It’s a short taxi ride to the Forbidden City & there’s not too much to do in the area, a couple of nice restaurants & Starbucks Now within easy walking distance. Decent sized rooms, facilities are reasonably well maintained but easy to see work needed. Breakfast buffet had a reasonable selection & able to enjoy daily. We weren’t expecting too much & had a pleasant stay.

Covid cancelled everything I paid for and they wouldn't even turn on the AC, now IHG won't respond

But, this is a nice hotel with great staff. I just want what I paid for. I live in Beijing and I stayed at this location about a year ago. I chose it again for the May holiday this year because the pool area/fitness center were quite nice and the service was very good. A friend recommended that I upgrade to the club lounge access, and I did. With my points standing I was upgraded to a Suite which was excellent. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end. Through no fault of the hotel, amenities were quickly taken away so the pool, fitness center, club lounge and restaurant were all closed shortly into my stay due to new Covid restrictions. I wasn’t even able to use my free welcome drink since the lobby bar was closed the entire time, too. IHG has offered no compensation for any of this and they have not responded to any of my inquiries about it. What made it worse was the complete lack of AC during my stay. Temperatures exceeded 30c and when I finally asked about it they brought up a small fan. After asking a second time the next night and being ignored, I posted about the issue here. Finally, the next day the manager came up and apologized. He gave me a gift and offered to move me, but since the AC had been turned on I stayed in my room. I removed my initial review since the manager took care of the problem, but unfortunately within hours the AC shut off again and left me tossing and turning all night in 29c heat. The next morning I checked out early, and to the hotel’s credit they didn’t charge me for the next night. I’ve stayed at this location and many others before and have never had a problem. However, this stay, and the lack of response from head office, really puts a bad taste in my mouth. I honestly was never difficult, even about the AC. I just want issues resolved, no conflict. Friends at other Beijing hotels over this break got refunds, free nights, vouchers (and never had a problem with AC). IHG won't even return my emails, even as a Platinum Elite member. To close I just want to say that the staff were still incredibly nice, and the pool/fitness area is very good. The club lounge and breakfast, while they lasted, were also excellent. I know closing all these things wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but I did pay for them and didn’t get to use them. I’m not looking for a refund, I would actually just love to come back and enjoy these things in the future.

This is not a bad hotel but somehow doesn't quite tick the normal Shangri-la boxes in terms of luxury and ambience. Our room (on top floor) was small, especially the bathroom, and felt autdated - and despite booking for 2 came with only one set of towels! Breakfast was OK but on one day was not ready at start time of 6:30. Reception and concierge service was helpful. I was offered a birthday cake, which was a nice touch, but administration of the gift was a bit haphazard. Unlike Shanghai (our home) and many other locations this hotel still takes COVID-19 very seriously but this is also a feature of Beijing. We were given toiletries on request at reception - for environmental reasons - but every time we returned to our room, our lights and aircon had been switched back on! The Shang Chines restaurant, including Peking Duck, was very good. Immediate surroundings are a sterile but a good location if you are going out each day.

Reviewed By FlyheadFriendly staff in a clean, comfortable and modern hotel. Rooms are spacious and well arranged. Just no bath tube, which would have been nice in these cold days. Breakfast is mostly Chinese style with some little western style selection. But nice fresh brewed coffee makers. Just too less seating area during peak hours from 7:30~8:30am. Hotel location is perfect next to a shopping mall (Han's Plaza), which has many restaurants and shops. Just to downtown of Beijing you'll need to spend at least 1h by car, if there is no traffic jam. If you don't need to commute to downtown frequently, then it's just fine. Especially for the price you pay you get much.

It is a very cool, vibrant, fashionable, artistic and special hotel. The room is great also ,with a 3D TV, a gun lamp, illy coffee machine, Bang & Olufsen's sound system, etc. The bed was like Westin's heavenly bed I really want to take all this home. Secondly. I was very lucky to meet Mr.Zhang or Kyle at the front desk by chance , Because I work in Beijing, I can speak some Chinese ,He is very considerate and humorous that I was really willing to chat with him, Many hotel staff are very reserved. But He doesn't give me this feeling. We are more like friends than guests ，I feel relaxed and comfortable talking with him, which making this place more like a home rather than a room for a short stay . Finally, I would like to appreciate the team of Hotel Eclat Beijing for leaving me this pleasant memory,Hope to see you again soon!

Front office was personnel knew English and were very helpful. Hotel had 3-4 restaurants and all were top class. Location of hotel is good, in middle of City with Forbidden City nearby. Few restaurants and a waling plaza are within walking distance. Highly recommended.

Easily resolved with management - got upgraded to king bed room on the 20 floor. During the day the room services recognises who is calling - this is great. All room service staff speak good English. Very easy to delivers ice service to the room. This hotel is about 10 min walk to the nearest metro station on line 2. (Chaoyangmen). You have to cross the road, to get the hotel. A bridge with escalators is available for for going up, but you will need to carry any bags down stairs. Shopping mall underneath the hotel. Walmart is about 15 min walk from the hotel. Near LGBTQ nightlife.

Check-in was a little complicated, health code was required, nucleic acid negative certificate was required, and JINGCHEN SPA on the second floor had a very bad experience. The technician was No. 70 and her name was EMMA, and she provided some bad services!
