Due to scheduling conflicts, we checked in very late, between 10 and 11 p.m., and were greeted by the nicest front desk person, a lovely young lady whose name I unfortunately can't recall now. (I'm still trying.) She had all kinds of great advice for things to do the next day, and we followed it to a "T." She was exactly right, and her advice added to our trip immensely. Of note, she recommended Castlewellan Park and Tollymore Forest Park, both of which turned out to be real gems on our mostly unplanned itinerary. She also assigned us a spectacular room with an ocean view, which was not expected, and we were likewise delighted by the delicious included breakfast buffet the next day. This was our first night ever in Ireland, up from Dublin airport. Far from having any service issues, everyone on staff whom we met was friendly, courteous, and went out of their way to be helpful. But I wish I remembered our check-in girl's name. Her husband belongs to the golf club there. If anyone there who may read this can figure out who she is, please give her our warmest greetings and deepest thanks. She may remember us. We were there on a C. S. Lewis "pilgrimage" of sorts, and I shared with her that I wrote the only published index to his writings.

The Clandeboye Lodge is out on its own. We do things differently. We’re all about people. We look after you. Properly. Our staff make the moment. Friendly, attentive, always happy to talk and advise, come and go, serve and smile. You’ll feel at home. We know it. When it comes to detail, we do it right. And, as we all know, the difference is in the detail. We’re out on our own. We like it that way. You will too. Coq and Bull. An unusual restaurant we think. Everyone seems at home. The old hand and young buck. Connoisseur and trencherman. The quiet diners and the in-with-a-crowders. Good, honest food. Taste is king and local rules. Wine, if not exactly compulsory, encouraged. And anyway, life’s too short not to. Don’t get us wrong. We love Belfast. It’s a city that is coming into its own. But why not stay out here with us? It’s not far. Then, when you do want to chill, you’re right here. A walk on the shore. A wander in the woods. A stroll through history.
Always first class experience! Visiting the Lodge is worth every penny, every time we visit! The food is extraordinary and the staff couldn’t be more hospitable. There are wonderful walks and beautiful scenery nearby - a lovely place to escape and recharge.

The Old Inn is nestled in the charming village of Crawfordsburn. In March, we booked C. S. Lewis's honeymoon suite for May 17-19, which was a "Junior Suite," and confirmed this by email. As big C. S. Lewis aficionados, this was a real treat for us. We could not have enjoyed our stay here more. The meals were all superb, over-the-top, and the staff, especially in the dining room but everywhere, were terrific. We especially want to mention wait staff Maria, Whitney, and Lynn. We enjoyed getting to know Maria a bit, and wanted to adopt her! She agreed to switch places with us, to come to Los Angeles, while we would take her position at the Old Inn! Trouble is, it would have taken both of us to do her job the way she does it, and even then... (LOL) Our room was awesome. It had an enormous copper bathtub, plus--joy of joys!--a classic wardrobe with a very ornate door on it, through which one could almost expect to fall into Narnia. See my photos. We would most certainly stay here again if we are ever lucky (blessed) enough to travel to lovely Ireland and the Belfast area once more.

Multi award winning Rayanne House is a unique period property with private grounds, parking and spectacular views over Belfast Lough. A genuine friendly welcome awaits you.
This is a wonderful place to stay, with some new delights to try on the extensive breakfast menu. The caramel spiced oranges were a big hit, so much so we came away with the recipe, and the hot baked cereal was another winner. The rooms were very comfortable and there is a really good choice of drinks to enjoy in the lounges. The highlight however was the tasting menu which was absolutely stunning, one of the best meals we have ever had. Add to this super friendly staff and owners and we would not hesitate in recommending here and would definitely like to return

Great location, clean and affordable room. Overall very friendly staff. Continental breakfast was a bit of an epic fail, not much choice and it seemed as though it had been ransacked by the group that got there before us. One member of staff was useless at our second breakfast, made a milky mess on our table, laughed and left us to clean it up but other than her the other staff were attentive. Would say that the breakfast was majorly overpriced for what we actually got.

Family run small hotel, 8 en suite rooms, terrance dining with panoramic views of Dundrum Bay. extensive menu including locally sourced fish & shellfish. Fully licenced bar & lounge including Our newly added South Prom coffee shop & brew bar. Our property is on the South Promenade at Newcastle Harbour: The harbour is among the most richly historic areas of Newcastle. Home to many longstanding families, the area around the pier has a long association with the sea. The origins of the current harbour date back to the 1820's, when a new pier was created by Lord Annesley to replace the old one. One of the chief functions of the pier was to act as a loading point for Mourne granite, which was quarried in the hills above the harbour. If you stand on the shorter arm of the pier and look up towards the mountain you can see a path cut through the trees leading to the now defunct quarry on Millstone Mountain. In the last century, stone was quarried here and dispatched down this track to the harbour by railtrucks. It was loaded on to ships (known as Stone Boats) and used to build docks in Belfast and Liverpool and the courthouse gaol in nearby Downpatrick
This is a quaint wee hotel. Staff was so friendly and Michael was great! We had a great lunch in the bar with stunning views. Breakfast was delicious too! We had a lovely walk into town and stopped bY a few wee pubs on the way. We will be back in a few weeks.
