception about using it the next day before check out and was told it does not open until midday so was no use to me . A couple I met at breakfast were not advised of the services on offer either so it's almost as if its OK to use pool but nothing else A sign in the lift advising where entrance to pool is would save having to wander thru reception in dressing gown trying to find way. A beautiful hotel with fantastic amenities if guests were told about them at check in or perhaps put a booklet in room

Welcome The Pousada Real Hotel, is located at the end of the fourth stage of the Portuguese Camino. You do not have to deviate, not one centimeter off your path to stay in this Hotel since it is at the foot of the Camino. The Pousada Real Hotel is a building from the 1900s recently rehabilitated and located in the Calle Real, a pedestrian street in the center of the municipality of Caldas de Reis with many years of history. History The current Calle Real was part of an ancient Roman road from the XIX that linked Braga with Astorga. In which, at that time, the Romans had already built an inn, which was the official stop of the road, called the “mansio de Aqvis Celenis”. Centuries later it became known for the Jacobean route that we know today the Portuguese Camino. In which, so illustrious pilgrims have passed as St. Thomas of Canterbury to which the town paid homage with the construction of one of its Romanesque churches , the Church of Santo Tomas.
|Lovely hotel on a pedestrian street. Very modern inside. Lovely staff. Breakfast very good. You order the day before but you can have as much as you want. Great little restaurant with a peregrino menu just round the corner. A 2 minute walk.

I thought this place was just wonderful, it is really old fashioned (in a good way) spotlessly clean, and has a lot of character. I've never stayed anywhere like it. I booked the hot thermal bath which was a great treat after 250 km walking the camino. The staff were helpful and friendly particularly the lady at the breakfast service. Caldas is a nice pretty town with good options for food and drink.

Stayed here on the third night of our Camino Walk. Good location and decent rooms, nothing fancy but adequate and reasonably priced. Caldas de reis is a small city and the hotel location allows walking access to nearby restaurants and river side. We had lunch at the hotel restaurant, the outdoor location and food made this a great experience.

We stayed here while walking the Camino. It's a beautiful villa out in the country with a swimming pool and lovely grounds. The proprietor cooked us a delicious dinner with fresh vegetables from the garden. Everything was fabulous. The only downside is that it's about 7 km off the Camino so they pick you up in town and bring you back, so you don't have as much flexibility.

We were on the Camimo and as we liked trying different places we said we would try out Motel Caldas. We were a bit taken back by the way you registered going into the motel . It felt as we were entering a prison facility as opposed to a motel. The man on reception was nice and explained to us the unusual way in which food would be delivered to our rooms but that there was 'no eating area' as such (I presume because of C19). The rooms were clean and spacious to be fair although a bit dated. The evening before we left, we ordered two ice creams to our room. As per the regulations we were to pay on checking out. However on checking out the woman on reception was extremely rude and slammed the reception window in our face. We were taken aback and simply left the money for the ice creams in the slot under reception and left. I accept there could have been a language barrier but there is always a way to speak to people no matter what language you speak ! I don't really write bad reviews but I hope this review is taken as a warning. Worst stay on the camino! Friends had warned us to avoid spanish motels years ago but a last minute decision in the height of summer meant we were left with little choice. The strange registration via intercom and a hole in the wall gave truth to the 'other' use of motels. The rooms were basic but clean (other than a few nasty looking carpet stains and the shower was excellent but the aircon had broken..on the hottest day of the year and only a sigle fan could be rustled up between two rooms which meant the room stayed at a balmy 28deg all night. The comings and goings of other 'guests' during the niight didn't help with a good nights sleep either. The rooms were booked as large douubles but were actually the smallest allowable double sized room in spain. Breakfast was reasonable and included but again served anonymously via a quick knock on the door and a tray outside. This felt beyond bizarre. The outside door would also feel a bit exposed for single female travellers given the normal business of the place. Oh and in case you haven't guessed it yet..there were two free conndoms in the bathroom!!

We stayed here while we walked the Camino, Sito picked us up at the water fountain & dropped us off at the same place the following morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Loureiro! This home has been in their family since the 1800’s. If you want to immerse yourself in the culture this is the way to do it! We were treated as treasured guests and got to enjoy this delightful family & home. It was one of our favorite nights of the trip!! Maria is an amazing host and cook, guaranteed the food will not disappoint! Enjoy your stay, we sure did!!

We spent a night on our Camino to Santiago. The hotel gets old and is situated outside the city. The rooms are large and well equipped. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a nice vegetarian dinner and also a good breakfast. All in all it was a good choice!

As part of our SantiagoWays (reviewed separately here on TA) Camino package, our group of ten peregrinos had dinner at this restaurant at 9:30 on a Friday night in late May. We were staying at Hotel Pousada Real, and made the short walk to the restaurant. The wait staff here have limited English, but try hard and are very friendly. Our meals, based on the standard pilgrim’s menu, consisted of appetizers, mains, desserts and wine (both white and red). Appetizers included large mixed salads, and croquettes, while mains included fried fish, breaded pork cutlet, chicken fillets, and roasted pork. Desserts included ice cream cake and St. Marino cake. The salads were very good with fresh components, and the croquettes were quite good. But the breaded pork cutlet was just average, as were the chicken and the roast pork. The fresh fish was good. The desserts were both good, particularly the St. Marino cake. We assigned this a 3, but it really should be a 3.5.
