Grand Marais' Candy and Fudge Shop! Made-from-scratch Fudge, Truffles, Turtles, Peanut Butter Cups and Soup mixes, Retro Candy, Candy Cigarettes, Ice cream, Souvenirs and much more. Stop in for FREE Samples!!
Her handmade turtles and wolf-paws are the best add-on present you could hope for (but buy extra cause you'll want some for yourself!). Her fudge is superb as well and the whole place has that classic candy shop feel that makes you want to hang out (and have some ice cream). We send this as presents to our friends around the country and they can't stop raving and wanting more. Located in what was voted the "Coolest Small Town in the United States" this is not to be missed!

Piragis Northwoods Company Outfitters is a full-service canoe trip outfitter for the Boundary Waters and Quetico Park. We rent canoes and kayaks and gear for one day or as long as you need. We have the area's premier guides for fishing and naturalist guided trips and offer discounts for scouts, churches and larger groups. Our canoes are lightweight kevlar and average about 42 pounds. We've been outfitting and guiding canoe trips since 1979.
Highly recommend. The whole Piragis team from start to finish was wonderful. Our 4 night, 5 day trip (2 friends) started Oct. 1, just as a cold spell hit. Our guide, Dave HIcks, called us prior to the trip to give extra advice about planning for the cold weather. He was right on. We bought neoprene socks at the Piragis store which were perfect for keeping our feet warm and dry in the 20’s to low 30’s temps for the first couple of days. During the trip Dave went above and beyond to educate us about the Boundary Waters ecosystem, also giving us great tips to improve our paddling and navigation skills, and he even showed us nifty ways to collect dead wood and to start our camp fires. Best trip ever!

Such a fun little store! It’s not very big, but there are a lot of options! Between popcorn, chocolates, nuts and more. We really enjoyed stopping here!

Beaver Bay Agate Shop has been in business strictly as a rock shop since 1946. We are a family owned business that specializes in Lake Superior Agate, Thomsonite, Isle Royale Greenstone, Lapidary Equipment, and many other rock related items. We sell a variety of custom made jewelry, beads, carvings, fossils, and many other great gifts for any collector. If you aren't into the whole rock scene you might be interested in the museum we offer for free to anyone who visits the shop. We do custom jewelry as well. If you've got a special rock that you would like set in jewelry we can do it. We do wedding sets, pendants, rings, earrings, bracelets, and cuff links. We buy rock collections and agates of all sorts. Please call and ask for Keith. Thanks for visiting and hope to see you soon. Call with any questions you may have.
Great place to see both local rocks and gems as well as others from all over the world. They also have the largest collection of Thomsonite which is only found on the shores of Lake Superior. Family run business by the Bartels. Very friendly and gracious owners who purchased this business almost 20 years ago and are still going strong. Love the personal service and my customized Thomsonite pendant wrapped in gold by Amber. This is the best rock and gem store in the Midwest and beyond. Don't miss it on your next visit up the North shore of Lake Superior!

We are a used book store primarily, but we do have events...open mikes, musical performances, movies, speakers, etc. We also gift everyone a book on their first visit to the store
I enjoy browsing this locally owned bookstore. They have used and new items with an excellent selection. The owners are very knowledgeable of their inventory and offer a free book for your first visit to the store. They sometimes have music and authors presenting.

What an uplifting story of American ingenuity, Spirit, and drive. Tour guide was sooo good, and doubles as a very persuasive sales girl. This tour is a must-do if you are ever NEAR Faribault. Be sure to call ahead to get on the list for the tour time desired. We left with woolen koozies for friends back home, and two wool blankets, even though we will have the rare occasion to cuddle up under one.

We have knowledgeable staff that are well-trained in everything from the artists featured in the gallery to teaching in the glass studio. Watch us work or take a class and make it yourself! Our gallery features glass artwork of all types made by over 60 artists from the Midwest and beyond. This includes stained, fused, flame-worked, furnace worked and more! Lake Superior Art Glass is also your go-to gallery and studio for custom and commission glass pieces. Between us and our artists, we can make most anything you come up with.
Just happened by Lake Superior Art Glass with the open air windows and watched Jake make a memorial vase with a someone's loved one's cremated ashes...WOW...so very cool! We've been to the island of Murano in Italy and can attest to how professional and beautiful their hand blown glass creations are! They are 1 of 2 glass blowing companies in the nation that allow people to make their own memorial so when we go back in October, we're going to bring some of our precious little chihuahuas' ashes and make a paperweight! They offer classes too so what are you waiting for?! Support this awesome small business!!
