Worst experience ever at a hostel for a solo travel!
Reviewed By swapna_bkk17Sharing my awful experience so that you don't go through the same. I had a one day short trip planned to Amritsar and had done my booking with Blue Eye for the private room. I called and spoke to the owner of the place before booking as I needed a early check-in. I was carrying lot of luggage and also, really needed to rest few hours and then make most of the day as I just had one day before flying back to Thailand. It had been a very crazy hectic week for me. I was assured that it can be managed. In good faith, instead of 50% I transferred the full amount pre-trip. On reaching there at 7 am (it is a difficult to find place and looks kind of shady from the appearance of it) I am told that they gave the room away to someone else. I was asked to sleep in the dorm for 2 hours, then get up and shift to the private room. When I called and spoke to the owner, he was rude, argumentative and insensitive. He just mentioned nothing can be done and it was all very upsetting as I had not slept all night and was very tired. I decided to move to another place and demanded for a refund for which I was told I should contact booking.com from where I had booked. He did not even have the courtesy of telling me the truth that even if I reach out to booking.com they will not refund any amount as per policy. He even hung up on me. I had to book another hotel, the only good part was the boy working there was kind enough to let me wait there and direct the cab to pick me up, he was quite courteous. I later texted the owner what he is done is not fair to which he promised refunding 50% of the amount. I sent him my bank details and this was 3 weeks ago, there has been no refund or no word from him. For me, it is not even about the money. It is about keeping one's word or atleast being transparent to communicate and the overall experience. I stayed at Treebo near the Golden Temple and was well taken care of. I am glad I did not let this experience ruin my trip to Amritsar. Would especially not recommend for female solo travelers.

Reviewed By MichaelW5292I stayed in a shared dorm at Gostops Amritsar on two occasions recently and my overall experience was good. The athomsohere is very relaxed and the staff are most friendly. Rooms and bathroom are always clean and the common area is comfortable. They accommodated my bicycle and after checking out allowed me use the cloakroom and facilities until my bus departed later that evening. Highly recommended.

It is my dream project, as I have done interior with vintage looks, like gramophone old telephone booth, old army missiles, feelings of maharaja's, with spanish kitchen tiles, european concept, like hanging cycle. Wooden pallets use at different places with different concept. Even I have use our ancestors cooking stove as vintage light, hand made decorative art work, wooden concept, reception is totally natural wood, like bamboo nd wooden log are use as tables, lord budha wallpaper is specially on front for peace of mind.

Reviewed By Akki_1305Awesome place with good staff and near Golden Temple located in old Amritsar, where you can find everything near by. The famous restaurant, Kesar Da Dhaba is at walking distance (1.5 km- 20 mins on foot). They have a lovely labrador for your safety? Nutz Backpacker is completely worthy of your money. You can have dorms as well as private rooms, with clean washrooms. The common room is an interesting space with board games and books. They also have a kitchen where you can cook whatever you want.

Manje bistre is a dormitory situated just opposite to jallianwala bagh and ten foot steps from world famous golden temple. It have 36 bunk beds in two dorms 18 each both dorms are air conditioned, free wifi and we provide lockers to each bed and curtain for privacy .

We selected the place by looking at the pictures and were doubtful if it would be as good as it appeared in the pictures. When we arrived at the property we found it to be way better than what we thought. Neat and clean and at a great location. Walkable distance from Golden temple, Jalianwala Baugh, Partion museum and market. Mr. Sunny was really helpful and guided us thoughout our stay. They say, "Customer is god..." Mr Sunny actually treated as like one. Thank you Mamta, Sir, Mam and RHS travel team for helping us with booking the property and gifting us with this beautiful experience at Amritsar. Would highly recommend this property to all family groups, school and college groups.. thank you ! Harish Hegde & Family

Nothing WOW about this hostel...

Placed down a dodgy area of Amritsar (the area around the golden temple is so lovely in comparison!) the staff was unwelcoming and not very friendly. Our room was meant to be the private room complete with a broken glass table, dirty floor and bedsheets and who knows what was on the ceiling. The beds where rock solid, no exaggeration - we used our travel towels and travel pillows to sleep on. The bathroom taps did not work and there was no WiFi access unless you were willing to stand on the stairs. They did have kitchen facilities which we didn’t use due to cleanliness. I wouldn’t recommend you stay here at all. The cost is cheap but if you want somewhere clean and somewhere comfortable, this definitely isn’t the place.
