Virpazar (Cyrillic: Вирпазар, pronounced [v̞îrpazaːr]) is a village in the Bar municipality, Montenegro. It is located in the Crmnica region, straddling the Crmnica river, which flows into nearby Skadar Lake. According to a 2003 census, it has a population of 337, inhabited by Montenegrins (61,72%) and Serbs (31,45%). There are various tourist facilities including Virpazar hotel, a lakeshore hotel.

Montenegrin history is amazing. Tour starts from hotel by car pickup and goes first to the village Karuc, an old fisherman village which is now touristic place. There is and old abandoned house of St Petar Cetinjski, and nice restaurant for morning coffee. From this place we would continue to one view point where you can see one of the most amazing picture in Montenegro and late we go to touristic village River Crnojevica, one of the first Montenegrin settlement where now lives just few families. From this place we continue to Macalov brijeg, small bar with view point on Skadar lake and have short break for domestic juice or drink. After that we continue to the village Virpazar, visit fort Besac and have story about National park Skadar lake. After short visit we would continue to village Zabljak Crnojevica, where is the abandoned castle of first Montenegrin ruling family Crnojevici and later to have lunch in local restaurant. When you get ready we will take you back to your hotel.

We are starting the trip to Skadar Lake National Park and Virpazar town. Skadar Lake is a paradise for fishermen, bird lovers, nature lovers and devotees of culture and historical monuments. The boat ride here is really spectacular here. To full feel your senses we will visit the family winery and taste three kinds of wine, rakija-grappa, homemade bread, prosciutto, cheese, and more dishes of the home and learn about it by the local winemaker. Virpazar is a small fishing village, located on the road between Podgorica and the Montenegrin coast, at the confluence of the river Crmnica and Orahovica in the lake. It is also recognizable by local wines, which you can taste in family vineyards and cellars in the center and the surrounding area. Skadar Lake is the largest lake in Montenegro and on the Balkan. The lake has many islands and peninsula with traces of history and valuable cultural heritage: Žabljak (15th century) – the capital of the Crnojević dynasty, Lesendro - fortress on the rock at the lake, the fortress Grmožur - the Montenegrin Alcatraz. The lake has 18 important historical monuments that witness to Montenegrin history from the 11th century to the present. The lake is known for its diversity of flora and fauna. Skadar Lake is a bird's paradise, it has 264 bird species... On the shore of Skadar Lake, as a small place on the same river, there is – Rijeka Crnojevića, known as the Montenegrin Venice.

Budva is a must see for anyone traveling in the region. Its an "old town" with a wonderful past. The night time entertainment in the city is great too but start your day with a city tour. Its worth the cost and will blow your mind...or just boggle it.

Skadar lake is among the greatest national parks in Montenegro an it is nature reserve for a lot of bird and fish species. Tour begin from Virpazar and easily flow trough channel to the first stop at island Grmozur which is from 19th century and used to be military fort and later prison, but now days is touristic attraction. Later we are heading to the Lesendro fort, which is greatest fort in Skadar lake built in 18th century, which also was island, but now days is peninsula. Fort is abandoned and damaged during wars and earthquakes, but is most interesting stop for tourists. After short break we are heading to the Kom monastery, which is built in 15th century. This is the most beautiful monastery around Skadar lake and it is still in good condition. Here you will have break to visit the monastery and find out why is so much important. You would have time for swimming and sunbat on a boat and enjoy tasting some domestic juice and vines. After break we are heading back to Virpazar.

We did not have a direct bus line to a ski resort in Kolasin, so we chose this operator in order to transfer us there. There were 7 of us, two families, 3 teens in a minivan which was really comfortable. The driver offered us some snacks, and the kids liked it. All in all, a short and safe drive to Kolasin and Bjelasica mountain. We used the same service on our way back to Podgorica airport.
