Despite no warning or reservation, we were lucky to be welcomed by one of the family members (the sister/daughter). She was very friendly and took time to give us a tour of the winery and tasting despite being busy. After a while, the brother came and took over and we ended up tasting more than 10 different wines at no expense (we did buy some wine). The brother was also very friendly and also took time to explain a lot about the wine. The winery has been running for three generations in the family and you easily feel their passion and love for what they are doing.

We rocked up here earlier today and astonishingly luckily managed to catch Albert himself; 14th generation winemaker (very much recommend to call and book in advance mind). Wow, what a journey you go through here, it’s so much more than just a tasting. Albert has a wonderful turn of phrase, this not only makes you visualise the wine but helps you understand why it causes such a sensation. It’s approachable, captivating and thoroughly enjoyable. Alberts’ wines are not only incredibly interesting but are as magical as his stories- for which he pairs beautifully. On top of this, his wines are also very reasonably priced. This is a must do in the Alsace, the best tasting experience and hands down the most interesting wines we have found here. If you want to find the real magic amongst Alsation winemakeres, then you’d be daft to miss this place. I already look forward to my next visit.

Half protestant and half catholic, this is a very unusual church with plenty of interesting features. Parts of it are in real need of restoration, so worth a visit and helping to support.

Cave historique des hospices civils de Strasbourg

Loved my tour of this ancient wine cellar and shop. They have the oldest bottle of white wine in the world here, dates to 1472. The tour is fascinating and you can buy some of the best local wines at a great price. A steady stream of locals came in to buy wine while I was there! A fascinating experience that's quirky and a bit off the beaten track - and all the better for it!
