Seven Cities, a place of legends. Seven Cities, perhaps the most emblematic place in San Miguel, this is "only" one of the seven wonders of Portugal. Place of legends and stories, where each one is a King or Queen. This is a place to store through a photograph, or perhaps as someone once said ": no photograph can portray such beauty, I prefer to keep what my eye sees in mind:' Admire the nature and relax on a thermal bath at Fire Lake, prepare yourself for a full day full of surprises.
Inclusions: Local guide, Lunch, Hotel pickup, Hotel drop-off

I booked a last minute tour with Miguel for a private visit of the Island and it was just wonderful! He was very accommodating, lovely to talk to and willing to make the experience as nice as possible for the client. I had a few places in mind I really wanted to visit and he managed to find a way to take me to all of them. He is also very knowledgeable about the island and had a few anecdotes in his sleeves ;) I truly cannot recommend him enough and will definitely call him again whenever I come back to Ponta Delgada.

We picked the all-in-one tour which included Twin Lakes, fire Lakes and furnas. We were greeted at the cruise ship terminal with our name on a board. After everyone arrived we took off in a van and proceeded to sightsee this Island. Besides the beauty of the island one thing that stood out to us was how clean it was, we did not see any litter on the highway, roads or anywhere. We spent the day zipping here and there giving us enough time to get out and look around at each stop. Now that we have seen the island if we ever go back we would like to just strictly go to the hot springs/bath and enjoy a meal that has been cooked in the ground. Their van was comfortable and tour guides were pleasant and happily answered any questions asked.

Enjoy our Jeep Tour full of natural beauty and lush vegetation, situated in the most rugged part of the island. This region reflects well the magnificence of the nature of this island, as is visible on the various viewpoints that emerge along the coast such as Ponta do Sossego, Ponta da Madrugada, Tronqueira or the Arnel Lighthouse, among many other special places.

We really enjoy this trip ! The guide, Luis, is very nice. He can speak a bit french too which was very helpful. The tour allows you to enjoy a lot of landscapes and some adrenaline too. More in the morning than the afternoon (do not hesitate to take the wine for lunch then !) I would definitely recommend it.

Tour the best that Furnas has to offer. Bath in hot springs, visit beautiful botanical garden Terra Nostra, and explore the 'Cozidos' area, eating traditional foods cooked underground for lunch. Start the tour on the south coast of the island, stopping at several viewpoints along the way. Visit the Furnas calderas to see a big part of the volcanic activity. See the many ways the energy form the volcano is used through the community. After lunch, taste some local liqueurs of the region. On the way back, stop at the beautiful viewpoints of the island. As the final stop, taste some tea at the local Gorreana Tea Factory, before being returned.

Beginning the tour from the South of San Miguel, visit the Ceramica Vieira factory and see how local pottery is made. Witness the cultural process and look around for souvenirs. The next stop takes you up the mountain of Lagoa do Fogo. Then head down to the Caldeira Velha, a small garden where you can bathe yourself in warm water heated by the volcano. Feeling refreshed after the bath, head next to the Ribeira Grande, a city where you can taste several liqueurs produced by Mulher from the Capote Factory. Eat a unique lunch at Lagoa, with their traditionally inspired cuisine. After lunch head out to see more of the natural features of the island. We had two great tours (one 'solo' to Furnas and east, one w/ 3 other random couples to Sete Cidades) with Samuel Rego of Greencorner Tours, who grew up on Sao Miguel. Not only knowledgeable he is a great guy to spend a day with, speaking excellent English and a good conversationalist. He was also a good driver, no small thing with mountainous roads. We would highly recommend seeing Sao Miguel with Sam!

Went on three different tours with Andre. All of them exceeded expectations. What a wonderful experience! When the weather didn't cooperate, Andre always had a back up plan that never ceased to amaze. Can't say enough good things about him, his depth of knowledge and this company. It really meant a lot to us that Andre was able to encourperate a short stop at my Mother's village, a place she hadn't been in about 65 yrs. He is part of our family now! Obrigad Andre and BigBlue!

The plantation is beautiful and the information regarding the process is educational. However, the experience only took around 15 minutes. There was no speaker or guide and the equipment was not running when we were there.

First the negative - don't do this if you have a serious fear of heights. And if it's cloudy enough that you can't see the peaks from below, don't even bother. Now the positive - however scary some of the trail looks as if it might be from below, it isn't as bad as you expect when you get up to the scary-looking bits. And if you can see the views at all they are wonderful, especially on a very clear day. The trail itself is a mix of different landscapes, first climbing through a mossy gully, then past a green bog full of noisy frogs, then up a bleakly beautiful grassy cone to a lookout point with views for miles, followed by another lookout point with views of a lake, then through heath and bracken, down to some woods around a different lakeside, then a climb up through more woods and lovely plants. It's free, and there is a car park and very clear signage. Take a photo of the map in the car park, you won't need it but it's interesting to look at to see where you are.
