Chaotic, crowded, and cosmopolitan, Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is a city of contrasts. Home to millions of people from around the world, the city is a mixture of languages and cultures, poverty and wealth. The city boasts some of the best nightlife in Asia and some of the worst traffic. Every holiday, the locals escape the pollution and the crowds to enjoy relaxing diversions like Ancol Dreamland, an amusement area featuring water parks, beaches, golf courses, and a SeaWorld.

Taman Prasasti Museum is very different with any other Museum. It's fully outdoor, the ambience brought us to back in 1800. Although it's a cemetary, but we didn't feel spooky at all. Very artistic graveyard, feels like in Europe at the summer time :) . Don't forget to bring your camera, or your mobile phone with great camera. There are a lot of interesting spot you can take shot. For the dress code, I suggest to wear white or black. It's very good for your photograph result.

Sasmita Loka Ahmad Yani is one of the museum that taking place at the General Ahmad Yani House in Menteng. It is the history witnesses of September 30th Action by PKI. It is not a big house actually, typical government elite house, 1 floor but have large area. The entry door is from the back, of the house. You have to take off your shoes when you want to come in. So make sure you wear something that easy to take off :) From the entry door, you can see like a bulletin glass boards, inside are old pictures not only Pak Ahmad Yani but other generals also. The photos from the crime scenes inside the house, at Lubang Buaya and the morgues. There also picture from Pak Ahmad Yani private collections when he's still on duty, serving the country. Next we will go inside the house through the hallway, which is the hallway itself is a crime scene, where PKI brought Pak Ahmad Yani's body. Inside the house there's an air conditioner in the dining room, so it's a little bit cold :) you can take pictures in the dining room. You can go to the living room and taking picture there. You can go the bedroom where there was Pak Ahmad Yani private belonging, and also the gun that shot the general. Since the tragedy happen in the house, you can feel the energy inside this museum is full of sadness. There's also a room with other generals belonging in here. There's no ticket box in here, they just put box where you can give money in any value as you want.

Also called the Museum of Old Batavia, Fatahillah Museum occupies the old town hall and contains artifacts, weapons and an old jail.
A lovely little museum that introduces you to the city’s history - from Sunda Kelapa to Jayakarta to Batavia and finally Jakarta. While popular among Indonesians, very few expats seem to go here, which is a pity. We asked if there was an English guide and were delighted to meet Lulu, who took us on a great tour of the entire premises. As a Jakarta local, her insights made the experience even more interesting! There is quite a lot of written information in English, so you can also wander around on your own. Yes, the displays need some work and better aircon would help. But if you adjust your expectations and go with an open mind, you’ll have a good time! (Also, the ticket is only 5000 rupiyah.)
