easy walk to the scenic overlook, wish there were signs though talking about the history of the place. There are ruins from something so it would be interesting to know what used to be there.

Galloway Creek Greenway is a lovely trail very popular in Springfield. The trail packs a lot of nature in a short distance. When I rode it on a Sunday morning in June, there were a number of people on the trail walking, jogging, or bike riding. The trail, which runs approximately 5 miles north-south is asphalt paved and is in pretty good condition except for a few spots. A few sections could be helped with trimming of shrubs which have overgrown into the trail path. The trail crosses a few minor roads, and surprisingly it crosses a rail track once at grade, and then goes under the track at another place. Also, the trail goes by a beautiful Pet cemetery, and several places right next to the creek and wetlands. Do not miss going on the short branch off trail to the James River bridge for beautiful views of the river from the bridge. The trail also has a connection to the Springfield Nature Conservation Area at the south end, though that path is not paved. Also, enjoy visiting the beautiful Sequiota Park about midway on the trail.

The Katy Trail is a perfect place to run, ride your bike or just go for a long nature hike. There is plenty of room for multiple lanes and everyone on the trial is very considerate of their space. The trail goes along the river and you can ride to the wineries if that is your thing or you can ride to downtown St. Charles and have lunch at the Bike Shop! Tom Brokaw of NBC reported live from the Katy Trail!

The Warsaw Riverfront and trail system has continued to grow by leaps and bounds the last several years! Through the unique trail system that runs along the Osage River/Lake of the Ozarks the City has linked 3 major parks, creating a linear park along this scenic waterfront area that has beautiful views of the Ozark Hills, bluffs, lakes, and greenways!

What a beautiful campground right by the Mississippi River. We loved the trains going by (not too many) and watching the barges on the river. We took a fantastic hike in the park too. And be sure to visit the memorial site.

Welcome to Katy Trail State Park, the longest developed rail-trail in the country. Whether you are a bicyclist, walker, equestrian, nature lover or history buff, the trail offers opportunities for recreation, a place to enjoy nature and an avenue to discover the past. The park, built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT or Katy), is 240 miles long and runs between Clinton and Machens with 26 trailheads and four fully restored railroad depots along the way.
We visited the Katy Trail State Park near Jefferson City. The trail is used for biking and hiking. From the trail-head at north Jefferson City there is a trail to Missouri's capitol city across the Missouri River Pedestrian - Bike Bridge. We walked the trail for an hour enjoying the birds, forest, and wild flowers. Next time we will walk the other direction for different views.
