Another modern hotel visited on our group tour of Portugal. Rooms were stylishly furnished and were comfortable. Breakfast was good and the service too. It's in a good area for walking around with shops next door.

Manor house from the XIX century totally remodeled to be a boutique hotel, has a contemporary design and all the rooms were decorated by 1 of the 6 ceramic artists that were invited to curate the decor. The English breakfast is one of the biggest attractions with a selection of fresh fruit from the daily local market next to the hotel. You can book ceramic workshops with the artists.
A very unique hotel with lovely decorations and nice yard. Excellent location near the main square and close to restaurants and caffees. Nice team and good breakfast in a lovely dinning room The room was charming as well.

This hotel was much better than expected. Though the rooms are old they are clean and have all amenities you require. We even had a fridge which was well used by us ?. The staff are excellent and couldn’t do enough for us. Rooms were cleaned every day. There was no balcony and we missed this. Breakfast was nice but the same everyday. Evening meal was mostly fine (buffet style) and good value at 12e. Lovely pool. Free parking. While there was air conditioning it was not available to use because of Covid. We got a fan free from reception for the week which was a lifesaver. Great location for using as a base to see the sights. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we hope to return again some day.

Situated in the city centre of Caldas da Rainha, this 3-star hotel offers spacious air-conditioned rooms with private bathroom. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. A Buffet breakfast is served each morning in the dining room. Guests can also experience traditional Portuguese cuisine at the modernly built Restaurant Meia Tigela. There is also a bar that offers drinks. All rooms are simply furnished with wooden furniture and equipped with cable TV. The hotel has a 24-hour front-desk available to offer useful information on local attractions and activities. On-site car parking is available. The medieval village of Obidos is a 15-minute drive away. It is just a 45-minute drive from Lisbon International Airport. Other locations worth visiting in the surroundings include Peniche, Praia D'El Rey, Foz do Arelho, Nazare and Alcobaca.
The hotel is just behind the church. I experienced a rather so-so "welcome" (the word was never uttered). The key was given to me, as was the a/c control. No explanation of ANYTHING (they key is indeed unusual). When I needed help with the Wifi, (my second trip downstairs), I was told that the (moth-eaten) bit of paper stuck on the key was IT!! I tried and tried. No use! Back down (third time). I was then told that a vital part of the code was not on that worn little scrap of paper. Lousy service! The room was unequivocally samey. Boring and in need of repaint and repair (especially the less that "nice" bathroom.) A "tired" room in a weary establishment. Breakfast next morning: frankly, dull. the grey kind of mainly flavourless breakfast you get anywhere in a lot cheaper hotels, this time with an officious redundant little fellow pointing out the cold milk, etc.. already massively labelled. Result: NO, thank you. NOT again. It was cheap (€31 for one person, room 304, with magnificent views of other people's back walls - usually €42) but not cheerful. The only redeeming feature as I left was a receptionist I had not encountered when I arrived. A bubbly, short-haired woman who knew her way around, and did her best! (My thanks to her!!)

We booked their 4 bed flat, two single beds and two camp beds. It is not in the hotel, just a few doors down over the ice cream store, because of this you don’t get breakfast. It is in an excellent location for the park (opposite the gate), the market, shops, restaurants, supermarket, cinema and bus station (a 5 minute walk – 10 minutes with 4 cases). A good car hire firm is a 25 minute walk north or 5 minutes in a taxi to the north. Access to the motorway is a short drive. You need to bear in mind what you get for your money, it’s a really inexpensive option giving you a living room, bedroom, shower room (there is a bath but it is tiny), kitchen with gas cooker, large fridge freezer, microwave and small table and chairs. The living room has a couch, table with 4 chairs, coffee table and a TV that receives several Portuguese channels. WiFi is weak but available, there is a login and password. There’s one wardrobe for clothes storage and several small drawers around the flat, there’s not many hangers (4) so we were living out of the suitcase most of the time. However, for the price, overall it’s really quite nice. There is a store that sells absolutely everything at the top of the lane so we could have bought extra hangers there but, as seasoned travellers, we just couldn’t be bothered. There is a washing machine but make sure you get a full tutorial on it because it is small and cranky. We failed to understand how to seal it properly and they had to call in the plumber (two days later, pretty good for getting hold of a plumber), then accused us of loading it with 10 kilos of clothes, amusing when you think how much 10 kg of clothes is. In fact there was a fraction over 4 kg of clothes and an awful lot of water, I must admit that the angry phone call telling us that we’d need to pay for it if we’d broken it was a bit unpleasant but fortunately, once we understood how to seal it, it worked perfectly. Drying is on lines strung outside the kitchen window, pegs in the kitchen drawer. There are no indoor drying facilities for rainy days, we used the chairs in the kitchen. Remember this place is roomy and inexpensive, it is a nice flat, but at that price you expect issues. You need to be prepared to buy equipment for the kitchen if you plan to cook. We bought washing up liquid, a tea pot, carving knife (there were only plate knives), cereal bowls, salt and pepper. There are 5 wine glasses and 6 cups but only 2 mugs, so if there are more of you and you prefer mugs you’ll need to buy more. We also bought matches because the lighter on the cooker doesn’t work. There is no kettle so water has to be boiled in a pan. Excellent coffee is available in the park at Smash Café or in the market square but no coffee making facilities in the flat. We’ve left the knife and matches for you, the rest we’ll take home. Cleaning occurs every two days, the beds are changed and made up and the floor is wiped, TP is replenished, soap is left, unless you are staying an odd number of days and then there is no servicing on your last day. Parking: the hotel has two parking places reserved at the front of the hotel, effectively these are always occupied, there is parking on the roads around – especially at the far side of the park, but it will mean a bit of a walk, fortunately we like walking. If you are fortunate enough to get one of these places you’ll need to get a token from the hotel desk to display. One entertaining aspect is the chorus of electric shutters that goes off at 8 a.m. in the shops and rooms around, we didn’t need our alarm clock at all. In summary we had a nice time here, there were a few moments during the bad temper of the washing machine debacle when I was glad we have a solicitor in Lisbon – it looked like we were going to need her for a while, but this is a nice flat, in a nice place and it is no great problem equipping it with the necessities for cooking and eating.

Good location near center of town but old, smelly and absolutely filthy, we found mold in the mini fridge and in the bathtub, the building was decrepit and stank, blankets and sheets were dump by humidity

At Flamboyant bed & breakfast, your stay will be just that little bit different. Romantic and authentic in a renovated windmill, or stylish and contemporary in one of the 3 spacious suites - with all the privacy you could wish for, with that essential vacation feeling of calm and 'coming home'. Flamboyant b&b oozes the class of a boutique hotel, still retaining that family character, mirroring the warmth with which your hosts ensure your stay is a true holiday. Its location is just perfect to enjoy some peace and quiet, or as a home-from-home to venture out and discover the rugged Silver Coast, with the famous beaches of Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto, and the Centro do Portugal region, dotted with medieval remains and quaint villages for those leisurely walks and late lunches in the sun. Flamboyant is a b&b like no other, and even better, always offering attractive rates with a healthy and nutritious breakfast buffet included. So look no further, book your stay here.
Flamboyant is a fantastic B&B. From the first moment, you know that your days here will be great. We received an itinerary that made it impossible to get lost. On arrival, Patrick and Hayat received us not only with information about the region, but also with a nice drink. The information can also be found in useful little books in your room. The room is decorated in a very good style; the colours are tuned to the last detail. We liked it that the room has two parts that can be separated: a sleeping room and a sitting area. The bathroom is spacious with a very good rain shower. Breakfast is delicious with every day a lovely surprise. Depending on the weather you can eat inside or outside under the lemon tree. We loved to swim in the swimming pool with salt water, so no chlorine. The location of the B&B is almost perfect, near the beaches of the Silver coast and nice cities as Óbidos and Alcobaça. Most of all we appreciated the contact with Hayat and Patrick and the way they take care of their guests. We hope to come back.

Welcome to Quinta Japonesa. A rustic country house between Lisbon and Coimbra and just 20 minutes from the beach, Obidos and a national park for hiking. It is situated in a valley surrounded by a beautiful japanese style garden. It is the perfect location for relaxation, recreation and culture. This region has 6 UNESCO World Heritage sites to visit, 7 fantastic golfcourses of which the beautiful Praia d'el Rey is one of them. We have two apartments 4p/5p, three luxury glamping tents 4p/6p/8p and a holiday home 8p, for your perfect holiday. It's well situated to start discovering Portugal's nature, history, culture, wines and yummy gastronomy.
Very peaceful and secluded. Quinta Japonesa is perfect to disconnect from all the buzz from the city. The weather was great! And even if it's not very hot, you can take a bath in the heated pool without getting cold! Moreover, the hostess is very nice and always available to help you.

The "Casal da Eira Branca" is a new lodgement situated at the rural village Infantes, near Caldas da Rainha. It is located within the West Littoral, a region of great historic, architectonic, cultural and touristic interest, where the golf courses are one of its main attractions.
If I could mark it between the two gradings that’s what I would give it. The hospitality and friendliness of the staff is second to none. It is an old farm and they clearly work on being eco friendly and what they call agrotourism! The room was clean, air conditioned and surprisingly a mini bar! Breakfast was lovely as well. We weren’t able to take advantage of the swimming pool as we arrived late and had to leave early. The family next door to my room had a small dog and I can’t remember at the time of booking if I recall pets being allowed to stay as I may have reconsidered booking. What was worth noting though was that the same family took the small dog into the pool with them!! I’m sure the owners were not aware of this and even though I enjoy pets, this disgusted me as there were other families their with small children who I guess would naturally want to use the pool as well! Lastly, the owners had dogs who barked at night as well as the early hours in the morning. I’m not sure if it’s the place to stay if you are really looking for peace and quiet. Having said that I don’t want to take away from the atmosphere and scenery of what is a lovely place.
