The emphasis is on interactive and hands-on learning exhibits that provide scientific information regarding tidal forces, geology, erosion and environmental issues.
This place is certainly a 'must-see', with changing exhibits and an intense focus on local natural history, I would rate this as one of the 2 best museums on the Central Coast.

This is a restoed vintage home in the Heritage Square park area of Arroyo Grande It is complimented with a historic research library next door, the Barn Museum with local agricultural exhibits and a historic school house. Very well presentation in each and there is no cost, although donations were appreciated. The Heritage Square area is across the swinging pedestrian bridge from the village of Arroyo Grande. Can't wait for the next visit.

Wandered into to mission after Sunday services. Very impressed with the museum that offered Catholic history as well as history of the indigenous people of the area. AND this was all free with a suggested donation. A must see if you like missions !!

For years we saw this 19th century home sit unoccupied and in continual decay, to the point that someone had to cover it with blue tarps to try to slow down the weather damage. Finally, a multiyear restoration project was undertaken and the restored home has now become a very pleasant historical museum. The docents here are very friendly and informative. Just ask a question or two and enjoy their answers. Several historical displays are available, each of which is quite interesting, including the history of the home, itself. The large front room in the home is the centerpiece, including a working antique RCA gramophone record player, which you should listen to, and antique stereoscopes, which you should look through. Both of these items delight children. There is no charge for admission, but a $2.00 donation is requested.

This museum is located in the beautiful historic Carnegie Library building in the middle of the Paso Robles city Park. I loved how helpful and informative the docents were. The docents were also able to direct me to other museums in the area as well as fabulous restaurants for our evening meal.

Located in the former Carnegie Library, this museum traces the history of San Luis Obispo County from the era of the Chumash and Salinan Indians to present day.
One of the free libraries built as a result of money donated by Andrew Carnegie. The greeter was a joy! Her passion for this center was infectious. I will make sure to visit more of these original free libraries in my future travels.

The Morro Bay Maritime Museum is operated by the Central Coast Maritime Museum Association, a registered public benefit 501(c)3 non profit corporation.
We had a fun time viewing the various exhibits at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum. We liked seeing the deep submergence rescue vehicle. We saw the Coast Guard Boat. We saw the Motor Vessel Alma. All were so interesting to see. There is more things to see too. There is a free parking lot close by.
