The "Mother of Cities" was founded in 1537, and declared independence from Spain in 1811. The charming historic section can be explored on foot. The friendly Paraguayan capital, gateway to the grassy Gran Chaco region, has long been a center of music, poetry and the arts, but only in recent years has Asunción been able to escape its long history of dictatorship rule. Sites to visit include Panteon Nacional de los Heroes, Casa de la Independencia and Catedral de Nuestra Senora de Asuncion.

We spent two days here after a week in the countryside. We were recognized as Spire Elite and upgraded to #601 as I requested because it has a view of the river. The room was spotless, comfy bed, large tub with a walk in shower. Huge selection of channels on the tv. Large swimming pool on five. The water was cold but clean. The club lounge is closed so breakfast was in the street level lounge as well as happy hour. Few guest because of the quarantine. Aureliano checked us in and the other ladies at reception were always helpful, I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will stay here again when return. They take Coveid precautions serious.

On April 19-20, April 27-28, and May 1-2 I stayed in Rooms 302 (1 night), 309 (1 night), 802 (2 nights) and 902 (2 nights). An outstanding property with fantastic rooms and great staff that was an absolute joy to stay at. I cannot say enough good things about the front desk or the breakfast area staff. Always helpful. Always friendly. Always making sure things were satisfactory. My rooms were quite spacious. A big bathroom with a huge walk-in shower. Fantastic views of Asuncion (for Rooms 302, 802 and 902). Amazing balcony in 302 looking into the city. And a huge one in the back from Room 309, but you couldn't see much of the city over the high wall and the surrounding buildings. Very spacious room, esp. solo. The beds and pillows always comfortable. Quieter up top, but not too bad even for the early motorcycle and bus traffic in the AM. The area around the hotel is easy to navigate, so close to the Palace of Lopez, for example. And walking down both Palma and Estrella a joy. I did it many times to the Pantheon of Heroes and the Plazas. As well as a 12-block walk south to the Plaza Italia one morning at 0500. Great location! The breakfast, either buffet or from the menu, was outstanding every day. The view from the 10th floor pool is amazing! I watched sunrises and sunsets. And I thoroughly enjoyed the pool even in the middle of fall. This was the place to start the day and end the day. And walk about from it during the day.

We found this hotel on TripAdvisor of course, and were in town for business from abroad. Although this review is a little late—we stayed multiple times in 2021 in Jan and May/June—they operated flawlessly during the pandemic, and even remembered us when we came back months later! They have a Juan Valdez cafe in the lobby, which was appreciated as a coffee lover :) The rooms are spacious and modern, and the beds so comfy. We hope to return. Muchísimas Gracias Hotel Hub Asunción!!

Located in one of the trendiest areas of the city, Dazzler Asunción is surrounded by attractive shopping and gastronomic centers. Its 300 rooms, distributed over 16 floors, offer maximum comfort and an avant-garde design, providing spacious and luminous environments. The hotel offers a restaurant, roof top bar, outdoor swimming pool, spa with whirlpool, saunas and massage room, gym and four functional rooms for events.
My stay also this second time in Asunción was great. The hotel offers a great service and organizes the pick up at the airport at any time. The hotel rooms are modern equipped. The rooftop restaurant and pool are definitely worth a visit. I always enjoy the wide variety of the breakfast buffet in the morning. It is a great option to stay in Asunción and you have the Mall del Sol right in front.

We're Gold Members with Mariott/Sheraton. Checked into two rooms early in the morning on the 1st day of a three-week stay. Hotel staff was friendly and very good in helping us with the early check-in and getting us settled in our rooms on one of the Club Level floors. They brought us a water kettle and we may be getting a coffee maker. The rooms are nice - maybe a little tired - but still nice. The counter agent told us the Club Lounge was open 24/7 and happy hour would be between 6 pm and 8 pm. We were satisfied with that and decided to visit the club to get a cup of coffee while waiting on the rooms. It was then we realized the club "room" was open, but there was absolutely nothing in it. No person, no coffee, no water. We went back to the counter only to be told the room was open but because of COVID (most overused "excuse" phrase since Y2K) there was no service available - just an empty room with some furniture. We went back for happy hour to find the room still empty and back down to the check-in counter to be told happy hour was in the restaurant. Once in the restaurant we we given our "happy hour" allotment - a half glass of wine and a small appertizer. So for $20+ USD each we were given house wine and a few finger sandwiches, whereas we could have purchased a bottle of Chandon for about $25. We've been in Sheratons, Marriotts and Shangri-Las all over the world and I must say the Sheraton Asuncion Club Lounge takes the cake. We were totally dumfounded. Almost forgot about water. You get one half-liter complimentary bottle of water in the room. Ask for any more and you got to pay. Maybe a good hotel for a short stay. If you're staying longer be sure to have your questions answered before you get in the taxi at the airport.

We have rooms with a/c and ensuite bathroom. Hot water 24 hours. Our facilities include free breakfast and free internet (WIFI).We also have a laundry service, a kitchen for our guests, a TV room (with cable TV and DVDs), as well as board games to have fun and share with other travelers...Unless you prefer to enjoy a drink at the bar or on the terrace, listening to music, or watching hummingbirds flying in the garden, between the palm trees and the flowers
Really not a good experience. I got back after a night out and the doors which require you to be buzzed in by someone were not answered. I started to panic a bit because it’s a dodgy area and felt unsafe. No one answered for 10 minutes or so and I had to climb in over a 2 metre fence. The main issue was when I explained this to the staff the next day. They told me I was waiting 2 minutes which was not true, they then didn’t say sorry. They were mean and hostile towards me. They made me feel uncomfortable for complaining and both changed and got really mean towards me. I decided to leave and go somewhere else as I had a flight the next day at 6am and didn’t want to miss it if the door was not answered. They said they would not refund me for my last night and I said that’s their decision but not good customer service. It feels like a weird environment, I sat down on a table the first day and the owner told me I can’t sit there as she is having all her friends over this evening. It was hours before they arrived, it was just to be mean she said this. It’s in a dodgy area, which is about 20 minutes walk to the centre and longer to the attractions. There were not many people there and there was no vibe / social element. There were just people remotely working. They had no activities that could offer and they told me not to bother exploring as the attractions are very crowded. Probably one of the worst hostels I have ever stayed in and I don’t recommend.
