For me, my stay in Bardia was the best part of my trip. And all thanks to Bardia homestay! I was planning on staying only for 7 nights, but I stayed for 12. Sonja and Budhi are really nice people and help you with everything you need. You can organize trips from the homestay in the jungle, like jungle walks or jeep safari's. The guides are really friendly, and it's super easy to do these trips. I went into the jungle seven times, five times on a walking safari, and 2 times on a jeep safari. I've seen five tigers in total, which was one of the most amazing moments of my life. Seeing a wild tiger was a dream come true for me. I also saw more than rhino's, a herd of elephants, hornbills, monkeys and much more! For animal lovers, like me, this place is heaven. My guide, Bale, was a super nice guy, and a great guide! Every time we saw an animal, he was super enthusiastic. And he knew I wanted to spot the hornbills specific, so he helped me find them! I enjoyed every second of my stay, and will definitely come back one day. I can highly recommend this place to everyone!

Our chefs have been trained by a British Chef and they can cook a variety of European, South Asian and Asian dishes.
Stayed with Mr B and his family just for a short time but were welcomed to enjoy some local celebrations with them which was real lovely. Both walking and rafting safaris were great. We were even able to borrow some (slightly rickety) bicycles to explore the village. Food is also excellent and the family really went that extra mile to make us feel welcome!

We stayed in the two story building. The room was excellent and different from what we are used to. One night we could hear drumming and singing coming from the village. It was peaceful and made us feel we were part of the local scene. The first two days we were there by ourselves and the staff were overly helpful. Our guides were very friendly, knowledgeable, and determined to make our experience memorable. The food was what we expected, wholesome and filling. Our three days in the national park were long, and we experienced long waits along the river watching out for wildlife; which will reward you. We saw a rhino, crocodiles, otters, jackals, owls, several species of deer, languir and macaque monkeys, many birds and insects; and on the last afternoon a royal bengal tiger! On our last morning we rode some bikes around the local villages and joined the children riding to school.

We are thankful to Racy Shade Resort for fulfilling our dream of seeing a tiger during our jungle safari. After just two hours, within 50 meters, we saw a tiger. We were mesmerized when it emerged from the bushes. It was massive. With its saffron colored and strong black stripes and moved with majestic grace. Our guide Mukti Ram Rijal led us safely behind it in silence and with respect for around twenty minutes. The team and hospitality of the resort was so good that we need to keep coming back. Once was not enough! Thank you to Kamal Bom, our trusted driver, who took us to this resort and took such good care of our family of multiple generations.

If you want an authentic experience, I highly recommend Bardia Kingfisher Resort. Jack, Pratap, and family are fantastic!! I ended up staying 2 extra days and sure am glad I did - saw a tiger on my original departure day!! So worth it. My inquiries were responded to very quickly. From the time I arrived at Nepalgunj airport to my departure, I was completely cared for and couldn’t ask for anything more. The jungle experiences (walking and jeep safari) and feeling like part of the family can’t be beat. My meals, prepared by Anju (Pratap’s wife) were incredible - I want cooking lessons next time. Accommodations are comfortable (not luxury) and very reasonably priced! And there’s no one I’d rather be with in the jungle than Jack. Thank you for an such an amazing experience - looking forward to my next visit!

Welcome to 'Jungle Base Camp' at Bardia National Park, the largest national park in Terai, Nepal. It is the only place in the world where you may see freshwater dolphins and tigers, in their natural habitat, on the same day!We are based in the quiet Tharu village of Thakudhwara on the border of the national park. Our lodge offers clean and quiet facilities within spacious gardens. The rustic mudbrick huts are decorated in a fully traditional Tharu ethnic style with carved designs of wild animals on their mud walls that exude an exotic jungle charm. Our Price is RS400 - Rs 800 per night
Coming there was one of the best experience in my life! Definitely place for people loving nature and simple, peaceful life. Every morning you'll be waking up hearing beautiful concert of many birds living around. During the day you can just rest or go for a walk in the local village. But one thing definitely you have to do - go with Hukum (who is the best guide in Bardia National Park) to the wild to searching for the tigers, rhinos, elephants and other animals living there ? It's really worth to do that! During your stay in Jungle Base Camp you'll feel like part of family. Hukum and his wife will take care of you and help you if you'll have some problem. Enjoy very tasty, simple Nepali food made by Hukum's wife from organic ingredients, mostly from their garden. Don't expect luxury in the rooms, it's not a five-star hotel, you'll have only essential things. If you are looking for adventure don't hesitate to come there! Namaste ?
