At the top end of the 'Spaniada', Corfu Town's central park area, stands the Palace of St Michael and St George. This is the most significant building from the period of English rule and was originally built as the luxury residence of the then British Lord High Commissioner. It's now home to the Corfu Museum of Asian Art - the only one of its kind in Greece, dedicated to the arts of Asia.
What a gem ! Anyone visiting Corfu is well advised to add display this to their itinerary. It truly was an astonishing experience. It highlights the lifetime collection of a Corfiot diplomat called Gregórius Mános. He spent a lifetime collecting art pieces from assorted asian cultures and returned with it to Corfu. The government has set it up on display in a magnificent building that housed successive councils/governments - it was one of the highlights of our entire trip and is a ‘must visit’ if you get to Corfu.

Before visiting the memorial I recommend reading “Lost Sons of the Mediterranean. Kefalonia - September 1943 by Pietro Giovanni Liuzzi I knew of the massacre of the soldiers from the Acqui Division from reading the book and watching the film, Captain Correlies Mandolin. The memorial is about 15 minutes walk out of Argostoli it is very clean well maintained. There is also a small shrine to the right of the memorial dedicated to Captain Arpala and his men. With the ruins of a building next to it which Im led to believe was a chapel. If you keep walking down the hill at the T junction which heads towards Lassi there is a pit and memorial to 136 soldiers shot and thrown into the pit. The pit I found the saddest knowing what happened there in 1943

Visited as part of a coach tour and visited both the main church and the chapel. Both are must see places for both the aura and the artwork. I wished to light a candle for my nephew who was killed in the Arena bombing and as able to do this in both locations

We walked over to Emblisi Bay and came back via the lighthouses. Well marked trail and lovely views. Not too far from Fiskardo so easy to get to
