Usual standards for the Jinjiang Inn chain. I had a lovely comfortable bed and slept well. Staff will try to speak a little English at reception. I thought 300rmb for the deposit was expensive, make sure you have enough cash on you at check in. My room did not have a great deal of natural light as its window was onto an internal /small courtyard. However, this did mean I didn't hear any road noise. Unfortunately, plenty of disturbances from others staying in the hotel late at night and then early in the morning but that is the case at many Chinese hotels. Location is great - above main branch of KFC on Renmin Lu and 2 minutes walk from McDonalds also. You can easily get a taxi as well. Buses to the east/can be caught on nearby Xiaosu Lu and north/south at Longyan Lu (top of Renmin Road)

Supposedly one of the better hotels in the city but not up to western standards. However, if you are only paying Chinese prices c. 250RMB for a room what can you really expect. Still if you've been in China a while you'll think the bed is quite soft; if not you'll think it's pretty firm. The bathroom was spotless but as per other English reviews the soft furnishings are worse for wear and tear.

The only good point about the hotel is that is is very near the very scenic Dahu lake, and there is a very modest shopping mall with a supermarket across the lake. The hotel itself was badly maintained, ventilation was poor and corridors were dim even on the ground floor on a bright day. Rooms were decent, but wallpapers were starting to peel off at the edges, again indication of age and poor maintenance. Being not a very picky person, I was still okay with the room, until a shocking event happened. On the 3rd morning, my roommate was doing some unpacking one of his bags (he hasn't touched that bag since the first day we checked in) and he discovered a used condom stuck under it. Immediately the whole room stank like hell. The thing is we did not see any condoms on the floor when we checked in, and neither did we detect any unusual smell in the room until this incident. Therefore, we suspected that the condom could have been accidentally left behind while we were already living in the room. So my room mate tried going to the receptionist and even their manager to request for an explanation, but all they did was pushing the responsibility to one another, and even suggested that it was left behind by me! Horrible customer service, I would say! This unpleasant episode aside, housekeeping was almost zero too. Imagine after we returned back to our room after our breakfast (which we took like only half an hour), we discovered that our room has been "cleaned up". Really that fast? Not really. I still find hair from my legs and hands all over my blanket. So basically what the housekeeping staff did was just folding the blanket back nicely, and topping up used toiletries, that's it. Oh, and speaking of breakfast, their breakfast was rather decent, Chinese buffet-style with quite a variety of dishes to choose from. Porridge, fried rice, fried noodles, dumpling soup, fried vegetables, buns, etc.

The hotel is outdated. The decorations are cheap and unprofessional. The breakfast was not very good; always left hungry. It is also dirty. Part of the ceiling opened to the attic area above the shower and kept opening.

Nice size room with all amenities including electric outlet next to bed, and English TV station for the news. Nice king size bed with comfortable linen and blankets. The ac was a bit noisy. Bath had tub and showers tall with rainshower. The hot/cold mixture was tricky to adjust. Breakfast was adequate but should have some good Kelloggs brand cold cereals. All in all thumbs up.

Anqing is a sprawling city, and the Phoenix is in a newly-developed district that's relatively convenient to the municipal offices. The hotel overlooks a small lake, and is in a quiet area. Because of its isolation, however, there is nothing within easy walking distance; there is a small convenience store in the lobby, although it seems to close early in the evening. The Phoenix is a huge property whose architecture tries to evoke a pastiche of European cities, especially Venice. The lobby is cavernous, and features vaulted ceilings with elaborate paintings. Rooms are in a more subdued style, but still make nods to a foreign vision of European opulence. Although the hotel is relatively new, it is already starting to show its age due to lack of careful upkeep. My room was clean, but starting to look a bit worn. Bedding is very firm. The bathroom was large, with great water pressure in the shower. Staff members are friendly and helpful, but may not be able to speak English. There are no foreign television channels available. At breakfast, there are a handful of non-Chinese options, but no Western utensils, and only instant coffee is available. It was unappetizing to see dirty flypaper in the dining area's windows. There is a fitness center, but it is only open from noon until 10 PM. Overall, the Phoenix offers a decent night's sleep and good value in a quiet location. Foreign guests should realize that the amenities typically found in an international chain may not be available, and allow themselves to be entertained by the property's exuberant design.

早就入住了过了,突然发现在显示中还是未到达。房间太小了,很拘束,感觉转不过身体;早餐不错很丰富,比菱湖南路的那一家好太多了。
