The Province of Perugia (Italian: Provincia di Perugia) is the larger of the two provinces in the Umbria region of Italy, comprising two-thirds of both the area and population of the region. Its capital is the city of Perugia. The province covered all of Umbria until 1927, when the province of Terni was carved out of its southern third. Todi Underground

The undergrounds can be visited by reservation with the formula of the speleological excursion: small groups of max. 10 people are accompanied by an experienced guide. Minimum age of participants 10 years. Duration of excursions is about 1 hour. Excursions take place without the use of mountaineering equipment, they are also suitable for people who are not specifically trained but in good health and are accustomed to normal exercise. Participants should not suffer from claustrophobia (fear of closed environments). Possible pathologies or special needs must be reported to the guide before the start of the excursion. Participants must be on time at the place set for the start of the tour, properly dressed and equipped for the excursion. We recommend: comfortable footwear, comfortable and not too sophisticated clothing (it is easy to get dirty), long trousers. The guide will provide participants with flashlights and protective helmets.

This subterranean tour of Todi is a unique way to learn this beautiful town's history, and definitely I recommend it for adventurously spirited people. Valerio is a very knowledgeable archeologist, explains thoroughly and in detail the history of these tunnels and was a terrific guide. I called him for an appointment for the tour, and he met us with helmets with headlights. I highly recommend!

Basilica di Santa Chiara

Built onto the original Chapel of St. George, this Cathedral is where St. Clare of Assisi was buried in a crypt in 1872.

Behind an unremarkable exterior, the inside of this basilica is surprisingly beautiful - austere, with a few fading beautiful frescoes and the famous "talking" crucifix, an Orthodox-like piece of art worth the visit in itself, and the tomb of Saint Claire in the crypt.
