We did not pick Dorien Malaj as our guide in Albania; we were matched up by one of the travel industry’s many anonymous middle men—but the moment we actually met Dorien, we knew we had gotten lucky. He was quick to identify our particular interests and to adjust accordingly. Our focus in Albania was their “accursed mountains” in the north east. We expected that in getting from Dubrovnik to Albania, Montenegro would be little more than a “drive through”. However, Dorien took us on a stunning mountain route that included the two beautiful but very different towns of Kotor and Cetinje, which really put Montenegro on the map for us, an added bonus. Dorien was so well-informed and happy to share both the hard facts and the subtle cultural nuances we were observing. His interactions with local people were very interesting to observe, and his background in Psychology gave him an interesting perspective, greatly enhancing our experience. His personal interests were so varied and wide, and that made looking through his eyes very stimulating for us and made conversation very productive. There was no subject off limits—about either Albania or the US. Dorien has a nice sense of humor that seemed to match ours…so that we had lots of fun together, too. It was a very easy and open relationship.

Prishtina, the capital of the newest country in Europe is blessed with history, culture and traditions. The richness of the city is expressed in its young population and buzzing energy that captivate the attention of visitors upon arriving here. Its mix of old and new architecture, the old bazaar, different museums, mosques and churches, combined with cafes, traditional food and hospitality are some of the main elements that make Prishtina tour an uplifting and memorable experience. While being the center of the busy urban life in Kosovo, Prishtina is a place that radiates a notable relaxed ambience which is reflected in the lifestyle of local population, atmosphere in the streets and peaceful attitude of its community. Included in this day Tour are also visits to Ulpiana archaeological site (of Roman era) and the Gadime marble cave (considered to be millions of years old) which are both nearby Prishtina.

Few months ago my family and I had the pleasure to visit Kosovo. We went to Kosovo before, but this time we decided to visit Gjakova with the help of Svonon Tours. They prepared an amazing itinerary for us and with the help of their guide, who speaks English like a native, we discovered many significant religious, cultural and historical sites in Gjakova. The guide was extremely welcoming and had a great knowledge of the city's ancient and modern past. Svonon is a professional tour company and I recommend it to anyone visiting the country. We cannot wait to return.

Hey if were are in Kosovo you should post definitely go to prizren. Its one most beautiful cities in balkan. Me and my friend spent a week in Kosovo’s capital and we had some free time and wanted to travel a bit but we didn’t know much how to manage our time to get the best out if so after asking some friends they suggested this great company Choosebalkans, even though their headquarters are in Tirana they offered a private tour of prizren from Pristina. The tour was very smooth unlike the traffic there haha, but our kind tour guide showed the back doors of the city and managed to see all the best parts of it within the day. We also wanted to visit the mountains around the city and as expected the company made another day tour just for us . not just in Kosovo but in all western balkans this company is the go to.

My tour with Good Albania was delightful as it gave me an opportunity to explore the UNESCO heritage sites and indulge in the nation's wonderful cuisine. Originally, I was supposed to join one other person for the tour, but that individual had to cancel suddenly. So I ended up on a private tour and could adjust the pace of my journey as things unfolded. My guide Migert was easygoing and attentive to my needs, helping me get antihistamines when I experienced an allergic reaction and mailing my postcards near the end of my trip. The food throughout the trip was delicious, and the portions were so large that on most nights, I felt too full to eat anything for supper. The local guides throughout the trip were also informative and friendly, and meeting a local family in a mountain village was another highlight of the experience. Overall, the Good Albania team was courteous throughout my booking process and created an enjoyable and comprehensive tour. Thank you Good Albania! I hope to join you again for another tour in the future. I recommend that others stay another day in Tirana to enjoy more of the history of the city as I had to leave sooner than I had originally hoped.

It’s hard to find a patch of Europe that hasn’t been overrun by travel. Hard, but not impossible. Among the rocky mountains and green fields of Albania and Kosovo there are plenty of shepherds, monasteries, lakes, valleys and Byzantine churches – what’s lacking is crowds. It’s taken decades for the Balkans to wipe away memories of conflict and communism, but (amazingly) they’ve emerged strong and smiling.

I can't thank our tour guide Adam enough for giving us a fun filled day from start to finish. If you are lucky enough to get him as your tour guide you will agree with me that he is one interesting man on this planet! He went above and beyond, even making additional pit stops. He showed us so much in one day that would of easily taken us two to three days to do. The tour exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do future day trips in other countries/cities with Albanian Express Travel and Adam!
