What a suprise to find this jewel. Four of us stayed in a Cottage with a lovely view over a large duck pond. Both bedrooms on-suite. The cottage was spacious even with fresh flowers and rusks. Underfloor heating in the bedrooms were already on (nice toutch) and the Cottage was spotless. The Staff could not do enough for us. We had an excelkent 3-course dinner in our Cottage with wine & beer. Breakfast in the restaurant was good. Had a lovely short walk through the farm to the Orange River. My only complaint - the waterflow in the shower was very weak, but the rest made up for it.

Kwela B&B in Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape on the Friendly N6 route to East London, is situated in town. We offer guests a comfortable, luxurious stay in our beautiful decorated rooms. We have standard as well as executive and family rooms available to guests.
This is a wonderful pet friendly guest house that warmly welcomed us and our new dog. We enjoyed meeting the lovely owners and also liked having them next door to their guesthouse to help with anything their guests may need. The location is great and our room was spotless. Having a fridge in the room is always a bonus and we enjoyed our cooked breakfast which was great value for money. We'll definitely stay here again.

The room was clean and modernly furnished. Obviously a new enterprise. The disappointments were a lack of towel rail or extra hook in bathroom, basin was far too high and no crockery. The owners were very helpful and provided crockery immediately and also replenished a stock of only one Ceylon teabag and one rooibos. As we both drink Ceylon this was a bit min. Especially as we'd been on the road all day and needed tea immediately plus in the morning. Very like a motel in that one can park outside one's unit. I had a glimpse of their breakfast while collecting crockery and it looked delicious. There was no charge for safe parking.

The Inn claims to have a restaurant, true.....BUT on arrival I was asked If I wanted dinner to be told to be there by 18:00hrs . With no other options round the corner as hotel out of town I reluctantly agreed. At 18:10hrs the owner knocked un my door and told me in no uncertain terms that I was late for dinner. When I asked for a pre-dinner drink the bar was closed, one option only as Vodka and wine by the glass Red or White out of a plastic box. Awful quality and that in South Africa. I felt sorry for the smiling nice waitress and hurried my meal down to be a good boy back to the room. No wonder that I was the only guest in the restaurant totally lacking any atmosphere or ambience ..... I was told this was one of the newly renovated rooms which might as well be but the the bathroom fittings used are of lowest quality which will backfire soon. Good luck!

We spent a night here on the way down to the Eastern Cape. Firstly let me thank the staff as they were excellent and helpful! Our experience related to the location and surrounds. The lodge is on the Orange River right next to the bridge. The traffic noise and people noise was unbearable. Even though the curfew was in place that did not stop the noise continuing all night.

Conville farm is a historic Sir Herbert Baker designed home, built in 1908 and still under the same family ownership.its set only 3km outside of aliwal north 800m away from the Orange river,in sprawling manicured gardens, with a beautiful north facing view overlooking the irrigation dam.its been in operation as a bed and breakfast for over 25 years, and is an ideal, peaceful stopover for those travelling to or from the coast and guateng.
Spic and Span, what an immaculate home set on the outskirts of Aliwal North . Our hostess is friendly and tells us about the history behind this home. It is full of beautiful antiques and has kept almost all of its history with wooden floors and tall ceilings. Plenty of place to take a lovely walk in this farm. This place is perfect for people not looking for the hustle and bustle of a town.

Good Rates, Clean, neat rooms available. Indoor swimming pool, 5 Channel TV & DSTV. Secure parking protected by CCTV Cameras. A extra TLC to all our Customers.
Booking when you look at photographs can sometimes lead to a big disappointment. This was the case here. We were shown one very dark and dismal room so we asked to be changed. The second one was brighter but so many no Nos ....mirror too high, bedside light that didn’t work,no towel hook in the bathroom and a door which we struggled to lock. Plus the WiFi only “came on” at 5 and seemed to go off at midnight. This place is not cheap either, really expected more - the breakfast at R100 a person was not good. Warmed up food and instant coffee. Not happy at all
