Located in the majestic hill-country paradise of Bandarawela, these chalets are located in the midst of a lush tea plantation grove and are surrounded by majestic mountains, crystal clear rivulets and are nestled within a forest reserve, ensuring the occasional visit from a curious deer or a wide-eyed squirrel, and even a mischievous hedgehog. The property is also conveniently situated a stone’s throw from other popular hill country destinations, such as Ella, Nuwara Eliya and Haputale. The location is also a utopia for bird-watching, of which the most sought after inhabitant in the area,is the Ceylon Red-rumped Swallow, also known as Wehi Lihiniya in Sinhalese. One of the native birds to Sri Lanka, these interesting visitors have taken a fancy to an age old tunnel bordering the lodge which was built over 100 years ago when they were first laying the railroads in the hill country. A cool and clear stream flows through this tunnel, which is a paradise for the Ceylon Red-rumped Swallow
Place with pure oxygen for breath, relaxing with nature tones, dine with superb unique dishes, speak with friendly staff, so many more. My family loved this place so, Coz we had a bath in their natural place, did fish therapy, walked under the British made tunnel & railway track. Main chef Heshan demonstrated a real traditional cooking experience. Owner 'Eranda" & the staff are well organized, professional & so friendly. Definitely will visit this place again & will be stayed multiple days. All the very best " Train View Chalet".

Roseland Cottages was an exceptional stay in a wonderful location. It takes you a while to reach this hidden gem by car, but the location is rewarding. Only pure nature, without noise or light pollution, just the jungle and you. The rooms facing the valley offer you an amazing sunrise experience (younger people would say Instagram-view). The sound of all the birds and other animals is even better. The owners and their team make sure that you get to relax and offer a delicious breakfast, which you enjoy overlooking the nature. They have their own coffee plantation and organic vegetables. Of course their own coffee is served for breakfast. Our kids loved the small dog (6 months old), who is very playful and even followed us on our guided hiking trip through the plantation. Absolutely amazing and perfect stay in this hidden paradise!

First of all lovely ambience. And most importantly I was travelling with my 2 year old baby...the hospitality of the hotel staff is unmatched. If you ever visit do ask for Megha. She took very good care of my baby's meals. Very very satisfied!!

Journey to the top of the world across a limitless mountain vista adorned by a green carpet of tea plants. Enter a long lost era through a portal of clouds and feel the kiss of mountain mist on your skin. Breathe the pristine mountain air and let your soul be rejuvenated. Gaze upon the dream scape of Bandarawela. Reside at the Bandarawela Hotel, and live for a while in a land of strawberries, pears and tea.The hotel has 33 colonial rooms with great views of tea plantations. All the bathrooms come with bathtubs and hot water. Each bathroom is supplied with all requirements. The rooms provide TVs with local channels and telephone with international direct dialing. Our rooms are wheel chair accessible.
I stayed at Bandarawela Hotel for three days with my family (4 pax, two adults and two kids with ages 9 & 11) in February 2022. I requested half-board booking since we hope to travel in day time in the surrounding areas. The price quoted for us was Rs. 23,185/= per day for triple room. Bandarawela hotel has a rich history starting from 1893. This was originally used as a rehabilitation centre for British soldiers who fought in WWI and WWII. Therefore the hotel building was named as an archaeological protected monument and no modifications can be done. Overall experience was good other than few negative points. Although I booked this hotel based on the experience I had at Kandalama hotel which was managed by the same Aitken Spence group. But the atmosphere was far different from that based on several perspectives. Food was ok but less in varieties, especially breakfast which lacked Soup/Porridge and only two main courses which were string hoppers and western diet. Room does not have satellite television service and the TV there was an old CRT one. WIFI was very weak. Also there was not a heater in the room because in the night and the morning the cold could not hold by us. Even though the ambiance was good my overall thought about this hotel is it is not what advertised in the web site. It is not a luxury hotel but a budget one. Therefore I think that we could not get what we paid for.

Constructed along the lines of the early 18C Cape Dutch bungalows, the Dutch House is a tastefully designed two-storey villa that also incorporates design elements from the colonial bungalows found in the south of the island. Set on a two-acre garden filled with fruit trees and flowering plants that attract many birds, it has been a highly-praised boutique property which encompasses a distinct local feel, with the use of antiques, art and soft furnishings that are locally sourced. The Dutch House offers well-appointed bedrooms, Sri Lankan cuisine and an informal and relaxing ambience, with 24 hour buttler service and a chef on site. The Dutch House can accommodate up to four guests and is ideal for couples, friends travelling together and families with children over the age of 10.
As another stop on our honeymoon, our stay at the Dutch House was absolutely impeccable. This villa can sleep 4 people so you have the entire house to yourself as a honeymooning couple, as we did. Kannan took incredible care of us throughout our stay and couldn't do enough for us. His kindness, thoughtfulness and service was first class. He was just lovely to chat to, he was funny and we really enjoyed the time we had with him. The food was INCREDIBLE and we enjoyed absolutely everything we ate and drank. The Sri Lankan breakfast was stunning and everything was prepared by the chef from the kitchen garden which Kannan took time to show us. The fruit, juices at breakfasts were my absolute faveourite and in the afternoon we came back for tea with Sri Lankan local tea and traditional treats/fruit. We even brought back some watermelon from the fruit market one day that they cut it up for us to eat with our tea. The grounds are beautifully kept by the gardener and it is such a picturesque place high above Bandarawela. Kannan went out of his way to look after us and even went into town one evening to fetch some Arrack for us to try as we had never had it before (its lethal stuff!) We wouldnt hesitate to return. Thank you Kanna and the staff for lookin after us so well - we will be back! Kristina & Shanta

The perfect escape amidst verdant mountain landscapes, Manor House offers an enchanting hideaway for families, couples or those just looking to get away from it all. Initially built as a holiday home complete with lush gardens, this bespoke boutique villa is a true standout amongst Bandarawela bungalows and features a distinctive colonial-style design which adds to its charm. There is a bit of history here as well; during World War Two the site was where the Grand Hotel once stood, frequented by those looking for a secluded sanctuary in the hills. Exclusively catering for resident guests only, Manor House is not only a place where you can enjoy the finest comforts and luxury, but also experience nature surrounded by pure serenity. We understand that it is important to preserve the environment around us and are committed to eco-friendly initiatives; from reducing energy usage and utilising solar power to sourcing fresh produce from our own organic garden.
Staying at the Manor House was an extremely satisfying experience. Beautiful villa and location. Perfection to the highest standard. Great service, food and pleasant staff. The hotel management welcomed us and made us feel as if we were the most important people in the world.

We had a great time during our stay at Highcairn Luxury Boutique. It was an amazing place for a weekend get away. The staff was very friendly and the food was too good. The room we were in was super comfortable and classy. We got the chance to grab the sight of sun rise at around 5.45 am and I think after Sripada this is one of the best places to observe the sun rise. Highcairn was a calm and quiet place that gave us the opportunity to enjoy our private time. They had some super cool antique items which enhanced the class of the place.

Rooms in the hotel are really big and have amazing views. Wifi works perfectly and the service is great. The food though was not good and we got really disappointed… I would only come back due to the cheap price, big rooms and good views, but I would for sure eat somewhere else.
