The Algarve's sunny shores offer perfect escapes for all types, from those seeking the hot nightlife of flashy, energetic Lagos to those desiring secluded stays in rambling Sagres. Portugal's most southerly region offers historical attractions in former Moorish capital Silves and fascinating Tavira, great golf, fabulous beaches from Praia da Luz to Armacao de Pera, thermal springs at Caldas de Monchique, and miles of limestone caves and grottoes, cliffs and bays along its rugged coastline.

Very close to one of the best beaches in the Algarve (2 minutes walking), with white sand, calm, clear waters. In this village you will find a huge gastronomic offer, bars with plenty of entertainment and also regional crafts. The RIA HOSTEL ALVOR, with a relaxed and jovial decoration, has 6 bedrooms with 2 rooms with 1 doublebed and 1 bunkbed, 2 rooms with 3 bunkbeds and 1 room with 4 bunkbeds.
We decided to tour Portugal and not plan for a couple of nights so we weren't restricted to places if we found a cool spot. It turns out that we found the best spot ever. We booked last minute, they had a laundry service for a small fee, the amenities were perfect. Where we stayed had 2 levels of terrace to see the sun set over the ocean. We also were steps away from restaurants and the beach. I would stay there again for sure!

This hostel exceeded all expecations in every way.First of all Tavira is a beautiful picturesque place with plenty to keep the whole family occupied. The hostel is located in a quiet shady street, tucked away yet near to shops and restaurants. It's cool interior with such tasteful decor is a joy to return to after a busy day out.The staff are warm and caring,a mine of information,I actually felt sad to leave friends behind.I can't recommend it enough.

Just got back from a few days at the hostel. I had a very clean, modern, private room and bathroom that has been renovated very well. The communal kitchen was very well thought out and clean. I was made to feel very welcome. It's a little out of town if you want to go to Albufeira or to the beach but taxis and Ubers are very cheap. The one negative is at this time of year, the rooms are damp. I've no doubt during the warmer months, this is not a problem. I believe there is a restaurant attached but it wasn't open during my stay. There are two supermarkets in walking distance. Lots of off-road parking.

Excellent accommodation and facilities. I had a private room and bathroom on the third floor. I would definitely recommend room 303 if you can the views are spectacular. The staff are so friendly and no request is too much for them. The location is perfect, in the old town minutes walk to the beach, marina and the array of restaurants are astonishing. Something for everyone. The breakfast which was included was very simple but very good. Exceptional value for money.

Welcome to HI Arrifana Destination Hostel. Located in the stunning Vicentine Coast Natural Park, just 300 m away from Arrifana's beach where you will find world class waves. Brand new facilities surrounded by a diverse flora and fauna you can relax in our inviting terrace, lounge area or take a walk through different trekking routes.
I will be hiking on the Rota Vicentina in October and wanted to book a room at the hostel for one night. I had already stayed there twice in the last few years. The double room cost around 70 euros each time. This time, the same room was supposed to cost between 810,00 and 999.99 euros on different websites. Somehow this seemed too expensive, so I wrote to the organisation via their facebook page. There they told me to send an email to Destination Hostels. I did this three times and every time received the message: "Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender". I then wrote to Destination Hostels again via Messenger and got no reply. I understand that in times of Covid-19, accommodation companies work with greatly reduced staff, but here there doesn't seem to be the slightest interest in overnight guests! Since there is limited accommodation near Arrifana Beach, I will probably order a taxi there now and go straight to the next starting point of the Rota Vicentina.

I have to be honest here: I felt my boyfriend and I payed way to much for the room we got. Of course, Wax Hostel is a hostel, so I wasn't expecting hotel quality, but I was disappointed nonetheless, because other hostels we had stayed in before had been so nice. The room we got was equipped to host four persons, with a double bed and a bunk bed and a private shower in our room. Most of the rooms in this hostel don't have a shower, so guests in those rooms have to use the communal shower. Our room with the double bed and the bunk bed was really small with barely room to put our luggage. Good advice if you want to stay in this hostel, you should definitely take a backpack and not a suitcase with you. Luckily we could use the bunk bed to put our stuff. The bathroom was very basic and after taking a shower everything was wet, but the extra strong shower head to clean your feet definitely came in handy with all that sticky beach sand. The first evening we took a shower in our hostel, sadly the water was cold. I do have to say the shared spaces are very nice, with a lovely living room and a beautiful garden overseeing the lagoon and with a view on Faro in the distance. There is quite some noise from planes flying over and the street nearby though. The walls are very tin, so you can hear almost everything your neighbors are doing. Wifi is terrible too. I ended up just using 4G. I was most disappointed by the unwelcoming behavior of the girl at the check-in desk. She just gave us our breakfast vouchers and barely said another word to us. I guess she was pissed of because I had asked for the access code to leave our luggage at the hostel. I did receive a message from the hostel beforehand saying they would send me the codes. So since I didn't receive anything the day of our arrival, I just friendly reminded them to send me the codes. Turned out I had to pay first and the check-in desk was only manned after 3 pm and not a second earlier. So we had to put our luggage in the restaurant across the hostel. Fine by me, but what a contrast with other places we slept in, where our hosts had been so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast vouchers needed to be redeemed at Wax restaurant, just across the road of the hostel. The breakfast started only at 10 am, which is terrible late already in my book, but in reality we only got our (very meager) breakfast at 10.34 am. We really really would have loved to switch our continental breakfast to an English breakfast and even offered to give two vouchers each, or pay extra for the English breakfast. This was totally impossible. I guess the girl serving us was a little embarrassed, but nothing to be done, we had to be content with the continental breakfast, the worst we had during our stay in the Algarve. Since we were a bit thirsty we asked for extra coffee and orange juice. Not only did we have to pay extra for this, we also had to wait more than a quarter of an hour and even then we had to ask again for it. I guess the high scores for this hostel are for the shared spaces.

Sunlight House is a friendly B & B run by two young locals. Located on the edge of the historic centre of Faro and just a couple minutes walk from the main avenue, and the town’s monuments, galleries, restaurants and bars. We offer space for 19 guests comprising of 4 double rooms and a triple room with private bathroom, 4 double rooms with shared bathrooms. All bedrooms are kept to a high standard. The B&B is housed in a beautiful, renovated, traditional faro building decorated in a modern style with particular attention to detail. The friendly staff are always happy to offer help, advice and local knowledge about the area. From the rooftop terrace you can enjoy the stunning sea view while sitting, relaxing and making new friends.
Arrived here for 1 night after a late fly in. Warm welcome. Big room with ensuite (Eva). Very impressed with the bedding as was excellent quality and fresh smelling. Mattress and pillows memory foam and again good quality. Bathroom slightly small but great shower which was hot and powerful. Nice terrace for a sunny breakfast Would stay here again

Casa d’Alagoa is a historical building and offers private and shared accommodations in a central location in Faro where you will find a family atmosphere, and a curious fact, it is the first Hostel in Town. Here you can breathe the vibe “Where you treat your friends like family and your family like friends”. It is located in Alagoa garden and it faces a bus stop that can take you anywhere around the city. Accommodations are simply decorated and feature high ceilings. Some rooms overlook the square from the private balcony. A fully equipped kitchen is at guest’s disposal, as well as a barbecue. A daily breakfast buffet is included in the price and is served from 8:30 until 11:00. Faro old town is a 5-minute walk through Arco da Vila, and guests can explore the cobbled streets and historic sites within the city walls. Lethes Theater is a 4-minute walk and the shopping street, Rua de Santo Antonio, is less than a 1-minute walk from Casa d’Alagoa. In Casa d’Alagoa you will find fantastic dinners that all the guests praise so much. Everything is prepared on site by the chef who you can stand, and watch prepare your food. Very reasonably priced and nice big platefuls that we can previously make the reservation for your group. The reception is open 24/7 and can assist in booking transport services to and from the airport as well as for any of the activities available, such as: meals, surf classes, boat trips, bike tours, free walking tours, pub crawls, etc.
We booked a double room with en suite and breakfast included at £70 pn. The room was tiny with hardly enough room to pass each other and there was no breakfast or anything so you have to go out immediately upon waking. Having said that the room was clean and the bed linen good. The communal areas were decent with a well equipped kitchen and the front receptionists very friendly. Bathroom a bit odd with no hot water in the sink just a tap normally found in a public wc that goes off every 5 secs. If we had paid for a hostel dorm I wouldn’t complain …. But we didn’t.
