Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and one of the seven ancient capitals of China. It was described by Italian traveler Marco Polo as the finest and most luxurious city in the world. The West Lake scenic area contains over 60 cultural relic sites and several attractions of natural beauty, and a cruise on the lake is a good option to view several sites. Hangzhou is also a good place to visit a tea plantation.

the toilets have NO toilet paper, NO handsoap.. bathrooms were unisex, and very cold during winter due to huge window. The female toilets were dirty, overflowing with exposed used sanitary pads, the cleaners never bothered to clear them away. the staff were not particularly helpful, and not fluent in English. I stumbled upon a daily night market myself. Cheaper to book through agoda than directly

交通便捷,高铁巴士可到门口;房间小,但是卫生干净,价格便宜。公共区域室内外空间都很和谐清静,书籍不少。

The power went out at our first hostel and I think this is a partner of the hostel we were staying at as they were quick to accomodate us and welcome us to our room. The hostel is warm and inviting and our room was quite large and comfortable. We liked how the sink, toilet and shower areas were all separate and we still had lots of room to move around. The bed was large and comfy and the rooms were at a nice warm temperature during our stay in December. The lobby area is a pretty cool spot to hang out and the hostel is in a good location in the Hefang Street area with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. To get here you can enter in Wushanyi International Youth Hostel in Didi and the closest metro station is Ding'An. You can walk to the West Lake area from here as well but it will take a bit.

We had an ok stay here and think we would have enjoyed it more in the summertime. It is quite chilly in December and it took our room a very long time to warm up. We stayed in a king sized bedroom and it is just a place to sleep. The bed was comfy but the comforter was quite thin. There were only two working electrical outlets in our room and the power went out while we were out and about before our third night stay! Luckily they were able to arrange a stay at a nearby hostel. The hostel has a great location in the Hefang Street area and the lobby is quite cozy. There is a good coffee place right accross the alley and many restaurants within walking distance. We also walked to the West Lake area from this hostel. For Didi enter in Hefangtou Zhuomo. The cars can't drive right up but will get you within walking distance. The closest metro station is Ding'An and is about a 10 minute walk away.

I stayed in this hostel for 3 nights in a 4 bed dorm. The room was fine, clean enough and the shower was good. Bed was completely solid! Staff were very friendly all through my stay, helping whenever they could with directions and tickets etc. Food in the restaurant was really delicious and good value. However the common area / restaurant was freezing in the evening even with coats on and the heater as the door was always left open!! It is in a quiet location away from the city. For me I liked this, having spent a number of weeks in cities it was nice to get out of a city centre. This did mean a 15 minute bus ride from where the city and lake meet. Double check bus numbers and routes as these seemed to have changed from the hostels information. All in all good value for money and a pleasant, relaxed stay.

Yiju Youth Hostel
We stayed here for a few nights in September. The hotel is within walking distance of the Lingyan Temple compex and the fun cable car station up the mountain (where you have another temple). Here you also find a bus station, where you can easily take bus 7k to West Lake attractions, and to Hangzhou city center. At this bus station you can also find a public bicycle counter, where you can use the Hangzhou public bicycle program. We loved the place. Our room was spacious and tidy. They offer free Wi-Fi and rent bikes themselves. Nobody speaks English there though, which was disappointing but fun at the same time. Make sure you bring a translation ap on your smartphone, or a booklet called 'Point It'. Perfect for a short stay near West Lake.

Great staff, great atmosphere, clean Huge private room, close to the lake, zoo and tea village. the restaurant has great food and good prices, the room was huge, the bed was amazing and big bathroom. internet was super fast. everyone tried their best to answer all my questions and directed me to activities, i was in contact with the hostel on wechat before and during my stay. they helped me to make it easy to get there since it can be challenging with the traffic. (take a bus from metro stop). this is a fantastic hostel (more like a hotel), the location may seen far, but is close to the lake by bus, Didi (uber), bike or walking. close to the univeristy by Didi. and not too far from alibaba. i recommend this hostel 100% better than staying in a hiotel in the middle of the city.
