I was very pleased with my few nights' stay at Las Orquideas. Though it doesn't look it from the outside, it's a large, sprawling building, decorated with attractive hints of "Peruvian Rustic." My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The courteous owner and manager, Sr Jorge, speaks fine English, and is a good source for local information. A nice continental breakfast is provided; but ask for an egg at breakfast, if tamales are not your favored breakfast choice -- even though their tamales are actually quite good. (If it still isn't quite enough for bigger appetites, there are cafes within easy walking distance.) The hotel has a good location, only a brief walk from the Plaza Mayor. All in all, a fine place to stay.

I really liked staying at this cozy hotel. The service is very friendly and helpful, the room is small but charming. The hotel is very well located in the center in a quiet area. Fair prices and fresh breakfasts. I would come back again (:

Casa Hacienda Achamaqui Hotel is strategically located 20km from the city of Chachapoyas so that our guest can visit Chachapoyas kingdom and all the main tourist attractions nearby. History and archeology lovers will find an enigmatic mausoleum outside the plantation house, on top of a mountain. Because of the surrounding nature and its closeness to the river, Achamaqui is the ideal place to find.
Stayed here 2 separate nights. Wished for 1 more! Beautiful grounds and landscape. Small staff worked very hard at catering to guests every request/question. Location excellent for day touring and evening relaxing. Upstairs end rooms recommended.

Originally Casa Mallqui was designed as a residence for researchers who had worked for Leymebamba Museum and archaeological remains of Laguna de los Condores Mausoleum. Over time, the building and the purpose were expanded to work as a rural lodge for visitors seeking a wide variety of experiences. Casa Mallqui is located next to the Leymebamba Museum, 5km from Leymebamba town. It is small, but pretty and cozy lodge surrounded by cloud forest nature of the Andes. It provides an excellent location for observers of orchids and native birds, including hummingbirds, owls, magnificent condors, quetzals, etc. The area includes numerous archaeological sites to which day trips can be arranged. It is possible to visit artisan shops of wood carvers and weavers that use traditional techniques and designs of the ancient Chachapoya. The income generated from the lodge helps to cover the expenses of Centro Mallqui and the Leymebamba museum.
We can only re-emphasize everything others have already said about Casa Mallqui: it is a very special place, and we can't wait to return and spend more time there. We very much enjoyed visiting the spectacular museum next door during half a day (guided tour), which is the perfect place for an introduction to the area. The lodge also has a small library of books available to visitors, including same awesome coffee-table books about ancient Peruvian cultures. What elevates your stay at Casa Mallqui to Nirvana level, is the presence of its charming and incredibly kind innkeeper, Ms. Ayako Sakuta. With prior reservation, Ayako can cook meals for you, in addition to breakfast, and all we can say is DO NOT MISS THE CHANCE TO TASTE HER CUISINE! WOW!

We are not located directly in the center of town but a few block away from all the noise and the bustle. We have a beautiful view of the Andean mountains from the balcony on the 2nd floor and a small patio and garden out back. All of the amenities are shared by the guests. There is no private bathroom on the premise/attached to any of the rooms. Guests have full access to the kitchen, at all hours, which is stocked with free tea, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil. There is also a public computer set up with internet for guests to use at anytime, this complements the free wifi throughout the house. Tour information is readily available from our knowledgeable staff as we work directly with the #1 tourist agency, according to TripAdvisor, Amazon Expedition to schedule tours with our clients at great prices, that even include direct pick up from Aventura! Additionally, we have a place where people can hand wash their clothes and shoes after an amazing day of trekking and a place to hang such items to dry. Lastly, we want to make your transition into Chachapoyas as smooth as possible so we will ask for your travel details and send someone to accompany you to the hostel free of charge!
The staff are really nice and the WiFi is great. There is hot water. But the place needs some TLC. The kitchen is dirty, noone seems to clean up after themselves and it's not enforced. The shower isn't that clean neither. The dorm room is cramped, luckily it was only half full as there as no space to stand, get dressed and pack. The mattresses are also old and you can feel the springs. The sheets were old but looked clean. I stayed one night and that was enough. If you want cheap place and can sacrifice cleanliness this this is it

The best hotel in Chachapoyas. The best facilities totally renovated, excellently located, beautifully decorated and with the best quality of service. We also have shared and private tours and transfers services in English and Spanish.
Nice hotel in an old Casona (an old colonial building) with an inner patio and a small garden at the back. Rooms are large, a bit cold, because of the huge walls. We had a double room, but actually it was like a duplex with three more single beds on the upper floor. The bathroom was small but newly installed, with a wc, and shower with really hot water. The restaurant serves classical peruvian food. There were no cocktails available because they had no bar tender. They had just reopened the restaurant after the Covid lockdown. Breakfast is rather poor: one egg, some bread with cheese and marmelad, a small juice and coffee or tea. Breakfast is served (no buffet) because of Covid restrictions. Personnel at the reception was kind and helpful (e.g. they readily printed our boarding passes). No elevator to the first floor though. And the street is pedestrian, so you have to walk half a block to get to the hotel. Two blocks from the Main Square. There are some restaurants and coffee bars within two or three blocks.
