A unique Holy Land site known as the hometown of Mary Magdalene, located at the shores of the Sea of Galilee. The archaeological site features a complete first century town from the times of Jesus. It is one of Israel´s most recent archaeological discoveries with the best preserved synagogue in the Galilee. Complementary tours of the site are available upon request. The site also features "Duc in Altum" a place for worship and prayer. Magdala is known as a crossroads of Jewish and Christian History, and will soon also feature a guesthouse in opening mid-2018.
This is a special place. The small excavation site contextualises the role of Mary Magdalene in the life of Jesus and is complemented by the exquisite modern church nearby, its altar a boat which appears to be sailing on the Sea of Galilee outside the window, with its mast forming a cross above. It is surrounded in the atrium by eight vibrant pillars honouring women of faith. Fr Eamon Kelly is a warm and welcoming presence. We were invited into a private room at the end of our visit where he and volunteer Rosa led the singing of ‘Happy Birthday’ to our guide, Eyal Carmel. It was a delightful moment!

For a donation of your choosing, here you can enjoy an archeological excavation, a multimedia movie (although I skipped it), a rooftop view of Nazareth, a beautiful modern chapel with stunning iconography, a perfect little gift shop, a cafe, and a warm and friendly welcome from the sister and the staff. It’s not a holy site, per se, but it is in the neighborhood, and it’s much less likely to be crowded, offering ample room for reflection and prayer.

This site is of the ancient city of Bet She'an Scythoplois and the Tel Bet She'an in Northern Israel. It has been excavated since the 1920's you will see some amazing archaeological remains covering a huge history. These settlements have revealed occupation since the Chalcolithic period / 5th millenium BCE, then Egyptian rule in the Late Canaanite period. It was later taken by King David and destroyed by Assyrians in 732 BCE. The site has been mentioned in the bible where Saul and his sons were hung from the city walls. The site later saw Hellenistic influence and also conquest was made by Rome in 63 BCE where the city flourished. Hence the site has significant history and therefore a range of cultural influences can be seen. As a tourist, there’s plenty to see including remains of a theatre, bathhouses, latrines, a forum, temples and more from Roman times and also an elevated mound with Canaanite and Egyptian remains. The site has a gift shop and bathrooms as well as plenty of parking. It is recommended to be there on a tour so you can get good explanations. It is a really well preserved site and super interesting to see.

I was the only one on the tour this day, which made for an incredibly personalized and enjoyable experience. Yair has such a calming demeanor and is very patient; the perfect guide for those with little to no riding experience. He's also a wealth of knowledge on the history of the region, and between our conversation and the beauty of the countryside, the hours just flew by. We stopped for coffee and a snack at the ruins of an old mosque and then rode up to a gorgeous viewpoint overlooking the Sea of Galilee. If you're looking for a unique way to experience the Jesus Trail away from the crowds- a unique experience in Israel, period- look no further. Thank you, Yair! And Sushi, too, for being such a good boy!

Steeped in the Biblical history of the Galilee, Kfar Kedem recreates the day-to-day life of this ancient scenic land; threshing the grain, milking the goats, pressing oil from fresh olives and wine from fresh grapes to produce household staples, just like in ancient times. These tangible experiences connect with the roots of our heritage, the values and spirit of Bible times, which continue to be a part of our lives today. Enjoy a wide variety of interactive, hands-on experiences, dressed in authentic period clothing. Our professional guides will enrich you with historical and spiritual content, while you enjoy warm hospitality and delicious, rustic dining in our shepherds' tent.

We visited the place for one night, we were a bunch of friends -- The atmosphere was magical, a peaceful place near the Sea of Galilee. A lot of seating areas, 2 pools, the place with spotlessly clean, very good sound systems around the facility and the red wine is great. Highly recommended.

I have visited Acre several times, and always been taken to see the Jail but on this visit, we saw this quite unique Synagogue. Every surface, floors, walls and ceilings are in magnificent mosaic, showing scenes from the Old Testament and other day to day scenes. Well worth a visit.
