In the NMM at the former Soesterberg air base, the past, present and future of the Dutch armed forces come together. See our impressive collection at first hand and experience for yourself the exciting stories of our armed forces at the biggest museum about the Dutch military! The NMM has the most extraordinary collection of tanks, aircraft, armoured vehicles and helicopters in the Netherlands! Each one of them is unique and has its own story. Personal objects and moving stories also come to life at the NMM. You will be amazed how the Dutch armed forces are interwoven with the world around you!
Well worth a visit to see the history of the Dutch defense forces. The exhibits are honest and not confronting. As my father had served in the Royal Dutch Marines after the war it was for me an insight into events that he did not speak much about.

The museum is really interesting. Rich collection of paintings of reformist Christian artists reflecting the essence of the break with tradition of Catholic Church. Authentic spiritual pictures, treasuries and statues. You begin to understand the ideas behind medieval Dutch artifacts and their meaning to Peale of the times. Recommended for visitors who have already been in traditional sites in Amsterdam

A really interesting small town museum with an above-average art collection of Dutch artists' works. Displays of local history are also very good especially World War Two. All housed in an interesting building on a canal of architectural interest in its own right.

From the world’s largest Rietveld collection to Dick Bruna. From the Utrecht Caravaggists to Pyke Koch and Marlene Dumas. From fabulous fashion and a wondrous seventeenth century doll’s house to a famous, centuries-old ship. A visit to the Netherlands’ oldest civic museum is a unique experience and guaranteed to inspire.
Museum was very local, and focuses on local artists such as Rietveld. Also has a good balance of all Dutch Artists. Exhibits were very well designed and thought out. We had lunch in the Cafe before entering the museum (very good), and coffee and dessert after our museum visit.
