A stronghold of Mayan culture, San Cristóbal’s colonial stucco walls and Spanish tile roofs contrast with the surrounding villages, which remain home to an array of Mayan-descendant Indians. The city itself is a delight. Paired with the cultural diversity surrounding it, there’s nothing like it in Mexico.

Andi and Jerri went above and beyond for us. Can’t forget about Antonio. This hostel was clean and chill. Good breakfast. Good vibes. There’s a pool table and tv upstairs which is nice. Oh and the pan cakes for breakfast are delicious. I also kinda met love of my life here.

Los Camellos Hostel, established in 1998, was one of the first in this city and is still the most recommended to enjoy your stay in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas. It’s a beautiful colonial house with courtyard and garden, located in one of the main streets of the historic center, 5 minutes walking from the Zocalo (Central Park) and tourist walkways, in a central, quiet and safe area, next to all the shops that you may need (laundry, fruits and vegetables, mini market, bakery, butchers, restaurants, etc.).We offer a large kitchen super equipped (fridge, oven, blender, juicer, many dishes, utensils and condiments) including free drinking water, coffee and tea all day.The indoor and outdoor commune areas are spacious and well distributed, with places to rest, share and eat.The rooms are spacious, nice and comfortable, with table, chairs, sheets, blankets and towels.Managers are French & Mexican travelers receiving you personally in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The experience of more than 10 years as travelers and hoteliers allows us to always improve, providing cleaning and hygiene, safety and comfort, affordable prices and kindness.
Look we liked this place. Rooms where clean, central location and reasonably priced. The big kick in the teeth however was wtf lock the kitchen in a secure premises. If you have an early tour or like us a early 12 hoir bus trip....no coffee, no breakfast and you cant get your own food out of the fridge. Really annoying to find this out when we could do nothing about it...seriously?

Our house was built in the eighteenth century and restored a year ago retaining all the colonial touches and good taste of the time, we have 9 rooms (between private with private bathroom, private with shared bathroom and dormitories, 22 beds with capacity up to for 30 people, 5 public bathrooms and 6 showers, a bar (the jaguar's cave), two kitchens, an Irish steamer, a super comfortable TV room and a terrace with a wonderful view of the mountains and the city. artisanal (Tokos'h), we include breakfast highlighting that we make our own bread, jam, butter and chorizo, Wifi service, shared kitchen, a huge central patio with a water fountain at the entrance, but the most important thing is that we look for that all travelers feel at home and enjoy their passage through San Cristobal de las Casas All our beds are new, clean and warm to rest from the routine and the days moved, Spain full of light and art with a touch of love that characterizes us. Casa Tequio Hostal - Love made by hand. !
I want to like this hostel, I really do. It’s a beautiful old home that feels spacious. Esperanza, the owner is like a grandmother from a fairy tale. At first I thought it was an act..no one is THAT excited described TOAST! JAM! But she’s entirely sincer. Also, unfortunately, she suffers from some form of dementia ( I’ve been in and out of the hostel a few times over the past years) and her functionality has a base rate of 50% but sometimes her memory loses 90% which is horribly sad. Even with this I am fond of her but there are ramifications. There are no Covid policies AT ALL and there was a New Years party and a case and then a case in the next room. This old man slept and hacked and coughed all over the lovely hotel and the official policy was the fumigated the unventilated dorm only. And she retained her lovely, zany, brainless persona even when it was a serious issue.l What can I do?? What can I do? Well, there’s a list. I like her but there are limits when basic functions ( making change for example) are too difficult

This small boutique hostel, owned and run by Rodolfo for the last 13 years, is a remarkably warm and welcoming home for backpackers and independent travelers. Much quieter than others, everything is spotless. You enter a leafy courtyard with a fountain in the middle where fish swim. You can also enjoy the sun terrace and admire the mountains, prepare small dish in the kitchen or enjoy a barbecue. The communal sitting area awaits you with cushions and fireplace. Wi-Fi access to the Internet is free. The four mixed dorms are spacious and airy with private lockers for every guest. In addition, there are four bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom. It is ideally situated in a quiet area, close to the craft market and great restaurants and downtown. The hostel also offers tours around Chiapas and horseback to the mountains or to San Juan Chamula.
Qhia Hostel was a nice Hostel, If you really want to relax and be in a quiet place, Qhia is a master of it. The layout of the hostel is well planned, The courtyard was my favorite and well maintained by raz. They also have a rooftop indoor and outdoor where you can just chill and do some wellness. People that I met was great. Location is closer to local market which is the best of all.

Rossco Backpackers hostel, established in 2003, Becomes the most famous and the best hostels in San cristobal, Chiapas - Mexico. This hostel is an excellent hacienda style hostel well adapted to respond to all travellers needs, offering a wide variety of services at reasonable prices for backpackers and independent travellers world wide.
This hostel really seems overrated. The toilets are super nasty, security level is low - anyone can basically walk in and out at anytime. Walls are super think, so you can hear everything that’s going on anyway. Privates in the attic are a joke - tiny rooms full of crossbeams. You can’t really judge a hostel by its guests, but the atmosphere was super weird. Common areas indoors are not super cozy, and outdoor areas aren’t really good for ganging out in cold San Cristobal.

The most dirty hostel I've seen. I stayed one week and they cleaned the bathroom only once. I could everyday see the same pieces of toilet paper stuck on the floor... There is never hot water. They tried to trick me by modifying my original reservation.

Puerta Vieja is a brand new hostel, recently opening its doors with the certainty of becoming one of the top traveler’s spots in no time. The reasons for this are simple: a stunning neo-classic house, with friendly, helping, fun staff willing to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. A great ambiance, in a fabulous location: only a block away from the main square (Zócalo). Tasty meals and good parties, an approach to the cultural diversity this beautiful city has to offer, a rooftop terrace with a view that will take your breath away, a massive garden with a Temazcal (Mayan sauna) and hammocks in it. Different room sizes: private bedrooms, small and big dorms, depending on your needs and privacy desires. The freedom to cook your own food or treat yourself with one of the delicious meals our top chef has to offer. All in all, the possibility for the traveler to fully enjoy San Cristobal in a nice, friendly, clean, spacious hostel. We are in the very heart of the city centre: Only one block away from the main square, and a five minutes walk to the main pedestrian zones where the best bars, restaurants and clubs in the city are. There are many things to do in San Cristobal, and we will be happy to provide you with information on what to do during the day or when going out at night..The building is a big neo-classic house, though modernly refurbished to meet the traveler’s needs. The fun and friendly ambiance will make you feel comfortable immediately, along with our accommodation options, which are suitable for all families, individual travelers or groups of different sizes. There are 17 full bathrooms which are spacious and clean at all times. Our main purpose is for you to have fun and feel cozy enjoying your visit in San Cristobal. The hostel has three common areas, for the travelers to meet and share experiences, chat and have a good time. The garden at the back has got a deck and hammocks where you can chill out. BBQs take place in a regular basis, so expect a few of these! There is a Temazcal in the garden too, which is the traditional Mayan sauna, experienced through a purifying ritual. The main central patio is the place to have your meals, whether prepared by yourself in the fully-equipped self-catering kitchen or by our chef, so you can taste an authentic regional or Mexican meal. The rooftop terrace offers one of the best views of San Cristobal while enjoying popular drinks from Chiapas, Mexico and around the world. We guarantee spacious accommodations, be in the private rooms with ensuite bathrooms or in the rooms and large dorms with shared facilities, within a range of competitive prices, breakfast included. We have two large dorms, for eight and sixteen people each.Meeting other fellow travelers at Puerta Vieja Hostel will be simple, as different kind of activities are daily organized, such as tours, theme parties, pub crawls, all this with no curfew.Daily housekeeping and clean fresh bed linen are included in the price. Towels are included for private rooms or available to dorms for a small fee. Wi-Fi, hot water and power showers and luggage storage are among the services the hostel provides for free.
6 girls in my dorm, including me, got incredibly sick here from the water. We’re now each in our next places backpacking in a lot of pain. The staff were indifferent to the fact it was their food/“filtered” water that made us ill and didn’t try to help. Hostel was dirty and there was a weird vibe there, no places to chill and a not welcoming crowd.

We spent a great few days at Casa Monad, we were 7 people so had our own dorm, comfy beds, lots of blankets and big lockers. The showers have hot water and the WiFi is fast. Breakfast is included (French toast, eggs, cereal and fruit) and the kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere but this is not a party hostel - we liked it for that! Totally recommend!
