The staff, room and food were all very good. I was however disappointed when they closed off the pool and swimming area, the day after a large group were enjoying both. I would recommend staying at this hotel, but call first to check on deck and pool if that is important to you. It looked very inviting, I just wish we could have used it.

The hotel NH Palacio de Oquendo is a charming hotel in Caceres, Spain, ideally located at the entrance to the ancient fortifications that still surround the historical city center. The central plaza, shopping, and business of Caceres are very close to the hotel and easy to access.
There isn’t a window but there is a skylight without a shade/blind option, making the room very hot during the day and difficult to cool down at night. If I wanted to sleep in after the sunrise, I had to wear my eye mask. Even at night, the sky brightened the room. However, the location of the hotel is fantastic. The breakfast was excellent and the service great. The skylight issue should be an easy fix for the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

This Parador will be closed due to renovation work from September 1, 2009 to Spring, 2011. The closest Paradors to stay at are those in Mérida, Trujillo, Guadalupe, or Plasencia.
During a recent trip to Extramadura Spain, we stayed in 3 Paradores : Guadaloupe, Merida and Caceres. Although the one in Guadaloupe had the most charming decor and Gardens, the one in Caceres had the most over all charm including thé excellent restaurant.

The one way streets around the hotel are best navigated with a satnav. There are signs for the hotel on the main road but they are not visible again until you're close to the hotel. Underground parking at the hotel. Be aware you drive in on the left! Parking is free. Our 2nd floor room had twin beds as a double, aircon, kettle, (minibar sized)fridge and safe. Our shower would overflow the tray if run full pressure, flooding the bathroom, half pressure was OK though. Bathroom also had a bidet. The hotel has a very small pool but its part of the spa with an additional cost of €35 for a couple or €20 per person. The hotel is 5 minutes walk to Plaza Mayor. Breakfast was usual continental with a few heated options, no complaints. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening. It was an awkward experience, the staff appeared tense and organisation seemed poor despite the number of customers being low. The food wasn't great either. I would stay here again as the rooms are spacious, well equipped, onsite parking and located next to Plaza Mayor and the old walled Town.

This is a great choice. The hotel is made up of historic complex of buildings with new additions. Everything is first class. Plenty of free parking whether you choose outside or indoor parking. We had a junior suite which was great, very large and nicely furnished. All members of the staff were a delight. None of the Covid this and Covid that bs responses for service issues/failures. Breakfast great and also evening dining. Really an amazing complex just on the edge of town.

The Extremadura Hotel by Sercotel is a 4 star hotel located 15 minutes walk from the center of Cáceres. It has 151 rooms with free WiFi, safe, TV, swimming pool, among many other services. The hotel has 10 meeting rooms so you can hold events with total comfort. Come and meet Cáceres with us!
We were in a junior suite, giving us a sofa and desk in a separate room. It was clean and spacious and the bed enormous - but the bed was so hard. I found the hotel soulless - no restaurant service in the evening, and the cafe/bar was like a waiting room. Because the pool was not yet open (we went in May) there was nowhere green to sit outside in the shade, only on the small terrace overlooking the main road.

In a good position in the centre of town, and only 5 minutes walk to the old town and Plaza Mayor. The hotel needs to be renovated and kicked into the 21st century as it looks tired and dated, although it was clean and the room was warm with comfy beds. The shower head was falling off the wall and the tiling looked like it was last grouted in the 1970's. We arrived on a Sunday to find no food and the bar shut. Reception could not even get us a beer. There is no free parking here, it is pay and display in the street outside, but there is a public underground carpark on the other side of the road, but make sure you ask at reception for the 40% discount voucher for this car park as you won't get one if you don't ask.The continental breakfast was good with a nice selection of pastries, cheese and meats and fruit.
