In the back yard of a house at 272 Cotuit road in Sandwich, there is a metal building with molten glass in a furnace at 2000 degrees. 4 glassblowers, David and Yukimi and Isabel and Peter will be making beautiful glass inside the building. You can just walk in and watch them "dance with glass" from the behind of the working bench. They will explain what they are making and will answer any questions you have, too. You can feel the heat of glass as well as the love that they have in blowing glass. They usually blow glass Wednesday-Friday. there is a small gallery at the side of the house. The gallery is open everyday 10-5.
Great local glassblowing business that makes there pieces on the premises and a gallery for pieces for sale by the main house. Great variety and price point. Owner was very down to earth and friendly. No pressure to purchase anything at all.

Corps of Engineers operated visitor center with educational material about the Cape Cod Canal.
you have been in traffic for a few hours and have a few more ahead of you. Hit this visitors center, stretch your legs, get great info on the canal and its history for all ages, walk the jetty a bit and the dog. Now when you go over the canal, you will know so much more about it and appreciate it.

I just went here recently and have been back 2 times. I love the drive through the canopy of trees. It is free, but don't forget the quarters! You get fish food to feed the fish. When you first walk to the open cement pools, you get to see sample of huge rainbow and brown trout. Walk more to the left and there is a sign with the history of the Hatchery and the different stages of the fish. There are also two gum ball machines full of fish food. The different tanks have different size fish. You will get a laugh, tossing in a few pieces of fish kibble. The fish will swarm.
