Being international travellers, getting to a remote part of Slovakia is not easy but Active Travel Slovakia picked us up from our hotel and enabled us to visit the Bojnice Castle as well as other key points of interest in the region. During the trip, we were also able to find out much about Slovakian history and culture as our guide was very knowledgeable on this.

We spent 16 days touring all over Slovakia. Our favorite days were the 2 day that we spent with Miroslav. He is an excellent tour guide and taught us all about Slovak history, culture and life style. The first day we went to Lestiny wood church, Oravsky Castle, Tvrdosin wood church and Vilkokinec Unesco town. The second day Miroslav took us to Bojnice Castle and Trencin Castle. Both were absolutely lovely days. We never had a dull moment as Miroslav described each town we past through including politcal history, employment and culture. Miroslav's personal tour was so much more informative than touring alone. I highly recommend his services.

Amanzing tour to Slovak Golden Town, Kremnica, with gold mining and coin minting and with famous “Kremnica ducats”, which were used as an international means of payment as a result of their consistently high purity of gold, one of the richest towns of the Kingdom of Hungary, with the world´s oldest still-operating mint, established in 1328. There is an old Romanesque and Gothic church located on a hill. 4 km from Kremnica. In its garden lies hidden the geographical centre of Europe. And there is 2,000 year old Slavic lettering on the andesite rocks at the mysterious Slavic place of sacrifice, Velestúr, where Slavic priests made offerings to their gods. It is named after “Veles”, the arch Slavic god of earth, water, and the underworld. Let´s make a guess at the origin of this mysterious lettering!
