Le Père Mahieu is a traditional cider farm, located near from Les Pieux, on the road linking Barneville-Carteret to Cherbourg. For optimum quality, our orchards are conducted in organic agriculture. The guided visit is free (for individuals). You will lead the press of th 30's, the aging cellar of Calvados and alambic, to finish by a free tasting or our products : apple juice, cider, pommeau, cider vinegar, Calvados. Great choice and great help in finding the right Calvados! I found a 15 year old Calvados that I treasure and everytime I have a bit I remember this shop!

We were touring the beaches and war graves in are camper van the week France had there border lockdown while we were there 10th - 17th March , what we didn’t release was there was no camp sites open until the 1st April , we managed to park up in car parks that had electric but no other facilities , having popped into a tourist information office the lady told us about the cider brewery that allow you to pitch up in the back of the brewery that has electricity shower and toilet and the first night is FREE there after 3 Euros a night there is only room for 5 to pitch up. On arrival we met the owner René what a lovely gentleman, he should us were to park and the facilities and where to hook up to the electric, after we parked up we went across to his shop to get a couple bottles of cider for the evening. We stayed a further 3 nights using it as are base camp , if we had to stay put for the lockdown we would have been more than happy but we had to get the last ferry back to UK . This is a hidden gem being in a brewery with the lovely aroma and apple trees in the beautiful area with lovely walks .
