This was my second round in Siem Reap, the other at Phokeethra. I will split this rating a few ways. Staff were professional and courteous. I recieved a yardage book on arrival which was excellent and high quality. Range balls were included in the price which was an unexpected bonus, and the hire set were excellent Cobra F8 in the right shaft. This was a very good start to proceedings, with practise and warmup facilities 5 star. Course condition was the letdown. The tees were patchy, but the proshop had informed me of this prior to play, and many of the fairways were thin where a significant weed removal program has occurred. Maintenance is a necessary evil for golf courses, so I am not going to mark them down for that. However, the greens were absolutely pure, being quite firm and true in roll. If the rest of the course returns to the state of the greens it will be 100% pure. Course design. I saw it was a Nick Faldo track. I doubt Nick has ever been to Cambodia, but the course offered lots of wow moments. It seemed most times you arrived on the next tee, the hole was spectacular. Either a sea of sand, or tee shots through threes, or trees framing the preferred shape of shot, or water as a carry on either tee or 2nd shot. The greens were interesting without being unplayable wild, and were varied in size and shape. Most holes seemed to have water left and palms and bunkers right, and a few tee shots dictated a forced layup. Overall, a high quality layout, close to Siem Reap, and reasonable in price for SE Asia at about $170ish US for green fee (discounted due to flying Cambodia Air), cart, caddy and hirr clubs. A lot of hard work by Fabrice and his team have paid off with the course looking fabulous and so very playable. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and came away full of compliments. Well done guys.

Played this immaculate course in November of 2019. The fairways and greens are obviously tended to with loving and precise care. A challenging course to say the least but rewards a golfer who is willing to take a risk. The bunkers are extremely well looked after and raked perfectly by the caddy should you land in one. The greens are well layed out with large undulations and slopes although thankfully my caddy obviously knew the course well and gave me precise lines for all of my putts. I have read previous reviews of this course complaining about the cost involved and hence I would have to strongly disagree. The cost of playing here befits the standard of the course and the quality of the guidance from my caddy. No complaints from this golfer. The club house is simply a Grand affair but agree with previous reviews that it did indeed present as somewhat soulless. There was minimal interaction from the staff employed there and was almost deserted as far as participating golfers were concerned. The clubhouse itself is covered in marble with high vaulted ceilings but there was nobody there to enjoy such splendour, it did seem such a shame. All that aside, I went there to golf and was certainly not disappointed. The course itself would bring me back time and time again, I cannot recommend this course highly enough. Well done Garden City, I will definitely next time I am in Phnom Penh.
