10 Hop-On Hop-Off Tours in New York City That You Shouldn't Miss

February 5, 2022 Brain Ambrose

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

This is a great idea, but when the tour guide is horrible...well, you get it. Bad enough it was so cold, but the guy was actually being paid to tell us "blah blah blah blah". He was the most ill-suited employee I have ever encountered! This was on the gray-line tour covering Central Park and the North end of the city.

We had the best bus driver/tour guide EVER. He was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and he gave us extra commentary (aside from what the pre- recorded message gave us). He goes above and beyond to make the ride enjoyable and make sure you learn as much as you can about the city. He loves his job and it truly shows. If you are able to take this tour be sure to get John as your driver - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. And if possible and you enjoy yourself ..show him your appreciation (a tip ) during or before you get off.

Awful experience. Customer service sucks! I bought a classic ticket with a Circle Line tour. The document and confirmation to get to Circle line tour was not what Circle Line needs to let us board. We were embarrassed twice by Circle Line claiming they do not take the tickets we were provided by BIG BUS. Then called and chatted with Isabela at Big Bus who declined us a refund because she did not believe me. Do not use them they will steal your money and mess up your NYC plans!
