Halcyon Bookstore is just next to this great shop. This is the best bookshop in the area, in Sydney, and possibly in New South Wales. I come here at least once a month and I always find something - from an old Beatles record to Marilyn Monroe book or comic book or a book on sports cars. Movie posters. Even first editions of almost any author. David also knows his stuff; and Amandas adjoining Nostalgia Factory bricabrac store is worth another hour. Just another reason Kangaroo Valley is a weekend destination that won’t fail to please.

Kate Inglish Designs is a family-owned baby boutique dedicated to delivering you with a delightful shopping experience for all your baby gifting needs. For 10 years, Kate has served Nowra with quality and affordable baby and child keepsakes, boutique clothing and gorgeous toys. As a mum of two daughters, Kate has a wealth of knowledge and will help you find the perfect gift from her exquisite baby boutique.
We’ve been Insta friends with Kate for a while now, admiring, liking and engaging with each other’s pages. Kate drawing inspiration for food and coffee from us (we hope!), and us making a list of all the baby stuff we should buy from her. Whilst down on a trip to the South Coast, we were lucky to be going through Nowra and of course we paid a visit. Kate Inglish Designs is a baby boutique with the most beautiful products you’ll find. It’s not your run of the mill stuffed toys, but quality toys, blankets, comforters, boutique clothes, books, baby journals and milestone cards, bedding, baby accessories and plenty of gift options including gift boxes. So many beautiful stylistic pieces to be purchased. With brands like everyone’s favourite Jelly Cats, Alimrose dolls, Astrup doll furniture and more, you’ll be hard pressed to walk out without bags full. We also love that so many of the products are Australian made. Kate is so lovely and helpful and no wonder she’s been in the game for 10 years and still going strong.

I visited The Treat Factory in early December to do my Christmas shopping. I'd previously visited this place while doing a road trip, and their assortment of treats was worth returning for. The factory is a 3-minute drive from the heart of town, or an easy 10-minute walk from Berry Station. On this occasion, I simply caught the express train down from Sydney and enjoyed some amazing scenery along the way. I recommend you take a browse of their website before visiting. You can buy their products on-line, but hey, half the fun is browsing their store and enjoying the township of Berry. And how good is their selection! I came away with unusual dukkahs (for example: Macadamia & Lemon Myrtle), a large variety of jams (fig & walnut is my fave), decadent hot chocolates (including chilli chocolate), and also some dessert sauces (including butterscotch). There's also chocolates, preserves, condiments, savoury sauces, hampers, and so much more. Decisions, decisions! Most of their products are made on the premises, so while I was browsing the store, I took a peek through the glass windows to watch the factory staff working away like busy bees. The staff had a great work ethic; nothing was too much trouble and they were genuinely happy to help. I asked a staff member for assistance in locating a product. Despite her being busy, when she saw how long my shopping list was, she asked if I needed help locating any of the other products. Nice one! After blitzing my Christmas shopping list, I popped directly next door to The Dairy Bar for some time out over a gelato before heading back on the train. It was relaxing sitting out on the deck overlooking farmland which stretched out to Mt Coolangatta. I noticed they had a breakfast and lunch menu (using condiments from The Treat Factory), so next time I'll give that a go. There's a car park directly outside, and both venues are Covid-friendly. I especially like how they are located away from Berry's busy day-trippers. All up, a trip down to The Treat Factory was the best way to get my Christmas shopping nailed, and I'll be happy to pop by whenever I'm passing through Berry. Oh, and the family were very happy with their unusual Christmas gifts, too!
